He wrapped the towel around his waist and began walking away.
"That's not I meant, you're never too old for me." I tried convincing him as I saw that he had returned back to frowning.
We got to the room and the I spotted the meal at the corner of a couch, where a table sat.
Did I forget to mention that his room looks like a living room?
"Are you hungry?" He asked.
"Very well sir." Honestly, I've been trying to hide my grumbling stomach for awhile now.
"Suit yourself." He pointed to the meal.
I was truly hungry, but why would he let me eat his own meal?
"You're not going to eat?" I asked to be sure of what I was about to do.
"Why are you so scared? You're hungry right?"
"Well, it's weird that you'll have me eat your food."
"You've only spent a week or two in this mansion, but you act as if you know me completely." He puts a cigarette into his mouth.
"I too have a heart you know." He added, then turned to open his wardrobe.
I'm really hungry right now.
I went to take a look at the meal on the table and even sniffed it for any weird smell.
What if the chef poisoned this? Then I'll just die as a chicken.
Why are all these thoughts ringing in my head?
It's probably not my fault. Mr. Alvarez has a lot of enemies I'm sure.
Anyone would want to kill a dominant man like him.
The food was palatable. The aroma could feed a hungry soul.
I can't resist even though I want to. I'm too hungry to resist by the way.
I began eating the meal without a second thought.
"You didn't just call me here to give me food did you?" I spoke out my thought.
He cracked a gun and scoffed.
I didn't want to be afraid, but I had no choice. The spoon in my hand was trembling.
"There's going to be a party here tonight. All the members of the company are to attend." He broke the news.
"What! What's the occasion?" I asked and began tearing a chicken's breast.
Such a great meal.
"It's my birthday."
My jaw dropped open.
"Whoa! That's amazing." I gave him a thumbs up.
"So, how old are you big man?" I relaxed on the cushion not minding that he was holding a gun.
Something in me tells me that I might have won his heart.
The visit to his room, the treat... Not to mention the brief smile he gave earlier.
I wonder what part of me charmed him so much.
For Stephanie, it was the fact that I cared too much.
She always made that point clear in an argument.
For me she was perfect, even her flaws made her more perfect.
"I'll be..." He steals a look at me, reading my curious gaze.
"It's okay, if you don't want to tell me. I mean you don't have to trust me, I've only spend a week or two remember?"
"You're clever." He nodded and lobbed the gun at me, while I caught it with both hands.
"So, why the gun?" I asked.
"I'm expecting enemies. I want you to protect Carlos." He said and began selecting another gun from his collection.
With all his securities, who will be stupid enough to take such a risk?
His guns sat in a corner of the wardrobe like an asset worth protecting.
I can't believe I have a gun now.
What can stop me from putting a bullet into the head of the man standing in front of me?
After him, his son will be the next.
"You're handing me a gun when I don't even know your enemies and besides, I'm hurt to defend your son." I complained and put the gun aside.
"Alright then." He scoffed and turned around quickly, swinging something in his hand.
A blade flew towards me, aiming for my face.
I quickly tilt my head to a corner, catching the blade with my hand.
I widened my eyes as I saw how sharp the blade was.
"What the fuck?" I muttered with a heavy breath, still holding the knife firmly.
"I believe you have proven yourself to still be fit for dangerous attacks." He said pleasantly, like it didn't bother him that I could have been killed.
How did he even know I'll catch it?
Has he been monitoring me somehow?
I do train in my room sometimes. Could there be a camera there watching me?
Mr. Alvarez must be even more dangerous than I thought.
Here I thought I have won his heart, but in reality, I'm just another pawn.
I won't let him use and dumb me.
I'll have to prove how valuable I am to him.
Right now he only wants my body. I have to show him I've got a lot in my brains as well.
"You should leave now, so you can get ready." He commanded.
"Make sure Carlos attends the party."
"Yes sir." I said, walking away.
"Travis." He called.
"You may love my son, but don't forget I own you. Whatever it is that he has in that little mind of his, let me know okay?" He spoke coldly.
I nodded forward twice to indicate an 'okay'.
"And make sure no one spots you, while returning." This time, he warned.
"I won't." I assured him.
The bodyguard was still standing there few inches away from the door.
This time there were two.
That must be their duty spot.
I paced gently passed them, greeted them warmly. But neither of them responded.
Their faces were strict with black goggles on.
I looked around properly to ensure no one was around the walkway before striding quickly away from Mr. Alvarez's corner.
He owns me? I spat.
The lines got me there for a minute.
Goodness!
Why do rich people think they own it all?
Can money really buy everything in the universe?
If it can, I'd have traded Stephanie's life for it.
Travis The car drove to a stop just behind the crashed vehicle. It was Mr. Alvarez's car—A black SUV.My heart stopped as his door flew open.I hid behind the tree and watched. He got out of the car, along with his bodyguard, while his driver sat still in the car.“Whose car is it?” He asked as he got closer to observe the damaged car.The bodyguard walked around to take a closer look. And that was when he saw the body that was good as lifeless on the floor.“Sir…” his bodyguard called his attention.I closed my eyes tight, knowing what the bodyguard was going to say.“What is it?” Mr. Alvarez asked, looking impatient.“It’s your son.”For a brief moment, relief was standing to come upon me that someone was here who could help Carlos. But that relief disappeared almost immediately when I saw the look on Mr. Alvarez's face.He wasn't simply worried. He looked terrified. He stepped toward the wrecked car, then stopped. His eyes widened.“No…”The word came out almost like a whisper.Hi
Travis The last thing I remembered was Carlos's hands. They were still around me, still fighting to keep me from breaking free, and I was still fighting back with everything I had. My lungs burned. My throat felt like it was closing up. I couldn't think clearly anymore. And then, the sound of a crash appeared. The sound that ripped through everything.Metal screamed and glass exploded. The car lurched forward so violently that my body was thrown against the seat. My face was buried in the safety pillow, but not before I got hit on my head by something. And for a moment, there was nothing. No sound. No pain. Nothing. Then my consciousness came back like merging pieces of a broken glass.First came the ringing in my ears. Then the taste of blood. Then the pain.God!The pain was quite unbearable.A sharp throbbing sensation that exploded through my skull. My chest felt as though someone had dropped a concrete block on it. My ribs screamed every time I tried to breathe, and my neck refu
TravisThe hum of the engine was the only thing keeping the silence from turning into a full-blown interrogation.I kept my hands locked on the steering wheel, my knuckles tight.I wanted to get out of here as soon as possible, and maybe knock Carlos to sleep too.I keep getting this weird feeling and I don't like it.Carlos sat in the passenger’s seat, leaning back, his eyes half-closed, looking for all the world like a man who had just begun to see the world for what it truly is.“So…what is my uncle like?” He finally decided to break the lasting silence. How I’d have loved to maintain that moment of silence.“He’s good.” My voice sounded thin to my own ears. I knew I was definitely lying. I don't know anything about his uncle.“You don't have to lie to me, I know who Dayton is.” He sounded boastful.“You didn't have to ask if you knew him so well.”Carlos grunted in response.“Wait a sec, I haven't even seen what you look like?” He started while scrolling through his phone. “My unc
Travis' The punch by Fester was only the beginning. It had triggered an unquenchable fury within Mr. Alvarez. He didn't fail to return his own punch, aiming for Fester's jugular. However, the blow hit his chin.In a blink of an eye, both men were throwing punches to see who was the greatest.I wonder if I should keep watching or I should use the moment to just escape instead.I began taking a few steps backwards to slip away from sight.“Ugh!” Fester groaned, leaning forward and holding onto his crotch. That was freaking nasty. How could Mr. Alvarez hit on his own brother's balls?Fester was whining about it. It must have hurt that much, I can imagine.I was hit once there too when I was in high school. By a ball, not a boy. I rolled my eyes.I had just taken a step out of the door when he voiced, “where do you think you're going?”“Mr. Alvarez…”“What?” Both men retorted with an angry gaze and glanced at each other. That's right, they're both Alvarez's. How could I have missed tha
Travis' I watched them banter each other with words I didn't even know existed. This began shortly after Carlos muttered nothing but rubbish as the rules binding them all. He should have just shut up, but instead he decided to cause havoc instead.Well, I'm undeniably enjoying it to be honest. I can't wait to see the first person that'll start throwing punches.I'll leave as soon as the argument gets intense. That way, they won't see me disappear.I sat calmly watching everyone throw words at each other and cussing.Like I said, they weren't using normal English. It's like they had a slang of their own. But somehow in the midst of it, I was able to grasp the topic. They were arguing about a failed mission which was led by one of the men at the table—Huston. He had black glasses on his face with a cigarette attached to his mouth like he doesn't give a fuck about what they were saying. It's interesting how he's fueling the hatred against him without even bothering.“Where are the drugs
Travis' “And who are you?” Mr. Alvarez threw the question at me, before I could even make a sound or a movement.God knows a lot of lies danced in my mind right this moment. None of which could save me from this pressure.I should have stuck something on my chest to give the breasts impression. That way they could tell whoever this is.“Are you coming to sit down or what?” Another man questioned.I nodded forward and took a step.“I asked," Who are you?” Mr. Alvarez asked again. This time his teeth were clenched and he spoke, revealing anger.“I’m…” it was at this moment I remembered the name on the invitation card. “I’m Dayton's bodyguard.” I said boldly.“I knew that bastard wouldn't come.” a man cussed. He was seated at Mr. Alvarez's left hand side. With a few wrinkles on his skin and gray hair on his head.“Why did Dayton send you?” Mr. Alvarez asked while squinching.“And what's with the mask in here?” Another chipped in.“Gosh! His bodyguard is so hot.” An elderly woman comment
Travis' POV"Where are we going?" I asked because we were in a hurry. One that Carlos drives."Just shut up and follow me!" He snapped, not harshly but excitedly. We made for the stairs and then to his room."What's going on..." He shuts the door and pins me upon it, before I could even ask.His ha
Carlos' POV I walk up to my father like other guests did.I've never considered him as father, but simply Jonathan my boss at work.If only I wasn't his only child, I'd have probably had a free life to live."This is my son Carlos." He introduced me to a woman by his side. She smiled warmly to me
Travis' POV I appeared before Carlos' door. How I hate to see him right now, but I have no choice. His father instructed me to bring him to the party. It shouldn't be a big task since the party is taking place in this house.I'll drag him to the venue if I have to.I placed a gentle knock on the d
