ANDREA

Pulling my car to a stop in front of our estate, I rushed inside like I was being chased.

"Lia!!" I called out but there was no response. Climbing up the stairs, I stood in front of her door and knocked before pushing it open slowly.

There she was, wrapped in a bundle on her bed. Her room was dark and almost gloomy with the curtains closed.

"Lia?" I called out softly.

"Andy?" She called out, her voice filled with doubt.

"It's me." I told her, moving slowly to her bed before sitting down at the edge.

Just as I was about to pull the sheets off her, she threw herself into my arms, letting out a quiet sob.

My heart broke.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking when I did what I did. I was just too scared about disappointing you. I'm really sorry." She rambled as she tightened her arms around my shoulders.

"What do you mean?" I asked, sincerely confused.

She pulled back a little, her small round face marred with tears. My protective instinct kicked in.

"I...I lied, i

ALEXANDER Staring at her sleeping figure, I brushed a few strands of hair away from her face. Her eyes were swollen, she had cried so much today and I couldn't do anything but stay silently by her side. Planting a soft kiss on her forehead, I tucked her in before walking out of the room quietly. Andrew was waiting downstairs, he had refused to leave earlier, saying he was going to stay till he was sure Andrea was okay. “Alex!” Andrew called, standing up from the couch as soon as he saw me coming down the stairs. His eyes were red rimmed, exhaustion written all over his face. I gave him a small nod. “She’s asleep now,” I said quietly. “She cried herself out, but she’s resting.” Andrew let out a shaky breath, his shoulders sagging as if he’d been holding the weight of the world. “Thank you,” he murmured, his voice rough. “Thank you for always looking out for her when I wasn’t there.” I shook my head. “You don’t have to thank me.” But he stepped closer, his expression p

ANDREA "Lia?" I called out softly, my voice breaking. She looked up immediately, her eyes teary as she ran towards me hurriedly. "I...I didn't do it, I didn't do anything. Please believe me Andy." She cried out as she tried to hug me. I flinched, scared that she might do something to me. Her arms froze mid air when she saw me step back. The look on her face cracked something deep inside me, guilt, fear, desperation...all tangled together. “Lia,” I whispered again, shaking my head. “I saw everything… the files, the messages. Don’t lie to me.” She dropped to her knees, sobbing harder. “I swear, I didn’t mean for any of this to happen! Melvin twisted everything...he’s the one who wanted to hurt you! I just...I just wanted things to be good again!” My chest tightened painfully. “Good?” I choked out, tears burning my eyes. “You poisoned me, Lia. You nearly killed me!” Her sobs grew louder, but I could see it...the flicker of calculation behind her tears. She wasn’t confessing. She w

ANDREA "Yes..." He grimaced. "I told them." He finished, gaze locked on mine. For a heartbeat, the room went utterly still. The only sound was the papers fluttering faintly on the desk under the breeze from the vent. My hands slipped from his grip as I staggered back a step. “You all knew?” My voice cracked, the weight of betrayal sitting heavy on my chest. “Andrew, Lexi… they were looking me in the eye every day acting like nothing was wrong...and you all knew?” Alex’s jaw tightened. “Andrea…” he began, but I cut him off with a sharp shake of my head. “No!” I snapped. “Don’t ‘Andrea’ me. How could you do this? How could you all smile at me, eat with me, pretend everything was fine while I was going crazy wondering who was after me?” My fists curled at my sides, nails digging into my palms. He stepped toward me again, slower this time, careful, as though I might run. “Because telling you without proof would’ve made it worse,” he said, his voice low but steady. “You were al

  • IN LOVE WITH MY BEST FRIEND'S BROTHER    Chapter 26

ANDREA It’s been two weeks since I moved into Alex’s villa, and they’ve been the calmest, most peaceful days I’ve had in months. Alex and Lexi hovered protectively, never letting me do a thing on my own, never letting me walk anywhere without them close by. Christian called earlier, his voice warm, asking after my health and assuring me I could take as much leave as I needed. Then Lorenzo rang. “Cara mia, we’ve missed you. When are you coming back?” he teased, and I couldn’t help smiling...though Alex’s sharp glare at the words was impossible to ignore. Later that evening, when the villa had grown quiet, I realized I hadn’t seen Alex for hours. Lexi had gone out for a party, and I found myself wandering through the hallways, calling softly, “Alex?” No answer. I wandered through the hallway, my eyes roaming around as I searched for him. "Alex, where are you?" I called out again, then I stopped in front of his study. I paused at the door, the faint glow of light slipping

ALEXANDER “So…” I drawled, my voice steady though my emotions churned beneath the surface. “You chose to save yourself at someone else’s expense?” "I...I was scared. She changed suddenly, like she was someone else. Melvin’s eyes flickered with something almost nostalgic before the fear came back. His voice dropped lower. “Before all that…she wasn’t like this,” he whispered. “When we first started dating after high school graduation, she was… different. Loving. Caring. Happy even. She’d laugh at everything, talk about dreams of traveling, of building a life. For a year, she was the girl I thought I’d marry. She was my whole world back then.” He swallowed hard, blood still staining his lip. “But then, two years ago...it was like a switch flipped. The warmth was gone. The girl who used to hold my hand like I was the only one in the world…started looking at me like I was just another tool. She stopped smiling the way she used to. Stopped talking about us, and started talking abo

ALEXANDER After saying that, I walked back to the room, my mind was filled with how I was going to make Lia pay. I pushed the door open and they all turned towards me, I noticed the relief that settled between Andrea's eyebrows. Lexi sat beside her on the bed. Lia's back was turned towards me, like she was avoiding my gaze. I ignored her and walked straight to the bedside and settled on the chair facing her, I took her hand in mine and brushed my thumb across her knuckles. "You should rest." I said softly, noticing the empty bowl of porridge on the small bed table. "Okay." She replied weakly, tugging at my heartstrings. Her eyes closed slowly and she drifted to sleep. I stared at her sleeping figure for a moment before pushing to my feet. "Watch her until I get back," I told Lexi, then stepped out, heading for the elevator. The ride down felt endless, the walls of the elevator pressing in on me, the anger in my chest coiling tighter with every floor that ticked by. By th
