"Father please," I begged with tears streaming down my face. "I need to see a doctor. If I don't, I'll get worse. I might die…"
"Tell me, Sophia. If you get worse and die, does it affect me? Does it affect my pack?" The current Alpha of the Crescent Moon pack asked, focused on his paperwork.
With a white cloth in my mouth, I coughed heartily. "I'll do anything you want, Father. But please don't let me die." I said, giving him the condition I knew he couldn't refuse.
"Anything?" He asked, looking at me who was lying on the floor, through the corner of his eyes.
"Yes. I'll do whatever you ask of me. As long as you permit me to get medical attention." I affirmed, sounding determined although I knew my stepfather's demands could be a bit crazy.
"Hmm," he smirked and placed a phone call to someone with a dirty smile that gave me goosebumps. What has he planned for me?
Two minutes later, a man walked in with a brown file and white nylon popularly used by pharmacists. The man left, and my stepfather turned to me, creeping me out.
"Here's the drug you'd use before getting medical attention and I'll give it to you once you accept my terms and conditions," he said, playing with the nylon.
"What do you want?" I wheezed, getting weaker with every passing minute.
"If you, Sophia, will come to serve at the Alpha's gathering tonight without any mistakes, then I'll make sure the best doctor in our pack attends to you," he answered, walking up to me with the nylon and a piece of paper in his hands.
Acting as a waitress was the least of the things I had done to survive after my biological parents died but coming from my step-father, I knew there was something more to it. "And if I make a mistake?” I asked, trembling as he approached me with malicious intent.
He scoffed then smiled, raising his hands and cupping my pale cheeks with it. "ONE SINGLE SLIP UP FROM YOU AND TRUST ME, YOU'D DIE FROM THIS ILLNESS! I'LL MAKE SURE NO DOCTOR OR HOSPITAL ATTENDS TO YOU AND YOU DIE A MISERABLE DEATH!"
Those were his last words to me as he forcefully inked my thumb and pressed it on the document. He threw the nylon bag at me and then walked out, with his shoulders high, and a confident smile on his lips.
"What was written in that document? Why did he force me to thumbprint? Was it a binding document?" I muttered to myself but I pushed those thoughts aside and grabbed a glass of water, swallowing the pill he gave me.
A few moments later, I felt better. I stood up and walked away, heading to my room. From the late Alpha and Luna's daughter to a mere maid who begs for the little necessities of life, I had to prepare if I wanted to see a doctor and live.
The Alpha gathering started earlier than stated and something told me this all had to do with my stepfather and that document. I got dressed and carried my weak self down to the grand hall.
Making sure to steer clear of any trouble, I dressed in the basic uniform, packed my hair, and wore flat shoes to be safe.
"Sophia," the head of the workers called and I walked up to her with my head low, wishing tonight, she'd stay far away from me. "You have been assigned to serve the VIP area." She said coldly and my eyes widened in shock.
The VIP area? The Alpha of packs in close relation to mine was seated there! The ones who supported my mother in getting with that Alpha Victor after my father died! The same ones who didn't speak up when my mother died and left him to make my life a living nightmare!
"Sophia!” the woman called out, bringing me out of my angry and painful memory. "Go now! The event is about to start."
With a neutral smile and nod, I carried myself to the VIP area, cooling my angry blood. "We're doing this to get cured," I reminded myself.
After cooling down in the corner and resting, the event began and I served and attended till I was out of breath and aching legs.
As the night progressed, the VIP area buzzed with animated conversations and laughter. The powerful Alphas and their entourages were enjoying the festivities while I moved discreetly, offering drinks and appetizers.
I kept my eyes downcast, trying my best to avoid any unnecessary attention and calls. My heart pounded with each step I took, fearing that even the slightest mistake could lead to dire consequences. I couldn't shake the feeling that my stepfather was watching my every move, relishing the power he had over me.
Just as I was about to walk back to my corner, I felt dizzy and lightheaded. My eyes rolled and black started growing from the corner of my eyes. Luckily, someone guided me out of the way and helped me to my corner. "Are you okay?"
"Just a little dizzy," I answered and looked up to be the Beta's son.
"Careful, Sophia. Alpha Victor keeps watching you like a hawk. I think he made a bet or something. Please, no slip-ups. I can't lose you like I lost Aunty," he said, giving me a tight squeeze before he left.
I grabbed a glass of water and chugged it down my throat. A bet? At least we know he's up to something now….but what is it?
Just when I was about to sit down to catch my breath, I saw a few of my mother's trusted allies sitting across from me. I tried to hide and not get noticed but it was all in vain. "Girl, bring some wine!" They ordered and with a gulp, I arranged the wine on my tray then proceeded to walk with them trying to fight the dizziness that kept creeping in.
All went well and just as I was a few steps from their table, someone pushed me, making the tray fall from my hand and the wine spilling on the man sitting on my left.
Everyone froze and gasped as the spotlight landed on me and the man I stained. I turned around, trying to find who pushed me but he was out of sight. Questions and accusations filled the air as the man I had spilled wine on stood up, his eyes blazing with anger. He was a towering figure, his presence exuding power and dominance. He wiped the wine from his expensive suit, his jaw clenched in frustration.
"Who is responsible for this incompetence?" he demanded, his voice cutting through the murmurs of the crowd.
"I-I'm sorry," I stammered, my heart pounding in my chest. "Someone pushed me, and I couldn't…"
Before I could finish my sentence, I felt his fingers on my cheek and there it was! That static I had been craving to find for years! He made me stare at him. His once cold and angry eyes softened and he whispered, "Mate?”
The journey was long and arduous, each step bringing them closer to their destination and Derrick felt a sense of purpose driving him forward all through. A determination to bring an end to the man that had plagued their pack for far too long.As they neared Victor's hideout, Derrick could feel the tension mounting. But he pushed aside his fears, focusing instead on the task at hand as they prepared to face whatever awaited them. His men waited behind while a handful of them followed the prisoner. Finally, they reached their destination, a discarded building hidden deep within the forest, its walls cloaked in shadows as if hiding secrets of their own. Derrick's heart pounded in his chest as he surveyed the scene before him. His senses were on high alert as he realized he never could have expected Victor to use a place like this. The prisoner led them inside, his footsteps echoing through the empty corridors as they moved deeper into the darkness. Derrick's heart pounded in his chest a
Derrick leaned forward, his eyes locked onto the prisoner's face, his heart pounding with anticipation. "Where is Victor?" he demanded, his voice edged with urgency. "And who were you running from?"The man took a deep breath, his gaze flickering between Derrick and Brandon as he weighed his words carefully. "It's a complicated matter, Alpha Derrick. You see, we were about to leave for battle," he began, his voice low and hesitant. "But when we went to check on Alpha Victor, he wasn't there. I went to call him from his hideout, and when I arrived, I saw him... I saw him with his fingers on the floor, chanting words."A shiver ran down Derrick's spine at the man's words, a cold knot of dread forming in the pit of his stomach. Whatever Victor was up to, it was clear that it was something far more sinister than they had anticipated."And who were you running from?" Derrick pressed his voice tight with apprehension. The man swallowed hard, his eyes darting nervously around the room before
Back at the pack house, Derrick wasted no time in implementing his plan. As his men corralled and subdued Victor's fleeing warriors, he issued orders with precision and authority."Detain them all," he commanded, his voice cutting through the chaos of the captured men being brought in. "Lock them up tight. We need to find out what's going on."His soldiers moved swiftly, their movements coordinated and efficient as they ushered the prisoners into makeshift holding cells, their hands bound securely behind their backs.Once they were all secured, Derrick made his way to the cells, his footsteps echoing in the empty corridor as he approached the captives. His eyes scanned the faces of the defeated men, searching for any sign of weakness or defiance."Who's in charge here?" Derrick demanded, his voice cold and authoritative as he addressed the group.A tense silence hung in the air for a moment before a man stepped forward, his demeanor defiant despite his predicament. "I am," he replied,
It's been several weeks since Derrick was able to escape the attack, reuniting him with his Sophia and son, Tate. But they knew they couldn't rest. Alpha Victor was still out there, plotting goddess knows what. The sun dipped low on the horizon, casting long shadows across the rugged landscape as Sophia stood in the fading light, her hands clasped tightly in prayer. The soft rustle of the wind through the trees was the only sound, mingling with the murmured words of her entreaty to whatever higher power might be listening."Please, let him come back to us. Keep him safe, watch over him," she whispered, her voice filled with a mixture of fear and hope. "Guide his steps, shield him from harm, and bring him home victorious."Tears glistened in her eyes as she finished her prayer, a silent plea hanging in the air as she gazed out into the distance, willing her words to reach her husband wherever he may be.Behind her, Derrick emerged from the dressing area, his eyes tender as he watched
Sophia's POVSomehow I felt Brandon was part of the people admitted, I went with Brandon and we walked into the ward where the two strangers were kept.My gaze traveled to the bed and there he was seated beside a lady on the bed, "Derrick," I muttered. Immediately he stood up and ran towards Brandon, they did a handshake, which I have only seen Brandon do with Alpha Caleb."Welcome Alpha Brandon," he said and I was shocked. I couldn't believe my ears, Brandon is an alpha? He stood gazing at me, we kept mute staring at each other with tears rolling down his eyes and mine.We moved at the same time and we hugged each other, it was so priceless. This is a moment I have been longing for over the past months, to be in his embrace. We hugged for a few minutes, as he ran his hands through my hair, while he patted me on my back."I have missed you, my love," he muttered as he sobbed."I have missed you also, what took you so long?" I asked sobbing, we disengaged from the hug staring at each o
Alpha Brandon's POVA few meters from Alpha Victor's pack, Wisdom asked that I bring the car to a stop, I did while waiting for his next instructions."We won't be allowed to get in because we aren't part of the pack, we need another means to get in," Wisdom said as he took off his seatbelt.I did the same and we came out of the car, "Come with me, keep your eyes open and your ears open."Caleb and I nodded our heads as we walked with him along a bushy path, it was a long walk, but the distance wasn't the problem. What we had our mind fixed on was how we were going to get her out of the dungeon he kept her.As we moved, we stopped right at the front of a rock, which seemed like the end of the road. "Where are we heading to?" Caleb asked, breathing heavily."Inside the rock, it leads straight to the basement," he muttered and we were both shocked.I had to look at the rock again, "How do we get in, there's no opening anywhere and how sure are you about this?""I am fucking sure because
Alpha Brandon's POV(Two Days Later)We were all seated in my office as we awaited the spy, I glanced at my wristwatch, "John, it's been two hours, and he hasn't shown up.""Be patient man, he will be here soon," John replied, and just then the door opened and a short dark dark-skinned man walked in and walked straight to John. They both shook hands, John stood up and cleared his throat, gazing at me, "Alpha Brandon, please meet my trusted spy, I call him Wisdom.""Wisdom meet Alpha Brandon," I stood up and we both shook hands, "You are welcome Wisdom.""Thank you, sir, it's an opportunity to meet you, can we please go ahead?" He asked and I nodded my head, "Hold on, hold on, don't be too fast, won't you get to know who the rest are? John asked.Wisdom exhaled, "Go on boss, I am listening." John pointed to Alpha Caleb, "That's Alpha Caleb, you know the name of his pack right?" Wisdom nodded his head."That's Sophia, Alpha Brandon's sister, and seated beside her is Sandra, Alpha Brando
Alpha Brandon's POVAlpha Caleb started chuckling, "I have an idea, though it doesn't look great, but it will surely be of help.""Spill it, I am listening," I said and sat up, he nodded his head, and also sat up, "Right now we don't have a lot of information and we just can't act like that. How about we send a spy to get information for us?"John sat up, clapping his hands, "Exactly, that was the same idea that came across my mind, why don't we get someone to penetrate the pack? The job of this individual will be to send us vital information not about the pack, but about Alpha Victor, his movements, where he goes to, and the rest."I kept quiet as I pondered on what they just said, "Do you guys think this is the best thing to do?"They nodded their heads, "It's the best thing to do, we can't act without information. We need information to act, don't you think?" Sandra asked."Yeah, we need information to act, I believe, now the big question is who is going to be the spy. It can't be
Alpha Brandon's POVOur gaze was fixed on Alpha Caleb as he wrote down the name of the Alpha, he wrote on the board Alpha Victor."What?" Sophia gasped looking shocked, "What is it? Do you know him?" She clung to her neck, breathing hard as she nodded her head."Who's he, talk to me," I said as I moved towards her. From the way she responds, I feel there's something tragic about that name, the only way I can find out is by getting her to talk about it."He is the alpha of our pack, not only that he is our stepfather," she whispered looking scared, "Our stepfather? You mean the man that Mum married after Dad's death?"She nodded her head, "That man is evil, he's an evil brother. He is evil.""Evil, what do you mean, talk to me, how's he evil?" We all turned towards her."He was the one who offered me to Alpha Caleb, and when Alpha Caleb rejected me, he sold me to Alpha Derrick. Not only that he mistreated me during my stay with him, he maltreated me, he also did the same with Mum," she
