Derrick's POV.

Her eyes twinkled, just like the first time I had met her. Her lips curved into a smile as she leaned forward, expecting a kiss.

"What was it you wanted to ask me?".

Hearing that made my senses come back to me. I thought of what I had wanted to ask her and immediately, it clicked.

"I was thinking of asking you to be my—

I stopped myself halfway. I had to rethink this.

"Mate?", She raised her eyebrow to the question. I shook my head. She scoffed, "Then what?".

"Girlfriend? Or lover?". She pulled closer.

I still shook my head. This was not supposed to be the way we should have been acting. I was not meant to be this free with her.

I pulled away from my bed and then got up. I walked to the window to have a look at the woods my balcony was standing over. A cold wind gushed through my ears. I needed to think better and not be carried away by emotions.
