It was dawn the next day and Lucas was ready to make good his promise to Ambrosia and Mary. He also had other things he needed to accomplish. He knew the truth about how Mildred felt about him and needed to make things straight with her. Smith was dropped off at Nicole's place by 4 AM in the morning, when they returned from the night club by Charles. Nicole was sleepy and went straight to bed. Angela was equally sleepy and given that she sometimes sleeps over at Nicole's place, went in to sleep along with her best friend. Charles lived in the opposite direction from where Smith lived, so he drove back home alone, leaving Smith as the odd one out and having not had a great night with Nicole, couldn't invite himself in and had to go home.He was upset about this, as he walked home alone.
