Chapter 13 (a)

He carefully closed the door and went inside. He did not find Irene in the living room so he decided to visit the kitchen for once. He could expect her there. He went there after removing his jacket and throwing it on the couch. And there in the kitchen, he found her stirring something in a bowl.

"What are you making?" He asked, going closer. She grinned as soon as she looked at him, and he smiled at that charming smile. "Batter for pancakes," she answered him lovingly.

But as soon as she ran her eyes behind, wishing to see Hazel, his jaw clenched. He knew what she was trying to find behind him. She, of course, expected Hazel to come with him.

"Where is Hazel?" She looked back at him. His muscles automatically loosened and he gulped down his lump. The sudden wave of nervousness rushing through him did not fit well as Irene noticed it.
