ISABELLA POV

I barely slept through the night.

Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Xavier’s face. The way his eyes burned when he locked me inside. The way his voice curled around me like chains when he said, “You’re mine alone.”

I tossed and turned, staring at the ceiling, then at the locked door. My chest tightened with every tick of the clock. I thought of Eva. My sweet Eva. I wondered if she was crying, asking for me. The thought alone almost broke me.

I tried to think of a way out. The windows were locked, the door bolted from the outside. The room smelled faintly of lavender, but I hated it. It felt like the scent mocked me, as though Xavier had decorated this place to cage me with false comfort.

By morning, my body ached from lying awake. My head throbbed, but my mind was still racing. I needed a plan.

The sound of footsteps made me sit upright. My heart jumped as the door slowly opened.

Xavier stepped inside. He wasn’t in his usual suits. Instead, he wore a simple white shirt w

EVA’S POVI was so sleepy. My eyes kept closing, but I didn’t want to sleep here. The kitchen chair was too hard, and the light from the big chandelier was too bright. I wanted my soft bed. I wanted Mommy’s warm arms around me.I hugged my knees tight. If I squeezed hard enough, maybe I would disappear and wake up back home.“Mommy…” I whispered. My voice cracked. My throat hurt. “Daddy…”Ma Hilda’s head turned fast. She was stirring something in a pot, and the spoon clanked so loud. She didn’t smile. She never smiled at me. Her eyes were sharp, like the point of a needle.“Stop that noise,” she said. “Crying, crying, crying. That’s all you do.”I froze. My lips pressed tight together. I didn’t want to make her angrier. But my eyes burned, and before I knew it, hot tears were sliding down my cheeks again.I wanted to say sorry, but my voice wouldn’t come out.My throat was so dry. I was thirsty.I slid off the chair and reached for the jug on the counter. My arms shook when I tried to

  • ISABELLA (The Night that ruined me)   SEPERATED

ISABELLA POVThe slam of the door echoed like a death sentence.I froze, my hands trembling against the wood as I pulled, twisted, pushed, but nothing. The knob wouldn’t turn. My heart hammered so violently it hurt.He had locked me in.I staggered back, breathing fast, the reality pressing down on me like a heavy weight. My child..my little girl..was in Xavier’s hands. The thought alone made bile rise in my throat. I pressed my forehead against the door, whispering her name like a prayer.“Eva… my baby…”I yanked at the knob again, nails scratching the wood until they hurt. I screamed, pounding my fists until my knuckles stung. “Xavier! Let me out! Don’t you dare touch her!” My voice cracked, raw and desperate, but only silence answered. No footsteps. No sound. Only the echo of my own despair.I slid down to the floor, my back against the door, shaking uncontrollably. Tears blurred my vision, but anger burned hotter than the fear. He thought he could take her. He thought he could own

  • ISABELLA (The Night that ruined me)   DARK OBSESSION

XAVIER POV“You belong to me.”The words left my lips like a promise, like a curse, as my hand tightened on Isabella’s wrist before she could bolt with Eva in her arms. She froze, trembling, her wide eyes darting from me to the hallway as though searching for an escape that no longer existed. I had caught them. My careless mistake of leaving the study door unlocked had almost cost me everything, but fate had played its hand in my favor.“You can’t escape me, Isabella,” I whispered harshly, pulling her closer while Eva whimpered softly in her embrace. “You belong to me.”Her voice cracked, desperate and sharp. “Let us go, Xavier. Please, she’s just a child. Don’t drag Eva into this!”I ignored her pleas, though they sliced through my chest like knives. Not because I cared for her words, but because they reminded me of what she was willing to risk for Drake. For him, she would run, betray, and fight me. That thought alone made my blood boil.I yanked her forward, the fragile body of Eva

  • ISABELLA (The Night that ruined me)   ESCAPE

ISABELLA POVThe doorknob rattled. My heart jumped into my throat. Whoever it was, they were trying to get in.I pressed my back flat against the wall, the laptop still clutched to my chest. My pulse pounded so loudly I was certain it would give me away. For a moment, the sound of the handle turning back and forth filled the office, each metallic click stabbing into my nerves. Then silence.I didn’t dare move. My breath was shallow, shaky.A full minute passed before I forced myself toward the door again. Slowly, carefully, I twisted the knob from my side and cracked it open. The hallway beyond was empty.Relief washed through me, but I didn’t waste another second. I needed to get to Eva. Now.I tucked the laptop under my arm and padded down the corridor. Every step echoed in my ears, every creak of the wooden floor made me flinch. Xavier could be anywhere, and if he caught me here… I pushed the thought away.At the end of the hall, I saw the familiar door to Eva’s room. My hands shoo

  • ISABELLA (The Night that ruined me)   HE'S MONSTROUS

ISABELLA POVThe door wasn’t locked. That was Xavier’s first mistake. When he left me alone in that isolated room, I thought he would seal it like always. But this time, the handle turned easily under my trembling fingers. My heart slammed against my ribs as I pushed it open.I didn’t wait. I didn’t breathe. I just ran.The mansion was too quiet, every creak of the floorboards louder than my own pulse. My bare feet barely made a sound, but in my head, it felt deafening. What if he came back? What if he caught me in the hallway?I swallowed the panic and forced myself to move. There was only one place I needed to go. His office. The door loomed at the end of the corridor, heavy wood with a brass handle. My palm was slick with sweat as I turned it. For a split second, I almost prayed it would be locked, that fate would save me from whatever truth lay inside. It wasn’t. The door clicked open.Xavier’s office smelled faintly of cologne and smoke, the curtains half-drawn, shadows cutting a
