The alarm went off at 5:30am. Isabel threw her arms on the nightstand, lazily reaching for the alarm and turning it off. She stretched herself out on the bed and stared at the ceiling, to keep herself fully awake. Her thoughts couldn’t help but wander back to her mate. He was everything she desired in a mate. Dylan pondered over the words he just heard. Did he hear correctly or was his ear playing tricks on him? His mate was in a relationship with another werewolf, not just any werewolf but her beta. Why does his life have to be this way? Why does everyone he’s connected to always make him feel like the second best in everything? Even his own mate who was well aware of his existence, who was supposed to desire only him found comfort in the arms of another werewolf. Why was he here, then? Isabel pushed him hard against the wall and slammed her lips on his for a hungry kiss. She desperately wanted to forget about the previous day’s incident, so she pressed herself harder against him, biting his lower lip for entrance. She explored every inch of his mouth, leaving no room for thought. He kissed her back with the same intensity as he has desired this moment for some time now. Isabel arrived home to find Fernando and Dylan in the living room. Fernando’s eyes were glued to the TV while Dylan’s thoughts was obviously somewhere else. His head jerked up the moment she closed the door behind her. They gazed at each other for what felt like forever until Dylan tore his eyes away from her with a frown evident on his face. “Why did you treat our mate that way?” Dylan’s wolf snarled at him, as he paced his room restlessly, mentally cursing himself for acting like an asshole towards his mate. “ I couldn’t help it. He had no clue what it felt like for a female werewolf in heat, since he was a male werewolf, but he could tell from Isabel’s body language when he had walked into the kitchen that she was in intense pain. Two days has gone by, and there was still no sign of Isabel anywhere. Dylan, too frustrated to continue his search had asked Fernando if he had clues as to where Isabel might be, but the teenager was of no help, so he gave up trying, to avoid whispers in the pack. Not comfortable with staying in the house without his mate, Dylan decided to distract himself by assisting Xavi in training the pack warriors, and so far, that has been helpful. Isabel stared at her fingers like they were the most interesting thing. Isabel was in her younger sister’s bedroom watching her as she played with her doll house. Teresa was Isabel’s world. She adores the young child with every fibre of her being and will do anything to protect her from harm. Isabel isn’t the only one who feels that way about Teresa, so does her parents. Couple of years after her parents had her, they tried having another child but it seemed impossible as her mom kept having complications during pregnancy, which led to several miscarriages. This was because her mom was an omega werewolf, the lowest ranked werewolf in any pack. Being mated to her dad gave her some strength, but it couldn’t be compared to the amount of strength received by any other higher ranked werewolf when mated to an alpha, most especially an alpha from the Pride pack. Her parents had almost given up hope of having another child before her mom discovered that she was pregnant with Teresa, and had successfully passed her first trimester. Dylan waved Xavi goodbye as he drove his grey Chevrolet sedan out of the driveway. It was 7:30pm when he got back from training the pack warriors. Xavi had offered to drive him home, seeing how stressed he looked after the training session, which he didn’t object. Within the three days Dylan has spent training the werewolves, he realized that there was nothing different about the werewolves from the Pride pack. They had similar characteristics, likes, dislikes, sense of humor, he could go on and on with the list. He realized there was nothing special or extraordinary about them, besides their large number, their zeal and dedication to fight at anytime,their will to lay down their lives for their pack, the unbreakable bond between humans and werewolves, and above all, their passionate belief and trust in their alphas.
