The morning of the wedding was clear and thw weather was cold.

Sebastian woke before the sun. He lay still, listening to Julian breathe beside him. They had broken tradition the night before, spending it together, and Sebastian was glad. He did not want to wake up anywhere else.

Julian's eyes fluttered open lazily. "Morning."

"Good Morning."

"Our day is finally here."

  • Ice In His Veins   Chapter 43: The Stand

The days after Julian's injury were a blur of hospital visits, physical therapy consultations, and phone calls with lawyers. Dante's suspension had been upheld, his contract was being terminated. He would never wear a Storm jersey again. The team held a private meeting without him. Coach Marshall stood at the front of the locker room. "Dante is gone," the coach said. "But we still have a playoffs to win and we still have a brother who is hurt." The room was quiet, players looked at each other. "Sebastian," the coach said. "Say something." Sebastian stood up, his voice was low and raw. "Julian cannot be here at the moment but he is watching. He is fighting to come back and we owe it to him to keep fighting too." Louie was not in the room, he was still suspended, still waiting, still hoping for a chance to make things right but something was about to change. Julian's surgery was scheduled for the day after Game Seven. Sebastian stayed by his side until they wheeled him into the

The playoffs arrived faster than anyone expected. The Vancouver Storm had fought their way to the first round. Their opponent were the Calgary Snow Wolves... Julian's team. Sebastian should have been excited. A chance to compete against his husband on the biggest stage but the tension in the locker room was thick. Dante was back from his suspension, and his anger had not faded. It had curdled into something darker. He did not make comments anymore, he did not whisper like he did before, he just watching and waiting "Keep your head up," Julian said on the phone the night before Game One. "Dante is going to target you." "He can try." "It is not you I am worried about. It is me." Sebastian's stomach tightened. "What do you mean?" "Dante hates you because of me. He thinks I am the reason you rejected him. He is going to take it out on me." "Then do not give him the chance. Avoid him on the ice." "I play forward. He plays defense. I cannot avoid him forever." Sebastian gripped t

The days after Sebastian confronted Dante were tense. Dante did not back off, he became more subtle and more dangerous. He did stopped texting Sebastian late at night, he stopped showing up at coffee shops, Instead, he started spreading lies. In the locker room, he told teammates that Sebastian was distracted that Julian was pulling him away from the game, that the captain's loyalty was divided. In the gym, he commented on how much time Sebastian spent on the phone with Julian. "Does he not trust you?" Dante asked. "Does he need to check in on you all the time?" At practice, he made small mistakes that forced Sebastian to correct him. Then he smiled and said, "Thanks, Captain. I knew I could always count on you." Sebastian tried to ignore it but the poison was spreading so fast. Julian noticed Sebastian coming home more tired than usual. "Talk to me," Julian said one night. "Nothing to talk about." "Dante is still pushing." Sebastian sighed. "He is not pushing. He is just...

  • Ice In His Veins   Chapter 40: The Confrontation

They had been back in Vancouver for three days now. Sebastian had not gone to practice yet. He had not answered any calls from the team, he had not even left the apartment, he just sat on the couch, staring at the wall, replaying every moment with Louie over the past year. The hugs, the jokes, the hangouts, the toast at the wedding... he couldn't believe that all of it were fake. Julian tried to help too. He made coffee, he always sat beside Sebastian and did not try to push, he just waited. "I have to see him," Sebastian said finally. Julian looked at him. "Are you sure?" "I cannot hide forever and I need to look him in the eye." Julian nodded. "I will come with you." "No. I need to do this alone." Julian studied his face. Then he kissed his forehead. "Okay. I will be here when you get back."♡♡♡♡♡ Sebastian met Louie at a coffee shop.It was a neutral ground. Somewhere they had gone a hundred times before. Louie was already there when Sebastian walked in, he was sitting

The cabin felt different now that they are married couple. Sebastian carried Julian over the threshold, because Julian said it was tradition and Sebastian said it was ridiculous but he did it anyway. Julian laughed the whole way. "You can put me down now," Julian said. "My leg hurts." Sebastian set him down gently. "You are a liar." "You caught me." They stood in the middle of the cabin, the same cabin where everything started, where they had first held each other, where they had survived the blizzard, where they had promised forever. The fire was already lit. The wine was chilling. The snow was falling outside. "Alone at last," Julian said. "Finally." Sebastian kissed him passionately and deeply. The world outside disappeared. They spent the first two days in a haze of happiness. They cooked meals together, sat by the fire. They made love in the afternoon light and talked about nothing and everything. Sebastian taught Julian how to play poker properly and Julian

"I think so." "Good because there is no turning back now." Julian laughed. "I would not turn back if I could." The ceremony was at the cabin. They had rented it for the weekend. The same cabin where they had first held each other. The same fireplace. The same windows looking out at the mountains. The same frozen lake where Sebastian had gotten down on one knee. The guests arrived in the late morning. Sebastian's mother, julian's mother, Louie and
