River Pack and the Vampires

Gabriel's POV

I was nervous as we pulled up to school. Here we are, back to the place I spent many nights alone crying. Crying and wishing Malaki would accept me.

I can't help it, I can't stop the memories that come flooding back as I watch the building come into view. My room was right across from his.... Both rooms I've kissed him in... In both rooms he kissed me back.... But in both rooms he also choked me in. Holding me against the wall by the throat and choking me until I fell unconscious.

Both rooms are where he told me we could never be together because we're both Alphas. In both rooms he reminded me that I'm not allowed to touch him.

Aside from that, I didn't mind being at school. It's not like I had enemies, I actually had a lot of friends. We, had a lot of friends. We shared the same friends, we hung out with the same people.

Which also made it difficult for me. Even when he didn't want to, he had to see me. I had to force a smile on my face and pretend everything was okay.

I had to pretend we weren't mates and he meant nothing more to me than a friend.

I feel the car stop as he puts it in park and I snap out of it. I was thankful my walls were up and he couldn't hear my thoughts or feel what I was feeling. He simply smiles at me.

"Ready!"

He said as he grabbed the handle and opened his door.

I swallow the lump in my throat then opened my door and step out of the car. 

I know I shouldn't be nervous or scared, but I can't help it. I can't help but wonder how he's going to react when we see our friends.

Is he going to push me away in front of them. Is he going to pretend like we're just friends again and not mates?

My stomach is in knots, I feel nauseous as I walk toward the building where our rooms are and our friends. 

He chose Thursday to arrive. It's the day we would normally have off. Knowing all our friends would have the day off, he wanted to come on this day so we could see our friends.

He practically bounces with excitement as he walks to the door. Looking back at me with the biggest smile on his face as he opens the door and holds it open for me.

"Come on, you're walking like a snail!"

He says and I roll my eyes at him and walk faster.

I watch as he looks at his phone and he gets even more excited. He fist pumps as he turns to look at me with the biggest smile on his face.

"Sweet dude, It's lunch time! Come on!" 

He said as he grabbed my hand, then dragged me down the hall.

I shook my head chuckling at my extremely happy mate. He practically ran down the hall. Letting go of my hand so he could run faster.

I watched as he flung the door open and ran inside, I caught the door before it closed then paused as I took a deep breath in before slowly letting it out and walked in. Trying to brace myself for whatever might happen.

I walk in and immediately hear everyone. I hear their happy voices as they greet Malaki.

Jimmy has Malaki in a bear hug as he lifts him up.

He sets him down and everyone walks up to greet him. 

"Damn man, I was beginning to think you guys weren't ever coming back!"

Jimmy says, as he turns to look at me with a smile. Get your little butt over here!

This idiot says, pointing to the ground in front of him. I laugh and shake my head as I approach him. Bracing myself for the hug that I know is coming. And sure enough, he scoops me up just like he did Malaki. Squeezing the life out of me as he lifts me up before placing me back on my feet.

I have to admit, it is good to see these guys again! I turned just in time to be embraced by Max, he's not usually one to give hugs so I was surprised when he wrapped me in a big hug.

But I was even more surprised at the growl I heard coming from Malaki when he saw Max hug me.

Max ignored the growl, I'm not sure if he understood why he was even growling. He let go then pats my shoulder as he smiles at me.

"Man, I thought you guys weren't coming back. I was beginning to worry about you, I know you said there was some bad stuff happening at home... Thought maybe something bad happened to you guys." 

He said as he looked at me then Malaki.

I looked at malaki who looked away. I could tell he didn't mean for that growl to come out and was probably embarrassed.

So it starts!.... I thought to myself and I look away. Alex called me over as he moved over and made room for me.

Calling my name as he tapped the seat next to him.

I walked over and sat down next to him, looking down at the end of the table to see Malaki sitting at the other end next to Jimmy. Already deep in conversation with them, without sparing me another look.

I swallowed the lump in my throat before forcing a smile on my face and turning toward Alex. 

I smiled as I listened to what he had to say. Telling me about everything we missed. The pranks they played on who and the pranks that were played on them....

Sometimes I wonder if school wasn't more about making friends just so we could play pranks on each other.

During the 20 minutes I sat there listening to Alex talk non-stop, I kept stealing a glance every few moments at my mate. I didn't miss the fact that not once did he look my way. 

I tried to ignore the ache I felt in my chest. I hate this, I hate being back here! I want to go home already. Back home where he's not afraid to be with me. 

As everyone was finishing up eating, I looked at the clock and noticed it was 20 minutes before the office closed. It closed early on Thursdays and I wanted to get in there and get our paperwork filled out as soon as possible. I don't want to stay here any longer than I have to.

"Well fellas, I'd love to stay and chat, but I need to get to the office before it closes."

I say as I stand up. I begin walking toward the door, looking back at Malaki just to see he hasn't even turned to look at me. He's still sitting there chatting away with Jimmy.

"Are you coming?"

I holler out to him and he looks at me then waves me off. My stomach drops and I turn and walk away. As soon as I'm out of the room I lean against the wall and grab my chest. I try not to feel it but I do. My chest hurts and I feel my eyes sting and burn as they fill with tears.

I stand there against the wall, taking several deep breaths in and out as I try to get rid of this feeling. 

Home... Home.... I just need to get those papers and fill them out. The sooner I do, the sooner we can grab our shit and get out of here!

I think to myself, as I push away from the wall then quickly run towards the office.

I was glad she didn't question anything as I asked for two sets of papers to leave school early.

I sat down at a desk furthest away from her and quickly filled everything out. Both mine and Malaki's.

I finished signing both of our names just as she was getting ready to close up.

I quickly walked forward then handed her the papers.

She looked them over as I chewed on my cheek nervously. I hope she doesn't ask for anything else, especially Malaki since he's not here.

"Okay, it looks like everything's in order. Mr. Brooks is back in the office tomorrow and he'll call your Alpha's to make sure this has been approved by them. As long as that is the case then everything will be set and your early dismissal from school will be approved."

"Thank you so much Cindy!"

"You're welcome Gabriel. You take care now! You're a good kid, I wish you the best!"

She says with a smile on her face. I reached out and shook the hand she had extended toward me.

I felt so relieved as I walked out of that office. This means we can leave tomorrow! I thought happily to myself, as I made my way back to our building and back to my room.

My stomach turns as I approach our rooms. I stopped in between both of our rooms. His room, which is right across from mine. I held my breath and listened, trying to see if he was in his room but all I heard was silence....

That silence told me he wasn't there and was probably still with our friends. I let out a sigh, as I opened my door and stepped into the dark empty room.

I flipped the lights on then stood there looking into my room. I looked at the floor where I woke up that time.

The time he choked me until I passed out in his room. I woke up later laying right there on the floor in my own room alone....

I close my eyes then took a deep breath in before slowly letting it out.

Running my hands down my face as I tried to clear my head before walking forward toward my bed.

Deciding I had enough for today, I laid down then turned the light off. I rolled over and faced the window, closing my eyes as I tried to go to sleep.

I laid there for over an hour before I pulled myself out of bed. Deciding to make use of the time, I began packing everything up.

After I packed everything I could, I laid back down and tried to go to sleep again.
