Chapter 12

Tyler smirked at Jean. "A woman who suggested divorce is now talking about securing her status. You think I'm easily fooled?"

Jean felt her heart racing under his gaze. Feeling dizzy, she stumbled backward and gripped the wall.

A wave of nausea hit her. Enduring the discomfort, she hissed, "Yes! I'd like a divorce! But I decided to stay with you only because I can take advantage of the title of Mrs. Larson!"

His eyes were devoid of warmth. Jean bit her lips with a look of determination. "You need my blood to save a life, and I need your reputation for my social standing. We can continue with this arrangement while leading separate lives. Doesn't that sound nice to you?"

He shot her a frosty look. "You'd better remember what you said today."

She gave him a light nod. "I will."

"If so, come to the hospital tomorrow morning for blood donation."

Her face paled upon hearing that. She had just donated blood that day. Donating again could affect her baby.

"No," she refused, gritting her teeth.

He scoffed mockingly, "You don't have a say. You need to fulfill your duties if you want us to lead separate lives."

She frowned and sighed. Her three years of marriage to him felt like a dream now. She felt upset but didn't show it.

"I bet you'd want to take all my blood if you could," she muttered.

Tyler glanced at her without emotion. "Why not? I'd do it if I could."

She took a deep breath. There was no longer any lingering affection for him. "Okay then," she agreed, even though she was reluctant to.

He cast an indifferent glance at her. Some mixed emotions briefly flashed across his eyes before he turned around to leave. "Chris will pick you up tomorrow morning. You'd better not play any tricks."

Then, he left the bedroom and slammed the door so hard that Jean almost went deaf. She struggled to stand as she grabbed at the wall.

Jean took a few deep breaths as she waited for the dizziness to go away. Then, she slowly made her way to the bed.

However, she felt nauseous by the bed. She had to rush to the bathroom and dry heave into the toilet. The sensation was absolutely horrible.

She bit her lips with a helpless look in her eyes. People would eventually learn about her pregnancy if she stayed at Oakside Villa. But Tyler would not let her leave if he found out she was pregnant. And it wasn't easy to escape from him either.

Jean stared at her tired reflection in the mirror. Her lips looked pale. She frowned and glanced at her belly, tears in her eyes. Now that Joyce was awake, things would go back to normal. Having the baby would only put the poor child in an awkward position. Logically, she shouldn't keep the baby.
