After Rain Stanton received a call from her best friend, Ursula, she went to the Senior Surgeon and asked for a half-day leave. She left the JHB Stanton Private Hospital and drove her car to the Green family mansion.

Ursula was in the living room with her mother-in-law, watching the baking competition.

At that moment, Butler Steve ushered Rain Stanton into the living room. Ursula was overjoyed. They hugged each other, smiling from ear to ear.

Rain looked at her best friend with eyes full of concern and asked, “Are you alright, my dearest Ursula?”

Ursula looked at her best friend and replied, “I don’t know, Rain. I have a feeling that a bad thing is going to happen. Daniel said maybe it was just hormones, but my heart is overwhelmed with fear.”

Rain pulled her into a tight embrace and said, “Let’s pray and ask the Lord to remove fear from your heart. Nothing bad is going to happen to you or your family.” Then Mrs Green led them in prayer.

To cheer her up, Rain smiled brightly and asked, “How are my precious nephews doing?” Ursula was thirty-five weeks pregnant with twins.

Ursula rubbed her big belly, smiling and replied, “Your nephews are very busy. I didn’t sleep a wink last night because of the heartburn and leg cramps. I am counting the days, Rain. I am so tired.”

Rain feigned anger and said, “My handsome nephews, please don’t give your Mom a hard time.

After you give birth to my little buns, I will move to the Green mansion to be their nanny.”

Ursula laughed out loud and asked, “Do you think Harvey will allow me to turn his gorgeous baby sister into a nanny? Why are you here? Are you not supposed to be at work, Dr Stanton?”

Rain Stanton was gorgeous. She was a rare beauty. Her eyes were a striking shade of violet. They were so rare and mesmerizing that everyone who encountered them felt captivated.

Her parents died in a plane crash when Rain was twelve years old and Harvey was sixteen years old. Harvey raised her sister single-handed, and he loved her so dearly.

When their parents passed away, Rain was already in her fourth year of a Bachelor of Medicine degree. She was brilliant, and she was the youngest surgeon in history.

The Stanton family was the wealthiest and most influential family in the country. They had several businesses in the investment industry, the mining industry, the jewelry industry, and the automobile industry across the country.

They also owned private hospitals across the country. The Stanton family dominated the economy of the country.

In the meantime, at the Green Group, Daniel Green was in the office with his first love. She pouted her mouth and asked, “Dan, when are you going to divorce your wife? I cannot wait to be Mrs Green.”

Daniel kissed her on top of her head and replied, “Sweetheart, please give me some time to handle this matter. Ursula is pregnant with my babies. I have to handle this matter with care because my parents love her the most.”

Patricia looked at Daniel, aggrieved, and said, “When Ursula was two months pregnant, why didn’t you ask her to abort the babies? Didn’t you promise to marry only me in this lifetime? I am tired of waiting, Dan. You have to choose me or her.”

A surge of anger arose in Daniel’s heart, and he asked, “Didn’t you dump me and secretly marry that wealthy old man? Please stop annoying me.

I love you, Patricia, but I am not stupid. Ursula is the best thing that has ever happened to me. She loves me unconditionally. So, please stop pushing me to divorce my wife.”

Patricia saw that she was speaking out of turn, then she held Daniel’s arm and said, “I am so sorry, Dan. It’s just that I love you so much, and I want to be your wife. Please take your time, my love.”

Daniel truly didn’t want to divorce his wife. He looked at her lover and said, “I think you have to resign as my secretary before my wife finds out. Stay in the apartment and wait for me.”

Daniel’s words shattered Patricia's heart completely. She lowered her gaze to hide hatred in her eyes and replied, “I will listen to you, my love. Later, I will go to HR to hand over my resignation.

I am so hungry. I am tired of eating takeaways. Please ask your wife to cook soft pap and steak for me.”

Daniel shook his head and replied, “Patricia, I told you that my wife is heavily pregnant. She has been forbidden to enter the kitchen. I will order your favourite food at His Wings restaurant.”

Patricia looked at Daniel with pleading eyes and said, “I want to eat home-cooked food, Darling. Please ask Ursula to cook for me just one time, my love. Then ask her to bring the food to the office.”

Then Patricia started touching Daniel’s beautiful abs. Daniel lost control, and they started doing the exercise on the sofa.

Daniel was so satisfied that he took his phone and dialed his wife’s number. When the call was connected, he said, “Hello, Ursula, I miss your cooking. Please prepare soft pap and steak. Don’t forget the salads. Please bring the food to the office.”

Ursula was dumbfounded. Did Daniel forget that she didn’t sleep last night because of leg cramps?  What if she hurt herself while she was cooking? She wanted to refuse, but she changed her mind.

Rain looked at her best friend’s troubled face and asked, “What is wrong, Ursula?” Her best friend shook her head and replied, “Daniel asked me to cook and deliver the food to the company.”

Her mother-in-law was so angry that she took her phone and dialed Daniel’s number. When the call was connected, she shouted, “Are you insane, Daniel? How could you ask your heavily pregnant wife to cook for you? You have no shame.”

A hint of irritation was evident in Daniel’s tone, and he replied, “Mom, being pregnant is not a sickness. You have pampered your daughter-in-law too much. Hence, she became lazy.” Then he dropped the phone.

His mother-in-law was rendered speechless. She was about to go to the kitchen to cook, but her daughter-in-law held her arm and said, “Let me cook for him, Mom.” Then she turned to Rain and said, “Please prepare salads for me, Rain.”

Rain was fuming with anger. When did Daniel become so unreasonable? However, she trailed behind Ursula.

After Ursula finished cooking, she went to her bedroom to change her clothes. She was beautiful in a blue knee-high maternity dress.

She took her designer handbag, then she headed to the kitchen. Rain had packed the food into the insulated lunch bag.

Rain took her car keys and said, “I will take you to the company.” Her mother-in-law hugged her, and then they left.

Who knows, maybe they will be able to find a loophole.”Mr Pearson’s eyes lit up when he heard Gia’s words. However, his eyes dimmed quickly when he remembered his lawyer’s words. Then he wrote, “My lawyer, Mr Marsh, indicated that the evidence was watertight and there was no error.”A faint smile played on Gia’s lips, and she said, “Mr Jungle’s senior lawyer mentioned that as well. However, everything under the sun has a price tag, Mr Pearson. If our legal team fails to find a loophole, we will fight to amend the sentence by appealing the 'without parole' clause. With the right strategy, your daughter could serve as little as twelve years before being eligible for release.”When Mr Pearson learned that there was a possibility of his beloved daughter serving only half her sentence, a profound s

Mrs Pearson looked at her husband, sadness in her eyes, and she asked, “Hubby, do you want me to call our family lawyer to help us with the appeal?”Before Mr Pearson could respond, Gerry Marsh walked into the private ward carrying a fruit basket. He greeted the couple with respect, and then he handed the fruit basket to Mrs Pearson.Mrs Pearson smiled brightly and said, “Thank you, Gerry. I was about to call you regarding my daughter, Zara’s sentence. We feel that Judge Cronje was too harsh. So, we want to appeal.”Gerry shook his head and replied, “I beg to differ, Mrs Pearson. Judge Cronje acted with impartiality. Zara had planned the crime from the start, and the sentence of life imprisonment is legally sound. Also, at no point during the proceedings did Zara demonstrate any remorse for the life she had stolen. I believe Judge Cronje considered that factor before he handed down the sentencing.I am sorry, Mr and Mrs Pearson. The trial was airtight, and we don’t have grounds for an
