Noah's
"And this is the fourth level of the East Wing. This is my room," Prince Keith beckoned as he opens his double-doors himself.
His room was spacey. His ceiling was painted in Greek pictures, his wardrobe was in the color of beige and his bed was twice my size at home.
"Woah, that is one large playhouse," I commented as I notice the other side of the room. It was a like a whole playground in one room. There was a mini castle, a wooden horse fit for his size and miniature figures that were at least 3 and a half feet tall.
"Well, I don't usually play anymore because of my asthma, but still, I use them because most of them are from Ruthy," He said as he slowly walked towards the toys.
I smirked. "So, your sister spoils you huh?" I teased.
"Correction, it’s 'the princess'." He cleared his throat.
We then walked back outside where he led the way to the room beside his which was on the other side of the hall.
"Now, this is my sister's room."
He was about to open the doors when we heard footsteps coming from the end of the hall. We both turned to look at the person coming.
"Your Highness, if I may ask, are you permitted to enter Princess Ruthy's room without her?" It was one of the guards who cuffed me yesterday.
"Yes, Sir Angelo. Don't worry, we're not going to steal or break anything," Keith- I mean Prince Keith said then opened the doors.
I was about to follow him but was blocked by the guard's arm. Woah, that arm is hard.
"U-uh, I'm with the Prince," I casually said.
"Only members of the Royal Family and those permitted by the Princess are allowed to enter her room," He firmly said while glaring at me.
Geez...what's his deal?
"It's okay, Sir Angelo. The whole royal family is aware," Prince Keith said from the inside of the room.
He glared at me for a solid 15 seconds before moving out of the way.
"Keep your hands to yourself," He whispered at me.
Princess Ruthy's room was even bigger than Prince Keith's. She had a nice king-sized bed with a rose-colored bedding and white covers. She had a beige double-door wardrobe and a marble bathroom. On the other side of the room, she had two tall shelves filled with books and photo albums.
When I walked to her desk, I noticed a picture of her in the garden. She was sitting by the fountain and two guards were behind her, one of them was Sir Angelo.
"Sir Angelo and Sir Saint has been Ruthy's loyal guards for 2 years now. We trust them the most here," Prince Keith said beside me as we both examine the picture.
Huh, so I guess everyone in this castle is already family. Guess I’m the parasite.
“Say, Noah. How did you and my sister meet?” Prince Keith suddenly asked then sat on the bed with his arms crossed.
“Well, it was during the parade for the orphanage. I just got here in Rinovea from Los Angeles and I thought it was a democratic country, so I thought your sister was like doing a cosplay or something.”
“Ha ha ha ha ha!” He suddenly laughed, like literally, it was genuine laughter. “I’m just glad you didn’t get killed,” He added and I stiffened. Was that actually a rule? What if my uncle wasn’t there to save me? Will Ruthy eventually kill me in that moment?
“Well, I can tour you to the West Wing of the castle or would you like to see your room?” He asked then stood.
My mind got a little excited for a minute there. One day, I’m a normal white boy with a pair of jordans and taking mirror selfies with my iphone but now, I’m wearing high-cut boots and apparently living in a castle in a country I don’t know of.
“That’s cool. I’d like to see where I’ll be staying at,” I politely said. I should never forget that they are royals and they can shoot me any second I speak something wrong.
When we got out, Sir Angelo stared at me again, like right through my soul. I felt so uncomfortable I thought I was wearing a gown when I got out.
“Come on man, I didn’t steal anything,” I said then raised my arms.
He raised his brow then looked at me from head to toe. “It’s Sir Angelo, Noah.” He really had to put diction in that, and wow, he already knows my name.
I shrugged it off then immediately followed Keith who was almost out of my sight. He really can’t wait for me huh. The rooms for the maids and chefs were on the same level as the Dining Hall. When we got to my room, I was expecting like a brown square room with a bunk bed and table, but damn-
“Wow. This is my room?” I asked. The room was pretty decent but elegant at the same time. There was a normal sized bed, my own wardrobe and desk, and I even have my own bathroom. The space was large enough for another bed and a TV, I’m just so glad it wasn’t a square room.
“We treat everyone in the palace as normal people. This is how we gain trust and build relationships with people,” He proudly said. I noticed there was a uniform on my bed, guess that’s mine.
“You can start today, if you want, but tomorrow is your actual day one, so it’s up to you,” He said before leaving. Of course, I didn’t forget to thank him for everything before I settled in my bed. I guess I don’t need to get my stuff at my uncle’s because when I checked my wardrobe, it was already filled.
I decided to check the kitchen. It was as large as an auditorium, but it wasn’t crowded or chaotic. There was enough people per station. When I saw someone decorating a cake, I thought it was the baking section.
“Hey. So, you’re the new guy huh?” The guy spoke to me while putting fruits on the cake.
“Yeah. It was purely luck when I saw the princess near the safe room. I was about to run outside when I heard her voice,” I said then leaned on the table.
“Thank you for that. For saving the princess.”
I looked at him. I guess everyone really respects Ruthy huh. So, she’s not that arrogant and stubborn type of princess like on the books. When I met her, she looked really respectful and intimidating, but she looked nice. The way she spoke was calm and did not feel cold or scary at all.
“Are you from the United States?” He suddenly asked after finishing the cake. He rubbed his hands on his apron then started cleaning his station.
“Yeah, I’m from Los Angeles. How did you know?” I asked as I helped him put the stuff away.
“I got it from your accent. I’m Kai, by the way. I lived in San Diego for 3 years before moving here in Rinovea.”
Huh, glad I have someone I can talk sense to. “Nice to meet you, Kai. I’m Noah.”
When I looked around, I saw everyone was busy despite being 3 in the afternoon. Are they preparing already for dinner?
“Say, uh, is there an occasion? Or is this the normal scene in the kitchen?” I asked and he chuckled.
“We’re getting a visit from the Kingdom of Wierxia. It’s going to be a small party in the Ball Room, only us.”
Okay, wow. I’m already going to meet another family of royals and I haven’t even started. I really need to learn the Do’s and Don’ts because that could eventually save my life someday. This is a new world for me and I am completely clueless.
“Oh, okay. Uh- can I help? I can make mousse cups.” I offered as I walk towards the door to get my apron from my room.
“Sure! And-oh! That’s Princess Ruthy’s favorite!”
Ruthy’s Me and my family are now in front of the main doors of the palace, patiently waiting for the Wilhems. I was holding a basket of sweets and Dad was holding a bottle of champagne. Keith, who is beside me, was fidgeting on his suit. “Keith, can’t you stay still?” Mom complained who was on his other side. “Sorry, Mom. My collar is a little uncomfortable,” He said, adjusting his collar. A few seconds later, the trumpets played and Sir Saint opened the doors. “Presenting, the Royal Family of Wilhem.” King Ricardo was in front, wearing a plain white coat with gold linings and an elegant single-layered silver crown. Queen Josephine, who wrapped her arm on King Ricardo’s arm, was wearing a long, asymmetrical plum dress with her hair in a bun and of course, the same crown King Ricardo was wearing. Behind them, was Princess Althea and Prince Thomas. Althea was wearing a yellow pouf dress that reached her knees and
"That- is crazy," Althea exhaled as I finish my story about the invasion. I laid down on the carpet we settled and sighed. "I told you. The world is giving me everything lately." She laid beside me and said, "By everything, you mean Noah too?" I stiffened and she laughed. "Don't tease me like that. Nothing is going on between us," I explained. Why is she even having those thoughts? I haven't even spoke about Noah yet and she only saw him once! And it was while he was serving us food! "Eh- don't put it that way. I didn't even say it like that." and she teased me even more. She laughed and I laughed too, but then I felt my chest tighten that I had to place my hand on it. She suddenly stopped. "Are you okay? Is it the wound?" She softly asked. I smiled at her. "It’s like some side effects. I guess the wound was too deep after all. It was weird for it to miraculously heal so fast." She hugged me lightly. "I guess we
I was dozing off during breakfast and my Mom seemed to notice. "Ruthy, dear? Are you alright?" She asked. Everyone then stopped eating and looked at me. I stopped halfway from swallowing when their eyes were on me. "I'm fine, Mom. I just didn't get a good sleep last night." I notice Thomas grin who was now in frontof me by the table. I rolled my eyes at him. "Is your wound still bothering you?" Dad asked with concern in his voice. I hate it when I stress my Father out. I don't want to be a nuisance to him especially when he's handling so many things right now. I held my chest softly. "Not really. I think the stitches just tighten from time to time. It means it’s healing right?" Dad exhaled and smiled at me. "Yes dear. I'm glad to hear you're healing. So don't go around being energetic and all for a while, alright?" I nodded then peeked at Thomas who's grin now disappeared. All through-out breakfast, he was quiet. The Wilh
Noah offered to sit by the garden when I calmed myself down. "Aren't you supposed to be working?" I asked as we sat down by the bench, facing the castle. He shrugged. "I finished my part anyway. So, care to explain why you were crying in the hallway?" I sighed then brushed my hair. "I can't. Well, I- I'm just getting tired and confused that's all," I excused. I can't tell Noah what's happening between me and Angelo. I don't know if I can trust him already, but I have this feeling that I already do. Noah became so attached to me already, I can't seem to hate him anymore. My family likes him, even Althea likes him. I owe him my life. He leaned against his back, "If I were you, I'd just escape the castle for a while and go out, you know," I giggled. That is such a 'Noah' thing to do. "Hey, I haven't asked you. What's your full name?" He suddenly asked. "Ruthyelia Celeste Nobingale. Well, Nobingale of Rinovea, if I may add."
"In two days time, we can visit the new bakery you built for Noah, dear," Dad said as he placed the books back on the shelves. We just finished our afternoon lessons. This time, it was about the people's characteristics. He taught me how to communicate with the people and how to earn their trust. He said that what matters most to the people is our relationship with them and how we see them as humans. I gathered the papers on my table then handed it to him. "That's nice. I can't believe it's already done." "You said you didn't want it to be too grand or too simple, so the engineers really did their best this time." Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. "King Andriego?" We turned and saw Queen Josephine by the door. I stood and curtsied. "Yes, Queen Josephine?" Dad answered as he straightened his coat. "If I may so, I would like to request for something," She started. "Of course. What is it?" She took a deep br
It’s finally the day. Brylle's 20th birthday. My maids put me on a beige long gown with long sleeves and I'm telling you, it is the most uncomfortable dress I have yet I have to wear it since Queen Josephine likes the color beige. "I don't know why I'm nervous. I don't know," Althea said as she keep on pacing. She got ready earlier than me and now she's ranting here in my room while I get ready. "Why are you nervous? There's nothing to be worried about," I assured her as my maids busy themselves. She continued pacing. "I don't know. I just feel like something is going to happen." I sighed then peeked at her at my mirror. "Relax, Althea. Nothing is going to happen. Unless Brylle suddenly shows up and thanks us for the feast," I joked. She inhaled sharply. "Oh my gosh, what if he does?" I giggled. Althea sometimes gets paranoid from stuff like this, like occasions. She's a very bright and energetic woman but she still has a soft spot for
When we reached the gate, Angelo and Saint were wearing their black suits. My eyes sparkled at Angelo. I guess my love for him won't easily fade even when he's ignoring me. I gave them a two-finger salute. "Ruthy!" Althea called as she waves her fan. She was wearing a yellow high-waist dress with a white scarf on her neck. Simple and colorful outfits really suit her despite her age- not that I'm saying she's old or anything. "We will be taking the train today since the bakery is located near your Uncle's house in the South-East, right?" Dad told Noah. "Yes, Your Majesty," Noah answered as we sat in the carriage with Angelo and Saint outside odn their horses. The train station wasn't far from our palace. We had our own train that we can take anytime of the day. I sat at the window side of the train and Althea was beside me. "Is the bakery filled yet?" Althea asked. I giggled. "Maybe. Don't tell me you're going to take some food?"
The moment we stepped foot on the train, it immediately moved. Dad and Noah were pacing all over the train, Althea was silently crying and Ford was praying. "Ruthy!"Dad and Althea embraced me. "Are you hurt? Why is there blood on you?" Dad frantically asked. "I just hurt my ankle, but..." I looked behind me and Saint entered while carrying Angelo. "Oh my god," Dad whispered then came to help Saint. "Your Majesty..." Saint said. "Please, let me help you. You're our family, remember?" Dad and Saint lay Angelo on the floor. He was still conscious and he was holding down my handkerchief on his wound. Dad stood then went to the other side of the train. I knelt beside Angelo then held his hand. "You're gonna be okay," I said. Saint looked at me, worried about the people around us. I didn't care. I finally didn't care. He was dying in front me, I have no time to pretend anymore. Althea knelt beside
