What happened to Mrs. Brown?

It was a quiet morning when Veronica slowly emerged from her room. She looked disheveled and as though she had been crying.

She stepped out into the hallway and looked up to see Mr. Oaks, standing in front of her with a concerned expression on his face.

Mr. Oaks noticed her and immediately felt a pang of concern.

He slowly approached her and asked her, "Veronica, is everything okay?"

Veronica perked up her eyes at him, her eyes red from crying.

She replied, “I don't know, I've been doing a lot of thinking lately."

"About what, dear?" Mr. Oaks asked knowingly.

Veronica hesitated for a moment before eventually speaking to him. "About what you told me the other day.”

She bites her lips and added. "About you being my biological father."

Mr. Oaks's heart skipped a beat. He had been dreading this moment for days. He had known that eventually, Veronica would find out the truth, and he knew he had to tell her.... but he had hoped that it wouldn't be this painful.
