Seventeen: The Stranger

Inez’s POV.

Ingrid’s voice pierced through the silence of the room, commanding me to do the dishes, sweep the floor, clean the bathroom, do the laundry, and prepare dinner. I bowed my head in submission, knowing that I had no choice but to obey her orders. As I walked towards the kitchen, I couldn't help but feel a sense of bitterness towards Ingrid. She was the reason I was in this predicament.

I used to be happy before Ingrid came into my life. I had dreams of finding my true mate and starting a family, but those dreams were shattered the moment I was chosen to be Ingrid's personal mate. From then on, my life revolved around her, and I was forced to do her bidding.

As I washed the dishes, I couldn't help but think about what my life could have been like if I wasn't bound to Ingrid. Maybe I would have found my happiness. But those thoughts were quickly pushed aside as I heard Ingrid's footsteps approaching.
