"I don’t love you anymore, Amara." Prince Gilan’s words shattered me. Blinded by love, I did the unthinkable to win him back—but it only pushed him further away. Now, as he prepares to marry Elena, I’m left wondering: Will he ever forgive me? Or has my love cost me everything?

“We have landed at the airport. Thank you for traveling with Safe Travels Line.” Thank heavens, I have finally arrived safely back in my hometown. The last time I left this place, I was just a boy heading abroad to pursue my studies. That was ten years ago. Now, I have returned, not as a boy, but as a grown man and a proud graduate. I know my parents will be so proud of me. My name is Gilan June. I’m the only son of my parents, their pride and joy. They adore me deeply, and I love them just as much. I’m also the firstborn child, with a younger sister named Juliet. My father is the king of our land, which makes me a prince. My mother is the queen, and Juliet is our beautiful princess. Our family is greatly respected in the kingdom. The palace is heavily guarded at all times. I’ve always felt incredibly blessed to be born into royalty. It came with many privileges, one of them being the opportunity to study abroad. “My prince, the car is here,” my driver called out. He had come to pick me up from the airport. “Alright, let’s go,” I replied as I led the way. He carried my luggage, and we made our way outside. As we stepped into the open air, I took a deep breath. The fresh scent of home filled my lungs, bringing back countless memories. I had missed this place more than I realized. “At last... I’m back. This feels so good,” I said with a smile on my face. “My prince, it seems you really missed this place,” James, the driver, said warmly. “I can see it in your eyes.” James had served our family for many years. He was more than just a worker, he was a trusted companion. I remembered how close we used to be; I could tell him anything, and he was always someone I could rely on to keep a secret. “Yes, James. I missed it terribly. But more than anything, I missed my parents. I can only imagine how eagerly they’re waiting for me at the palace. I can’t wait to see them,” I said sincerely. “They certainly are, my prince. So let’s not delay any longer,” James replied, and I nodded in agreement. He placed my bag in the trunk and got behind the wheel. As we drove, I rolled down the window and gazed outside, curious to see how much had changed in my absence. The transformation was noticeable, there had been a lot of development. My father was clearly leading the kingdom in the right direction. He had always been a great ruler, loved by all. The palace was about thirty minutes away from the airport. James drove carefully, and soon, we arrived. Even from a distance, I could see that the palace had been renovated. It looked nothing like it did when I left, it was now more elegant, modern, and majestic. “The prince has arrived!” one of the guards called out. The gatekeeper opened the gates, and James drove us inside. After parking the car, I stepped out. “Welcome home, my prince,” the palace maids greeted me warmly. I smiled at them, touched by the heartfelt welcome. Standing at the entrance, I saw my parents holding bouquets of roses. I walked toward them and hugged them tightly. I had missed them more than words could express. I couldn’t believe I had spent so many years without them by my side. “Welcome home, son,” my father said proudly. “Thank you, Father. I missed you all so much. I’m grateful to find you alive and well,” I replied. “And we’re grateful you’ve returned safe and sound,” my mother added, handing me the roses. “Thank you, Mother. But... where’s Juliet? I don’t see her here,” I asked, looking around. “Oh, she’s at the university. But she promised she would come home to see you,” my mother explained. “Do you miss your sister that much?” my father asked with a smile. “Very much. We haven’t been in touch often lately,” I admitted. “She’s just been busy, dear. But you’ll see her soon,” my father reassured me. “Alright then, let’s head inside,” my mother said cheerfully. “There’s plenty of food waiting for you. Are you hungry?” I could already imagine the delicious dishes she had prepared. I’d missed the local cuisine so much, and today, I planned to eat until I was full. “I’m starving, Mother,” I said honestly. As I entered the palace, one of the guards carried my bag to my room. I was exhausted, and all I wanted was to eat and rest. I’d take a walk around the town later once I’d had a good nap. “Mmmh... Mother, this food is amazing. I missed these flavors so much,” I said as I dug into the meal. “I’m glad you like it, son. Everything was prepared especially for you,” she replied, clearly pleased. “Thank you, Mother. I think I’ll go rest in my room now,” I said, starting to rise, but then my father stopped me. “There’s something important I need to tell you,” he said in a serious tone. I sat back down, sensing the weight in his voice. “What is it, Father? Please tell me,” I said. “Well... someone has been waiting for your return,” he began. “Do you remember Amara, your girlfriend? She’s been eagerly waiting to reconnect with you. And after speaking with her family, we’ve decided it’s time for the two of you to get married.” His words shocked me. Amara? I had almost forgotten about her. It had been so long. We hadn’t spoken in years, and the truth was, our relationship had ended long ago. I didn’t love her anymore. “Marriage? Father, why would you decide such a thing without consulting me first? I’m not sure I want to marry her,” I said, trying to keep calm. “You will marry her,” he replied firmly. “Everything has already been arranged with her family.” I turned to my mother. “Mother, what is happening? Why are you both rushing this decision?” Without waiting for a reply, I stood and walked away, heading to my room. I needed time to think and clear my mind. I don’t want to marry Amara. She’s the last person I could imagine spending the rest of my life with. No matter what, I will not go through with this marriage.Elena’s POVThe morning sunlight filters through the curtains. I stretch slowly, feeling the gentle weight of our baby moving inside me. Each kick, each tiny roll, reminds me that life is full of miracles, even after all the pain and heartbreak I have endured.I glance over at Albert, still asleep beside me, his hand resting lightly on my stomach. A small smile curves my lips. I never thought I would feel this peaceful, this safe, this complete.Albert stirs, opening his eyes and finding mine. “Good morning, my love,” he whispers, his voice low and full of warmth.“Good morning,” I reply, my hand tightening slightly on his. “Did you sleep well?” I add.He nods, brushing a stray lock of hair from my face. “I did, because I know you’re here. And I can feel our little one too. I can’t wait to meet him,” he says.I laugh softly, the sound light and free. “Me neither." I say.Albert chuckles, and for a moment, the room is filled with nothing but our shared joy. The past, Gilan, Amara, the
Gilan’s POVIt’s been five months since I left the hospital. Five months of silence, of quiet nights that stretch too long, of walking through the palace halls feeling like a ghost of the man I used to be. The pain from my injuries has faded, but the emptiness inside me is louder than any wound. Elena has never come back to see me at the hospital. We only talked a few times while I was still at the hospital, but after I got out, the phone calls stopped. I haven't spoken to her since then. Today, I decide what I have been avoiding for weeks. I want to see her. Just for once. To see how she is living without me. To see if she’s okay. My heart pounds as I step outside.I get into my car, gripping the wheel tightly. I drive slowly. With the calls we had made back then at the hospital, I had managed to track her down, and I currently know where she stays. I tell myself I will keep my distance, that I will just observe. I do not want to disrupt her life, do not want to interfere. But a
Amara’s POVThe days after Hellen’s death blur together like a nightmare that refuses to end. Each morning I wake up with a pounding in my chest, as if my own heart is screaming at me for what I have done. Her face never leaves me. Those final moments, her lifeless eyes staring at me.I try to move on, to pretend as if nothing happened, but the silence of the house betrays me. Every corner carries her shadow, every sound reminds me of her laughter. My guilt follows me like a curse. And then the whispers start. People in the neighborhood ask where Hellen is why she hasn’t been seen. Her family searches. The police knock on doors, making their inquiries.Every knock in the street makes my skin crawl. Every voice raised outside makes me shiver. My hands shake even when I am alone. Deep down, I know I cannot escape forever.* * * * * * * * * * *That evening, when the knock comes on my door, I freeze.“Open up, this is the police!”My heart stops. I want to run, to hide, but where can I g
Albert’s POVI get back home, and what I see makes my heart race. Elena is lying on the couch, sleeping. For a moment, I think something bad has happened to her. My chest tightens as panic takes over. I drop my briefcase without a second thought and rush to her side.“Elena, my love,” I call out, my voice trembling as I tap her cheeks. Her eyelids flutter open, and she whispers weakly, “My love,” as she struggles to sit up.The sight of her breaks me. She looks so sick, her eyes heavy and filled with exhaustion. I cannot hide the fear in me anymore.“Let’s go to the hospital. Please,” I say firmly, carrying her gently into my arms before she can resist.“I can walk, love,” she says softly. “I’m weak because I haven’t taken anything since morning.” She says. Her words make my heart ache. “Why? I had already prepared breakfast. Why didn’t you eat?” I ask, my voice a mix of worry and frustration. I’m angry, not at her, but at the fact that she is suffering like this and I feel helpless
Elena’s POV“My love, I will be off now. I will head to work now,” I hear Albert’s gentle voice say to me. His words pull me from the edge of sleep, and though I don’t open my eyes right away, I can already feel the warmth of his presence hovering near me.“Okay, love. Have a wonderful day,” I say softly, curling into the blanket and covering myself as if the blanket could protect me from how fragile I felt inside.“Aren’t you going to school?” he asks, his tone carrying both curiosity and concern.I slowly look at him, his tall figure standing by the bed, his eyes looking at me carefully. “No, I am feeling so bad today. And plus, our final exams are around the corner, so I will just study at home,” I reply, my voice heavy and weak.He immediately moves closer to me, his brows furrowing. “How are you feeling? Should I take you to the hospital?” He asks. He has missed work for two days just to stay by my side. I don’t want to hold him back anymore. Forcing a small smile, I whisper,
Albert’s POVWe stepped out of the hospital into the cool evening air. For a moment, I just stood still, breathing in deeply, trying to steady my heart. The air outside was lighter than the suffocating silence I had endured while waiting for Elena, but it did nothing to calm the storm inside me.The whole time she was with Gilan, I tried to remain calm. I told myself again and again that I trusted her, that love was stronger than jealousy, and that she came here only because her conscience demanded it. But my chest still tightened every second she was in that room with him.I imagined her sitting by his side, holding his hand, perhaps shedding tears for him. I pictured him weak and fragile, whispering her name, asking her to stay. And I feared, truly feared, that she might feel pity for him. That pity could turn into love again, or at least into something strong enough to make her choose him over me.And if that happened, what would become of me?I shook off the thought, but it clung
