In Love With The Prince

Prince Gilan's POV.

“We have landed at the airport. Thank you for traveling with Safe Travels line.”

Thank God I have arrived safely at my hometown. I remember the last time I left my town and went to another country because of my studies. It was like five years ago. I was a little man back then. But now, I am all grown up and, presently, a graduate. My parents will be so proud of me.

My name is Gilan June. The only male child to my parents. I am the apple of my parents eyes. They love me so much, and I love them the same way they love me. I am also the firstborn, I have a younger sister, Juliet.

My father is a king of my land, which makes me a prince. My mother is a queen and my sister a princess. We are so respected in my town. We have guards guarding the palace every time. I am glad that I was born into a royal family. This gave me, so many privileges like studying outside the country.

“My prince, the car is already here.” My driver says.

He came to pick me up from the airport.

“Ok, let's go.” I say as I lead the way. He takes my bag, and we start heading out of the airport.

I breathe fresh air while I am outside. It has been a while since I was here, and I had missed this place so much.

“At last, I am here. This is so nice.” I say with a smile on my face.

“My prince, it's like you missed this place so much. I can see it in your eyes.” The driver says.

His name was James. He has been working for our family for years now. He was a trusted worker and I remember we were so close back then. I could share everything with him, and he could always keep a secret.

“Yes, James. I had missed this place with passion. But what I miss more is my parents. I know they must be eagerly waiting for me to get home. I can't wait to see them.” I say.

“Yes, they are waiting for you. So let us not waste any more time. Let's go already.” He says, and I agree with him.

He placed my bag inside the boot and he starts driving. I lower the car's mirror and I look outside. I was curious to see what had changed while I was away, and I could see that a lot of development took place. Clearly, my father was ruling the town in the right direction. He was always the best anyway, and everybody in this town loved him so much.

The airport and the palace was like thirty minutes apart. James drives the car carefully and within minutes, we arrive.

I could see from outside that my parents renovated the palace. It was not the same as I left it years back. It looked beautiful and classy now.

“The prince is here.” I hear one guard shouting.

The gatekeeper opens the gate and James drives the car inside. He carefully parks it and I come outside.

“Welcome home, my prince.” The female palace maids say to me and I smile at them. This was such a warm welcome.

I could see my parents standing at the door holding roses on their hands. I slowly walk to them and I give them tight hugs. I had missed them so much. I wonder how I survived all those years without them by my side.

“Welcome home son.” My father says.

“Thank you father. I had missed all of you so much. I am glad to find you alive and well.” I say.

"We are also glad that you are alive and well.” My mother says, and she hands me the flowers.

“Thank you mother. Where is Juliet? I have not seen her here.” I ask.

“Ooh, she is in the university now. She said she will be back to see you.” My mother says.

“Do you miss your sister that much?” Dad asks.

“So much, we have not been talking much these days.” I say.

“She is just busy, my dear. But you will see her soon.” My dad says.

“Ok, let's go inside now. There is plenty of food waiting for you inside. Are you hungry?” My mom asks.

I know she has prepared a lot for me. I had missed my town's food so much, and I swear I will eat to my full.

“I am starving, mother.” I say.

I slowly walk inside the palace. One of the guards takes my bag to my room. I was so tired, and I just wanted to eat and rest. I will then take a walk around the town after I wake up.

"Mmh, mother, the food is delicious. I had missed this food so much.” I say.

“I am glad you liked it, my son. It was prepared specially for you.” My mother says.

“Thank you mother. I am so tired. Let me now go rest in my room.” I say, and I am about to get up when my dad stops me.

“There is something I want to inform you.” My dad says in a serious tone. I sit back to listen to him.

“What is it, father. Tell me.” I say.

“Well, someone has been waiting for you. Have you forgotten Amara, your girlfriend? She has been waiting for you so that you can continue with your relationship. And we have decided to get the two of you married as soon as possible.” My dad says, and I am surprised.

How come I totally forgot about Amara? I remember her after my dad has mentioned her. And marriage? Why so sudden? I am not ready to marry her. I mean I don't love her anymore. So many years have passed, and our relationship ended years ago.

“Dad, marriage? Why did you decide without my consent? I am not sure that I want to marry her.” I say.

“No, you will marry her. Because we have already discussed everything with her family.” My father says.

“Mother, what is all this. I don't understand why you are rushing this.” I say.

I get up, and I start heading to my room. I needed to clear my mind.

I don't want to marry Amara. She is the last woman on earth I want to spend my life with, and that is final. There is no way I will marry her.
