"Are you two still together?"

I sighed. Wondering if mom knew already. "Yes. We're still together. We're just going through the usual."

"Which is?"

I lifted my legs on the table and ran my hand through my hair. "Mom, there is no need for you to worry. I've told you. We're fine."

She stared at me in disbelief. "Are you stupid or too blind to see that he'll hurt you after this?"

I was already getting angry. "He won't."

She touched my arm. "Laurel--"

I flared up from my chair immediately. "Mom please! Can everyone please stop telling me what to do? I'm sick and tired of everyone thinking they can just bend me however they want. I'm sick and tired of it! I wish I can just disappear to a place where I can be whoever I want without people telling me what and who to be." I said and started for the stairs.
