Chapter 47

The flight coming from Santa Clara, arrived to Los Angeles, at 7:12 pm exactly. Dominik got off the plane and called his sister immediately. She indicated she was staying at the Crowne Plaza, so Dominik headed there right away to change his clothes.

First thing he did when he met his sister was to ask to use the restroom. However, , Karol jumped on him, holding him tight. Although they hadn't met in months and how much Dom loved his sister, he was not the type to hug people. His sister knew that, so it was always only her, adoring him like another one of his fans, and, she loved him. A love pure and strong. A love only an older sister who watched him grow, learn to walk and take his first steps could only feel. Karol saw the clear resemblance of their father in Dominik.

After a couple minutes and a last minute reservation of the most exclusive spots in town by miss Weigand, Dominik and her left towards what would become an unforgettable evening.

“How did you find this place?” Asked Dominik, once in the taxi.

“A friend said it's one of the most exclusive restaurants in town. He also said they have some of the best cocktails in the country.”

Dom nodded, very typical in him, when he pretended to care. His thought were actually someplace else.

»I can't believe you were in town and never went there” Karol carried on.

“I was rather busy with various engagements” he said.

“Such as?” She inquired, frowning.

Dominik smiled mischievously.

»Oh my God! You have been fluttering flower to flower” his sister laughed out loud.

“No. Not flower to flower, just one flower” he clarified playfully. “On another note” Dom was a specialist dodging subjects. “Have you talked to mom lately?”

“I have, yesterday. She mentioned something about traveling next week, something about waiting on you here in LA.”

“Right. I told her it would be easier if we met here. You know her, she wanted to tag along on the Team's plane, but I don’t think that could have been a good idea. You know, guys cuss, they fart, all the girl talk… I did not think that could have been the best environment for lady Patricia.”

Karol laughed out loud from the way Dom referred to his mother.

“I would have loved watching you play, but…”

“It is fine. I get it” Dominik squeezed her hand to comfort her. He knew her sister's job left her not much spare time left. It had been a miracle they managed to meet that night.

“And you're coming back to Los Angeles to dispute…?” She asked an open question.

“Semifinals.”

“If you make it” said Karol.

“We will” he answered and winked.

The taxi stopped right before a fancy building.

The siblings took no time heading for the entrance of the place.

A dark skinned man welcomed them from the other side of the door, conducting them to the elevators.

“How did you get Ewald to let you come see me?” Karol asked.

“He does not know.”

“What? Are you out of your mind?”

“It is no big deal. He will not even realize I left. Worry not. I will be back in the hotel by noon, ready for practice.”

The doors of the luxurious elevator opened at the Pent House, revealing to their eyes a beautiful sight. The place was very nice, they had modern lamps hanging from the wooden ceiling, exquisite decoration in various tones of brown. Gorgeous wooden tables and a couple very comfortable sofas.

“Good evening, welcome to Perch LA. Do you have a reservation?” A sweet young hostess welcomed them.
