Chapter 48

Samanta couldn't stop staring at her sweaty, shaky hands. It was beyond her how in the world she agreed to come here, why she had accepted Alan's invite when all she could ever think about was Dominik.

She shook her head and forced herself to focus in the present time. She looked around and a smile came to her lips. They were in the place she had dreamed of for so long.

“Wow! I can't believe you landed a reservation here. What if I had said no?” She asked.

“I would have been a fool eating by myself” he replied.

Samanta laughed silently and Alan did, too.

“It is just what I imagined. Stunning” said Sam, indulging in the beautiful sight of town.

“The most precious part is right before my eyes” said Alan in a whisper and Sam blushed when she realized he was looking at her. “Sam… I…” Alan stuttered, while holding Sam's hand, who pulled her hand back right away.

“Alan, please, I don't want to lead you on. I don't…” Alan set his fingers on Samanta's lips.

“Shhh… Please, Sam, let me talk” Sam nodded. “I need you to listen to me, please.”

“Okay.”

“I was an absolute jerk, a douche bag. I admit to it” he said and Samanta knew she could not contradict that. “But I was scared, terrified… I was not ready to…”

“Are you trying to justify what you did with your fear to become a father?” Samanta's jaw almost hit the ground.

“No. No. Of course not, I…”

“I almost died from an over dose. From doing what you asked me to do. Apart from killing an innocent life” Sam felt offended.

“Sammy, I never…”

She got lost in the echo of Alan's voice, looking straight into his eyes, she could not remember that awful night when he forced her to inject a high dose of heroin into her veins and take a bunch of MDMA pills. But, who would ever give that kind of drugs to a person who had only ever tried marijuana in her life? Alan would.

Samanta never managed to understand whether Alan did this knowing she could have died, or if, maybe, that had been his real intention to begin with. Killing two birds with one stone.

Her eyes flood in tears, everything around her started spinning. What was she doing there? She figured, maybe, if she went out with Alan, she could have forgotten that infatuation she had going on for Dominik, but she was only getting the exact opposite, the German footballer kept popping up in her head more and more. Thinking how he would never do something to her as awful as what her ex had done. She felt like she was in the middle of a destructive current. In front of her, her first true love, the owner of a huge chunk of her heart, but she learnt this did not mean she still loved him, but he did not deserve to be forgiven.

In her mind, the image of Dominik Weigand, an amazing man in every aspect who, ever since they met, filled her with beautiful memories. The kind of romance she never knew with Alan.

What to do?

Alan showed up out of the blue, pretending to be in love, acting like she would forget the nasty things he did to her.

She couldn't take any more, she stood up, ran out and left Alan in confusion.
