Garrett's POV

I hadn't been to the pack house in few months.

Which meant I had completely missed training sessions, missed the weekly meetings, missed the casual time that kept me connected to the people who had been my entire world for years.

Josh was the first one to see me when I walked in, and he practically tackled me with a strong hug of greeting.

“Sir, where the hell have you been?" he asked. "You've been completely ghost on us."

"Working on the program with Tamara," I said. "It's been i

  • In love with my Ex’s Rival:The Ice Hockey Rival   The symbol

Elena's POVAfter Tamara left, I sat on that bench for another twenty minutes.I thought about everything she was carrying. About how exhausted she looked. About how she was running on determination and I thought about how I could actually help.I called Dante."Hey," he said, answering on the second ring like he'd been waiting. "What's up?""I need to design something," I said. "Something important. Can you meet me at the studio?"Three hours later, we were spread across the design tables with sketches everywhere."So you want to create a unified symbol," Dante said, studying the rough sketches I'd brought. "Something that represents all the packs coming together?""Not just a symbol," I said. "A complete visual identity. Something that makes the confederation real and tangible. Right now it's abstract packs meeting, agreeing, coordinating but if every pack wore the same symbol, used the same materials... that makes it visible. That makes it mean something."Dante looked at me, and I

Tamara's POV I was crossing the quad between my Chemistry class and the library when Elena called my name. I hadn't seen her in months. Between the program, the coordination with packs, and the constant Council meetings, I'd barely had time to breathe, let alone maintain friendships. But Elena was suddenly there, walking toward me with an expression that shifted from excited to concerned in about two seconds. "Tamara," she said, catching up to me. "I was hoping I'd run into you. I feel like we haven't actually talked in forever." "I know," I said, and the guilt hit immediately. "I'm sorry. Everything's been….." "Insane, I know," she said. "I heard about the program being a massive success. That's amazing. But….." She stopped walking and looked at me carefully. "Are you okay? You look like you haven't slept in a week." I must have looked worse than I thought. "Just exhausted," I said, which was true but incomplete. "Come sit with me," Elena said, grabbing my hand. "Right

  • In love with my Ex’s Rival:The Ice Hockey Rival   The confederation begins

Garrett's POV I called the emergency pack meeting at midnight. Every wolf from eighteen to sixty showed up at the main hall…..which told me they already knew something was wrong. Word travels fast through the supernatural community, and by evening, everyone had heard about Ashford Pack being attacked. I stood at the front of the room, and instead of waiting for panic to start, I just told them the truth. "Ashford Pack territory was attacked last night," I said. "Three injured, one seriously. The Council is calling it a coordinated strike by a group calling themselves the Sovereignty Movement. They're opposing confederation." The room erupted with questions. I let them talk for five minutes, then raised my voice. "We have two choices," I said. "We can either isolate ourselves and hope they don't target us next. Or we can form a formal defense alliance with Ashford and show every other pack watching that unity actually works." "That means we're at war," someone said from the back

  • In love with my Ex’s Rival:The Ice Hockey Rival   The first attack

Tamara's POVThe summons came in the middle of Biochemistry. My phone buzzed with a text from an unknown number: “Elder Thorne requests your immediate presence at Council chambers. Urgent.”I packed my bag while Professor Chen continued lecturing, grabbed my jacket, and left. People didn't summon you to Council chambers unless something was wrong. My mind spiraled through possibilities…..Was it Garrett? Lucas? Has something happened to the program? Was there an issue with the Council itself?I'd never been summoned like this before.Elder Thorne was waiting for me in the main chamber, and his face told me everything. This was bad."What happened?" I asked without a preamble."Ashford Pack territory was attacked last night," he said quietly. "Three wolves were injured, one seriously. They defended the territory, but it was barely held."My stomach dropped. "Lucas?""In Portland," Elder Thorne confirmed. "This wasn't his direct pack attacking. It was remnants…..wolves who left when pac

  • In love with my Ex’s Rival:The Ice Hockey Rival   Choosing myself again

Lucas's POVThe bookstore was closing for the day when my phone rang.I recognized the number immediately. My father. The first time he'd called in four months.I let it ring. Finished counting the register, shelved the last stack of returns and then locked the front door. I sat in the back office and called him back because ignoring him would just mean more calls, more pressure, more interruptions."About damn time," he said when he picked up. Not a greeting. Just aggression."Hi, Dad," I said carefully."We need to talk about you coming home.""I am home," I said. "I'm in Portland. I'm working. I'm…""You're abandoning your pack," he cut me off. "Abandoning your family. And now they're falling apart because of it."I closed my eyes. Counted to three. Dr. Patricia's voice in my head…. “You can't control his reaction. You can only control your response.”"What's happening?" I asked, keeping my voice level."Challenges," he said. "Other packs circling. We need an alpha who can hold th

"It's been intense."Over the next hour, I realized just how much I had actually missed them….and how much they had missed me. The younger wolves kept asking me questions. The older wolves wanted to catch up on pack business. But the thing that struck me most was that nobody was angry I had been gone. Before, if an alpha missed that many responsibilities, there would be questions about his commitment. There would be challenges. There would be doubt. But now, Josh and the others just seemed genuinely happy t
