Pietra

I was tidying up Addressa’s room when the sound of a phone vibrating on the nightstand echoed for the third time that morning. I didn’t even need to look to know who was calling. Anton. Again.

My hand hesitated for a moment, but I kept folding the blanket, ignoring the phone like I had the last few times. He wasn’t giving up, and that only made things harder for me.

“Who is it?” Andressa asked, watching me with that sharp, curious gaze of hers.

“Unknown number,” I lied, turning to fluff the pillows.

Andressa arched an eyebrow, unconvinced. Before I could stop her, she walked over to the nightstand, picked up the phone, and glanced at the screen.

“It’s Anton!” she exclaimed, surprised. “Why aren’t you answering?”

I sighed, trying to keep my tone casual. “I’ll get to it later.”

“Later?” She crossed her arms and stared at me. “Pietra, you’ve been ignoring him for days, haven’t you?”

I kept adjusting the bed, pretending it didn’t affect me, but I could feel her eyes

  • In the Name of Ambition   In Danger

KimberlyEverything around me seemed to spin. I could hear voices, but they were distant, muffled as if I were underwater. Pain throbbed in my knee, and my head felt like it was about to explode. I couldn’t understand how everything had happened so fast. The car, the impact, and... Axel. Axel was beside me, his deep voice an anchor trying to pull me back to reality. "Kimberly! Can you hear me? Talk to me!" I opened my eyes slowly and saw his face above mine, his black eyes wide with worry. It was surreal. What was he doing here? And why did he seem so desperate?

  • In the Name of Ambition   Tormented

AxelWhen Fred left with Kimberly, I reached a point where I did something I never imagined I’d do: I asked Fred to follow her and make sure he found out where she lived. He hesitated at first, maybe thinking I was crossing a line I shouldn’t, but I convinced him, or perhaps pressured him into doing it. Discovering Kimberly’s address seemed like the only way to put an end to my obsession.Once I had the address, I did something even more absurd: I hired someone to keep an eye on her house. Always discreetly, of course. When the reports, complete with videos and photos, arrived, I felt like a damned stalker—something I despised—but I couldn’t stop. For the first few days, her routine seemed simple. She left in the morning and returned in the late afternoon. Occasionally, another woman, who appe

  • In the Name of Ambition   The Right Path

AaronI drove Rebecca to the art school, even though I knew her apartment was just a few minutes away. I insisted, and in the end, she accepted, smiling at my determination. The truth was, I wanted to enjoy every possible moment by her side. When we parked, Rebecca turned to me, holding her bag on her lap.“You didn’t have to bring me, Aaron.” Her voice was soft, but there was a glimmer of gratitude in her eyes.“I wanted to.” I replied with a smile. “And I want to do it whenever I can.”She hesitated for a moment, then smiled and leaned in to kiss me lightly.“Thank you,” she said before getting out of the car.

  • In the Name of Ambition   New Life

AaronThe sound of something soft, like muffled footsteps or the creak of a door, pulled me from a deep sleep. My eyes opened slowly, scanning the surroundings, and a sense of unfamiliarity hit me. The bedroom was comfortable, spacious, but it wasn’t mine. For a brief moment, I felt a pang of confusion until the memories of the night before flooded back.A soft smile formed on my lips as I sank back into the pillow.Rebecca.I had found her. And, more importantly, she had accepted giving us a chance.I turned to the side, expecting to see her still lying next to me, but the bed was empty. Worry began to form in my chest, and the fear that everything had been nothing more than a figment of my tired mind hit me like a punch.

  • In the Name of Ambition   Possibilities

AntonI felt the weight of every second as I stared at Pietra, waiting for her answer. The tension in the air was almost suffocating, and I could barely breathe. All I wanted was to be there for her, especially now, when our lives were about to change monumentally. But the distance she’d been forcing between us was painful—like every rejection was another wall, and I didn’t know how to break them down anymore. When I finally heard her response, it was like air rushing back into my lungs. "Okay, Anton. You can come with me to the appointment." She paused. "I know I have to think about someone else before even thinking about myself. I have to think about my baby."For a moment, I thought I’d misheard. But when her eyes met mine, her words showed a reluctant sincerity, as if this was an effort for her, too. I let out the breath I’d been holding, relief washing over me so intensely I almost smiled. I took a step forward, an almost involuntary urge to hug her, to thank her for lettin

  • In the Name of Ambition   Suspicions

AaronAs soon as Rebecca suggested we go to her new apartment, a wave of relief washed over me. I needed a place where we could talk without interruptions, without the constant weight of family and their judgments. "Sounds like a great idea!" I replied without hesitation. The ride to her new address was peaceful, but my mind was anything but. As soon as we stepped into the spacious, well-decorated apartment, an odd feeling of unease started creeping in. The place was beautiful, even elegant—something that starkly contrasted with the small, simple apartment where she used to live. While Rebecca moved naturally through the space, I started noticing the details. The soft fabric of the couch, the discreet yet tasteful furniture, the cozy touches that ma

  • In the Name of Ambition   A Chance for Us

RebeccaThe words Aaron said, the intensity in his gaze, his promises… It was hard to believe. Too good to be true. That phrase echoed in my mind, bringing with it a wave of fear and uncertainty.I never wanted to be caught in the middle of a mess like this. The scene with Paolla in the living room was enough to remind me of the weight this family carried, of how powerful and ruthless these people could be. Aaron seemed sincere, but I wondered if he truly understood what he was promising."Aaron..." I began, my voice hesitant, but he looked at me with such intensity that I had to look away. "I don’t know if I can be part of this. This family... the chaos... it all scares me."He leaned forward slightly, his eyes locked onto mine."Reb

  • In the Name of Ambition   The Next Step

AaronLeonel stared at me with an intensity that made it seem like he could see beyond my words. His eyes never wavered, and the tension in the room was palpable. When he finally spoke, his voice was firm as always, but it carried a weight I recognized—disappointment.“Aaron, are you sure about this? Sure about your feelings? And more importantly, are you absolutely certain about your separation from Paolla?”I took a deep breath, feeling the gravity of his question, but my answer came without hesitation.“Yes, Grandpa. I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life. Even if Rebecca doesn’t want me, even if this ends with us apart, there is no chance—none at all—that I will go back to Paolla.”
