Axel

I arrived early at the building where Kimberly worked, parking out front with the engine still running. It had been a long day, but unlike other times, I’d been counting down the minutes to this moment. My chest was drumming with anticipation—ridiculous, almost, like some lovesick kid waiting for his crush after school.

But this was different. Kimberly wasn’t just any woman. She was the mother of my child. And after that morning, after that kiss that knocked the breath out of me, I couldn’t think of anything except being near her again.

So when I saw her step out of the building, my body straightened on instinct. But the smile forming on my lips vanished the next second.

She was tense.

Kimberly walked like she was carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders—hunched, gaze distant. And when she slid into the car, she barely even looked at me.

"Hey," I greeted, trying to catch her eye.

"Hi," she replied, short and clipped, buckling her seatbelt without meeting my gaze.

KimberlyThe kiss was different. It didn’t have the raw urgency of the night before, nor the weight of the tension built up over the past few days. It was firm, deep… but calm. A kiss that said we’re here. Just the two of us. "So… is this it?" I asked against his lips, still a little breathless. Axel gave a crooked smile, like he was trying to hold back his happiness and failing miserably. "This is it. We’ll figure it out."

  • In the Name of Ambition    No labels

AxelKimberly was sleeping beside me, partially covered by the crumpled sheet, her face peaceful, as if the storm from the night before had finally passed. I spent a while just watching her. There was a calm in her now that I hadn’t seen in days. No trace of tension, no furrow between her brows. And as much as I tried to convince myself that this was all crazy, that the two of us were together at the wrong time for the wrong reasons... my heart told me otherwise. I wanted her. Completely. And it wasn’t just desire. It was that uncomfortable, yet somehow liberating, feeling that she had already become a part of me, without asking permission. I moved slowly, and her eyes opened, sleepy but alert. Kimberly shifted slightly, covering her che

  • In the Name of Ambition   Burning Desire

AxelThe kiss deepened, slow and burning, like each second was a new discovery. My fingers slid over the soft fabric of her robe, finding the warmth of her skin beneath it. She arched slightly into my touch, a sigh escaping between our joined lips. My lips trailed along her skin with torturous slowness, exploring every inch like I had all the time in the world—and still, I was too hungry to stop. She moaned softly, and it was like gasoline thrown onto a fire. I wanted her with an uncontrollable need. Still, I tried to go slow, not wanting to scare her. I gently tugged on the belt of her robe, feeling the fabric part like a promise. The sight of her there, lying on the sheets, the soft curve of her belly where our child grew, took my breath away. “You’re perfect,” I murmured, my voice rough with desire—and something deeper, something that ached in my chest. Kimberly didn’t answer with words. But her eyes, they burned with an intensity that seared me from the inside out. “I want y

  • In the Name of Ambition   Home at Last

AaronThe late afternoon sun streamed through the window, casting a warm glow over Rebecca's peaceful face as she slept. I sat by the bed, watching the steady rise and fall of her breathing, every soft flutter of her lashes. After everything we'd been through, it was hard to believe we'd finally found peace.Rebecca and our baby were safe, and for the first time in what felt like forever, I could breathe. The confrontation with Paolla and Eric, the revelation about Antônio's bribes, the decision to sue—I knew that with the Baumann name and resources behind me, they wouldn't escape justice. They'd messed with the wrong people, and now they'd face the consequences. But none of that mattered as much as Rebecca. I'd promised myself I'd never fail her again, and I intended to keep that promise. She stirred slightly, her eyes fluttering open. When they met mine, a soft smile curved her lips."Did I sleep long?" she asked, her voice husky with sleep."Just enough," I murmured, gently taking

  • In the Name of Ambition   An Unexpected Revelation

KimberlyAs soon as I walked through the building’s revolving door, my breath still slightly uneven from my encounter with Axel, I was greeted by the receptionist’s rehearsed smile.“Mr. Whitaker asked that you go straight to his office, Kimberly. He’s expecting you.”Her voice was more cautious than usual. My steps faltered for a fraction of a second. Of course, he was expecting me. And of course, he knew everything that had hit the press in the past few hours. In the elevator, I closed my eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. You didn’t do anything wrong, I reminded myself. Your personal life is none of his business. But when the doors opened on the third floor, the anxiety came rushing back.As I stepped into the executive level, Charles’s secretary, Margaret—a woman in her fifties who had been working for him since I was an intern—looked up as soon as she saw me and made a dramatic gesture in my direction.“Good morning, Margaret,” I greeted her, trying to sound more confide
