The footage I took of Emery and Lucas at the hotel in New York is going to be a little revenge I have prepared for her at the due time. She surprised me out there, she has really worked on her courage. But, I need to clip her wings. How did she find out about Max? I thought I could use the recordings of the conversation between her and her mum, but now that she knows about Max too…I can’t risk it. Emery doesn’t have any evidence, but who knows ? It could raise suspicions.Rumors could spread fast. Now that Emery also knows the truth, the earlier I do something about Max, the better for me.Should I tell my mum the truth? My reputation is at stake. Everyone was clapping for Emery and Austin after their dance, but I stood by the bar , sipping my drink as I thought of a solution to my problem. “Beautiful performance,” Lucas' unusual clap drew my attention, drifting me out of my e
Chapter fifty four Austin’s pov. Brielle pressed her lips together, her eyes poking into that of Emery. She crosssed the line…she knew. The night wind lingered as the only thing that could generate sound, the tension between them strong, and all of a sudden, Brielle laughed. Emery still kept a mean face, but anticipated whatever Brielle wanted to say. I was stunned. “Calm down, Emery. Your mom is safe,” Brielle spoke, her voice still cracking with a chuckle. “What’s amusing you?” Emery face dreaded with the colour red. “You called me out of my reception to threaten me, and you thought I would take that from you.” With this, Brielle kept mute again. Will I say she is surprised by Emery’s current reaction? Maybe, she didn’t expect it. “Do you know what’s best for the both of us?” Emery asked. “What could that be?” Brielle replied. “I would keep your little secret about Max so it would be best if you kept your little mouth shut about mine. And as for Lucas, he’s all yours,” Eme
Chapter fifty three.Emery’s pov. “I know the truth about the real father of your baby,” I remarked. Brielle’s body stiffened in silence, her eyes bulged out as she glared at me. This is the reaction I wanted from her. “Max is his name, right?” I grinned, giving her the confirmation she wanted. I walked closely to her face , “right?” At this point, she was already shivering in shock. She least expected this from me, and I think I hit her pinpoint. “H…how did you find out?” Her lips quivered, her muscles tensed up. I can’t possibly tell her how I overheard her conversation with Max. “I know more than you think,” I poked her chest, my mind reeling with satisfaction. Her face turned red and swollen. “How dare you threaten me?” She suddenly raised her voice. I only did what she was best at doing to people…especially Lucas. “I’m stating facts…not threatening you,” I muttered, trying to calm her down. “You think you’ve won, Emery?” her jaw clenched as she gritted her teeth. “You
Emery’s pov. I ran into my room, about to shut the door , but my mum came in. She asked the nurse to leave us. As the nurse left, and I closed the door. I immediately embraced my mum tightly, sobbing, “Mum, I don’t understand myself anymore or my feelings.” She rubbed soothing circles on my back, shushing me, “I understand the way you feel.” Even though I don’t tell my mum some things, she still understands. And right now, there’s no better person than her to pour out my feelings to. “Mum, I don’t know why my heart still longs for Lucas when I’m married to Austin,” I break from the hug, tears streaming down from my eyes. I hold my mum’s hands, “mum. This…this child I’m carrying, Austin isn’t even the father. I’m scared.” “What do you mean by that?” She scrunched up her face. “Lucas is the father, mum. Lucas is…,” I bent and planted my face on her laps. “Mum I wish I could turn the hands of the clock and make things right. I’m overwhelmed,” she patted my head in a stroking man
Chapter fifty one. Emery’s POV. Oh! I forget to mention that the clothes Austin got for me to change into was specifically a white dress. It’s a short elegant white dress with a deep V-neckline, and straps that appear to tie at the shoulders with tiny bows. The skirt side is short and flared with the hem having ruffled layers. The fabric which looks smooth and slightly thick gave my body the fitting it needed. I would give him an applause for the taste in dress. He wore a black suit, with a Rolex watch to go with his outfit. We got to the marriage bureau in Manhattan, Austin opened the door gracefully for me to come down, offered his hands which I accepted, and we entwined, walking together like the perfect couples. We walked into the building which had a large open waiting hall with rows of seating. There were several other couples who wanted to get married so we went to the service counter to submit a few documents, and waited for our turn. “We should take some pictures. Shal
Emery’s pov. I know this is what I’ve always wanted from the start…a complete family where my child will have to grow up with love from both his mom and Dad, and not to end up the way my mum did, the heartbreak she went through and how she had to undergo parenthood by herself. But now, why do I feel like this isn’t right? Maybe, because it’s not with the man of my dreams or maybe, because my child will have to grow up calling another man his father, and I’ll have to accept that fate forever. My gaze was fixed to his face, which had an optimistic expression and clearly indicated that he wasn’t ready to give up. His lips quivered as he waited for me to accept. However, accepting this proposal seems like the best option for me at the moment. “Okay,” I nodded, my lips shaped slightly into a grin. “Okay?” He asked, holding my meek hands. “Yes,” I answered. “Thank you,” he embraced in the most emotional way possible. I felt his breath at my back as he heaved out a sigh. I was alrea
Lucas’s pov. Brielle walked into my office, her face puffy with fury. “Knock, Brielle. This is my personal space,” I scolded her. “What the hell was she doing in your office?” She placed her hand on her side. “She’s my secretary, I can call her in at any time,” I reprimanded, my face grumpy.
CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN. Emery’s pov. I couldn’t wait anymore, not after what happened the last time they quarreled, and now that I’m not there , what if they….I rushed back, moving straight to Lucas’s office . Opening the door, I met Austin about to punch Lucas. “Austin stop!” I panted, my breat
CHAPTER THIRTY SIX . Emery’s pov. “I brought you lunch,” Austin grinned as he placed the snack bag on my desk. He was looking cute as always in his black corporate suit.Anytime he does this , it turns me on because he shows up at the right time. If he continues with this, I might fall in love
Emery’s pov. The shock of the unexpected menacing interruption from Brielle disoriented me for a few minutes. My breath caught, my pulse raced. I didn’t know what to say at that moment because she asked me , she told me she would rather hear it from me. I felt like the most awful person ever. I
