Chapter 2: I'll Sue Him to the Bitter End for You!

The little one's lips quivered, tears welling up in his eyes as he cried in a childish voice, "Chè Chè likes Lin Daddy, but Daddy is so mean, he even hit Mommy. I don't like him."

Hearing this, Luoyue Rui bit her lip, her eyes rimming with red, and turned away without a word.

Edmund Montgomery fell silent for a moment, his gaze inscrutable, before reaching out to pat the child's head.

After crying his heart out, Vanessa Galsworthy walked to the bathroom. Looking into the mirror, she saw her face, pale as a ghost. She turned on the tap and splashed water on her face.

Then, she returned to the bedside, picked up her phone, and called her best friend, Hannah Pope.

"Hannah Pope, help me draft a divorce agreement, please."

Hannah Pope was her college roommate, and they were very close. She now worked at a law firm.

Vanessa Galsworthy lowered her head and smiled slightly, listening to Hannah Pope's tirade. She calmly read through the divorce agreement and signed it with a pen.

Picking up the ring from the table, Vanessa Galsworthy silently looked at it for a few seconds before placing it in a bag.

Then, she handed it to Hannah Pope, "Help me send this to the Montgomery family."

Hannah Pope glared at her, "Are you really not going to reconsider? I'm a lawyer! Edmund Montgomery cheated on you during the marriage, I can sue him to death!"

Vanessa Galsworthy smiled and shook her head, "If it weren't for my blood type, I wouldn't have been able to marry Edmund Montgomery. One must know their place."

Some things, no matter how much you fight for them, you can't have.

She then handed the divorce agreement to Hannah Pope.

Hannah Pope, clutching the brown envelope, sighed, "You'll regret being too kind to that man for the rest of your life!"

"They don't know," Vanessa Galsworthy lowered her eyes, "After the divorce, we'll be two separate families. No need to trouble them."

After handling the discharge procedures, Hannah Pope drove Vanessa Galsworthy back to the Nan residence.

Back at the Nan house, Daphne Galsworthy was sitting on the sofa watching TV. When she suddenly saw her daughter return, looking pale, she immediately rushed over, "What happened? Are you sick?"

Vanessa Galsworthy had just had a miscarriage and couldn't move too much. After slowly changing into slippers, she said, "I'm preparing to divorce Edmund Montgomery and will be living here from now on."

Daphne Galsworthy was shocked. She had agreed to her daughter marrying into the Montgomery family because of the sincerity of the old master, who had promised to make sure Edmund Montgomery would treat her daughter well, or else he wouldn't recognize him as his grandson.

And now, after just three years, they were getting a divorce?

"Tell me, what happened? Did your husband mistreat you?"

Vanessa Galsworthy gave a bitter smile, "The woman he loves has come back."

Daphne Galsworthy's face showed surprise, followed by pain in her eyes as she hugged her daughter sympathetically. Her own life had been ruined by a mistress, and she had suffered greatly.

She never imagined that her daughter would face the same situation after marriage.

"If you feel wronged, come back home. Your room is always ready for you. That little tramp tried to bring her child and take your room, but I chased her out. How dare they try to take my daughter's things!" Daphne Galsworthy huffed, showing her protective side.

Seeing this, Vanessa Galsworthy couldn't help but smile.

Daphne Galsworthy stroked Vanessa Galsworthy's head gently, "Go to your room and get some rest. You look terrible. I'll go buy some groceries and cook something nice for you."

Vanessa Galsworthy didn't argue. She had just undergone surgery, and under her clothes, she still had burn marks. She really couldn't handle it anymore.

Nodding, Vanessa Galsworthy went to her old bedroom.

She was so exhausted that she fell into a deep sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

That night, she had a dream.

In an empty field, she shouted Edmund Montgomery's name. He appeared and disappeared intermittently.

In a daze, she found herself pinned to the soft grass, his hands trailing down her body, inch by inch, burning every part of her skin. The sensation made her almost cry out in pleasure.

But just as she was about to give in to her desires, he grabbed her neck, and a cold, distant voice whispered in her ear, "Without me, you will be doomed forever..."

She woke up abruptly, finding her face wet with tears. Edmund Montgomery, even in dreams, you never show me any tenderness.

She quickly picked up the phone and dialed Edmund Montgomery's number, wanting to ask if he had received the divorce agreement.

Surprisingly, he answered quickly, "Where are you? I'll come pick you up right now."

Vanessa Galsworthy smirked self-deprecatingly, got out of bed, put on her most seductive and vibrant dress, and did a full makeup.

As she opened the car door, she could clearly see Edmund Montgomery's surprise.

He drove fast.

Vanessa Galsworthy frowned, "Aren't we going to get a divorce?"

"Divorce?"

Edmund Montgomery slammed on the brakes and stopped the car by the roadside, his cold eyes fixed on her, "What are you up to now?"

Confused by his reaction, Vanessa Galsworthy calmly replied, "I'm not up to anything. I sent the divorce agreement to you yesterday. Have you read it?"

Edmund Montgomery had indeed received the package but hadn't known what was inside. He assumed it was something Vanessa Galsworthy had ordered online and left it by the entrance.

She took another copy of the agreement from her bag and handed it to Edmund Montgomery, "Read it now. If there's no problem, sign it."
