Damion's Secret

3rd Point of View.

Jacob was bothered because of the Moon Goddess' response regarding his prayer. All he wanted is to protect his daughter. Is it too much to ask for? After all, it wasn't Faye, Jacob, or Lucy's fault that Faye is bound to have an excruciating painful life. It was the Moon Goddess' fault for partnering Faye with a man who wanted to kill her— whose mission is to end her life. Jacob was preoccupied as he walked back to Lowell's Villa.

After Chandra says her last line, she immediately disappears from Jacob's naked eye. Even if he wanted to change his decision or ask so many questions, Moon Goddess already forbids him by disappearing without a clue of when she'll re-appear.

Lucy welcomed Jacob, worried sick.

"Why are you home so late?" she asked while wiping Jacob's sweats.

Jacob couldn't answer as soon as he was questioned. The question has also been forgotten when Lowell appeared, together with Fatima.

Lowell looked so troubled. He couldn't even open his mouth to deliver the news— finding a better word so it wouldn't sound overreacted or too lame. Uncle Lowell kept on moving his head and scratching it.

"Point it out, what's wrong, Lowell?" asked Lucy, whose now bothered and troubled by Lowell's gestures.

Lowell sighed. Although it was against his will to say so soon, he has to fight it. Lowell showed some video clips of Damion and Faye together.

"They were so compatible that I find them hard to separate. I wanted to put Damion in a separate room to conduct multiple tests. But as soon as he was separated, Faye's vital dropped. Not every werewolf physician knows about this, but the prophecy about life mates can be voided if and only if the mated werewolves are not compatible. How they affect each other and mirrored the pain they feel can change at least the intensity. But right now, I couldn't. This is the first time I've seen two werewolves accept each other too much to the point they're so hard to separate and treated," Lowell continuously responded anxiously. He finds it hard to say what was going on with Damion and Faye at first directly without sugarcoated words because he knows that an Alpha's anger shall not be tested. Jacob is dangerous when someone enraged him and Lowell gave his best to avoid it.

Fatima supported Lucy's back. She predicted Lucy's knees will be jellied as well as Jacob's.

"What can we do to lessen the pain?" asked Jacob.

Fatima sighed. She's the one who answered this time instead of Lowell, "Let them be together, don't separate them. But little by little, introduce something different to Faye and Damion. Introduce different kinds of hobbies so that at least one percent, they could afford to live their individual lives. No matter how slow the progress, as long as there is, it's better than nothing."

It annoys Lucy and Jacob to know this is happening to Faye. It's horrifying that Lucy started to think that Faye shouldn't be born at all. The first day she gave birth, is it just right to let Faye go to the two packs who wanted the Moonstone so bad? Lucy thought.

The fact that Damion's behavior is something they should feel bothered about, but there was still no evidence that can prove it was harmful to Faye, makes them think if it was really the right thing to do to not be bothered.

"What's the progress regarding your investigation of Damion's background, Fatima?" Lucy asked, shifting the topic to a different one.

"What do you mean background? You investigated Damion?"

Faye's Point of View.

Isn't it odd? Dad was too preoccupied a while ago that he didn't even notice Damion kissing me inside a cage, IN FRONT OF HIM. I was so glad that we were both put to sleep as soon as we went home, or I will think of that kiss endlessly. It will just remain in my mind even before I sleep, in my sleep, and after my sleep.

As soon as I woke up, that thought lingered in my mind again. If only I could arrest trespassing thoughts, every jail in the world wouldn't be enough to imprison the criminals. I shook my head and searched for Uncle Lowell, Auntie Fatima, Mom, and Dad, but they weren't there so I had to go out.

"What do you mean background? You investigated Damion?" asked dad.

"They investigated Damion?" I whispered. Are we really a family? Since Damion came into our lives, I've been feeling like there's a lot I've missed. There are so many secrets that I should know but they chose to hide from me. There are things supposed to know by me as well, why keep it a secret?

"It looks like they don't trust me enough to deserve the investigation."

I almost jumped in fear. That Damion!!! I hit his head quietly, making sure no one had heard me. He's so good at surprising me.

Damion didn't react when I hit him. He remained blunt while listening to their conversation.

"You have to find something! It's impossible he's untraceable," mom says.

"It is possible, Lucy," Aunt Fatima replied.

I wanted to listen more, but Damion sneaked back inside the room where we were put to rest. I followed him.

"I'll take it from here," says Damion.

I gave him a WHAT look, brows furrowed, and a shook head. But he didn't answer and continued to go away. He didn't even look back to check on me. I continued following him. What happens next is a mystery to me. The next thing I knew, I was put back into my bed, without the presence of Damion.

Damion's Point of View.

"Thank you," I whispered.

Mia, the Omega of the Sombermane Band Pack, summoned me to meet the Alpha King. I can't just go without making sure Faye is away from danger, or I will be too. I have to make someone conduct a spell of a temporary hindrance to block the connection Faye and I had, and all I think of who could do it is Mia. It could only last for only forty-eight hours, but it was enough to keep my action hidden from their radar.

Mia put Faye to sleep, back to her bed, while I continue to go back to the Balkans where Sombermane Band Pack's castle resides.

"I waited for you to come for days. Why just now?" I broke the ice, bluntly speaking. I tried to hide the annoyance in my voice and a little grouch towards her, it'll lose my cool. I don't want her to notice.

Mia is not responding. She's just nonchalantly walking with me. I thought, maybe she can't answer too soon. So I waited for five minutes, but she just left me with no answer at all. I stopped and blocked her way.

Mia wears a ripped purple dress with only a height above the knee. She has a lot of bruises now, that we, werewolves, thought of as a trophy.

"What is wrong with you?" I asked. She wasn't looking at me, so I held her chin to shift the direction of her eyes to me. "Are you mad?"

Mia threw my hands, still not showing what she feels. Now, it makes me wonder, what happened to her? Mia didn't answer and just continued to walk passed me. She's now walking ahead of me, and I stopped her by holding her hand and imprisoning her in the protection of my arms. I whispered, "You're mad, aren't you?"

I'm so glad that she throws away my effort to reach her.

"Just... kind of..."

"Is it because of Faye?" I asked. By the presence of her heavy sigh, I can tell without even the confirmation that it's all about her.

"I just... I don't know why it's not me! We've been together for years! Why the hell are you mated to someone else? Did I do something to deserve this?"
