Chapter 3

Double lies

"Amethyst, have you found something?" Amara's mother asked immediately when Amethyst arrived at their place. The media are outside, asking for their words regarding what happened to Amara Gabriel.

"I found nothing," she uttered in distress.

They all have been frustrated. It's been two days since Amara vanished and the incident happened. In just a blink of an eye, Amara Gabriel went missing and none of them knows if she's dead or alive.

"I've been searching. My men have no sleep," Agatha mentioned with her eyes closed filled with frustration.

"Our enemies will take this as an advantage to attack us," her father said while staring into nothing.

"I need an update!" All of their eyes were captured when they heard Rio yelling at his men outside. The piece of crumpled newspaper dropped on the floor. Rio Blaze was devastated, losing it all. He has been looking for Amara and he couldn't even have a nap.

"If you have to swim the ocean, do it! If you have to check every place in this world, do it!" He began to chase his breathing and walked out of frustration.

"Listen, I don't want to see you here if you're just going to tell me nothing about my fiancé." He added coldly with a glimpse of exhaustion from his eyes.

"Calm down, Rio."

His eyes now shifted to her who just arrived after what happened yesterday.

"You should not stress yourself," she added and glanced at his men. "You can all rest for a bit. Let's continue the search tomorrow," she added.

"Cassandra," Amara's mother called and quickly embraced her.

"You're finally here," Amethyst said, wearing her blank face.

"I'm sorry. I didn't hear the news because I had a photoshoot the whole day yesterday. I just found out this morning," she explained, wearing her anxious eyes.

Cassandra Alvarez, Amara's best friend.

"I'm afraid we have to face the media. They won't leave until they get our statement," Agatha mentioned when they could hear the noise of them outside.

"Let's do it," Rio replied coldly.

"He's devastated," Amethyst commented and shook her head, watching Rio walk outside and face the media.

"Sir Gavin," Misty called Gavin who was sitting in the living room.

"Yes?" He asked. Misty didn't speak and simply turned on the television.

"The offer will still remain as long as we find Amara. We are also investigating and we will not stop looking for her until we find her," Rio uttered with firmness from his voice on the television.

"We didn't see it coming. My best friend is a good person," the woman began to cry in front of the camera, shattered.

"Do you think it was really a plane crash?"

One of the interviewers asked, which made them all stop.

"Well," the red-haired woman said. "We will find out…because if it was planned, whoever is behind this must shiver right now." She said firmly, wearing those sharp eyes.

"Until her body is not found, we will not consider her as dead." Agatha added, wearing her blank face.

Gavin smirked while watching the interview. Now, it got him thinking deep about these people in her life. Who are they? Was it really planned or just an accident? His finger lingered around her lips as he was wearing that sly smirk.

Agatha Gabriel, Amethyst Gabriel, Cassandra Alvarez and Rio Blaze. His brows raised for a moment.

Who among them is betraying Amara Gabriel?

"She's a big person. Are you sure that we should not send her back?" Misty asked with anxiousness from her voice.

"No. For now, make sure that she eats and gets back to her healthy body." He commanded before he turned his back to her and went upstairs.

His feet suddenly stopped in front of the room where Amara was. The door was opened a bit so that he could see her from inside. There was she, sitting near on the balcony with the wind blowing her hair gently. The sun's brightness was shining upon her that made her fair skin light even more. She was staring into nothing, blinking repeatedly.

"Sir,"

Gavin quickly moved out from the door when Misty suddenly appeared.

"Yes?" His brows raised along with a deep sigh that she made.

"She will eat in the dining hall. I think it will be better if she will also have some interaction," she explained, wearing that playful smile at him.

"Stop wearing that smile to me, Misty." He uttered and glared at her before he left her again there.

"Hi," Misty greeted with a soft smile. "Do you want to eat with me? They cooked food," she mentioned.

"S-Sure," she stuttered but also stood up. Misty then helped her until they went downstairs to eat.

"Who owns this huge house?" She asked. Even her voice was lovely and angelic, suits her face.

"Oh, sir Gavin Clyborne owns this. He actually bought the entire island," she said as they sat in the living room.

"You should eat so you can regain your strength," Misty mentioned.

"I feel lost," she mentioned while staring at the food. "I don't know anything. I don't remember who I am and everything about me. I don't even know any of you," she said with worries.

"You have amnesia, that's normal." Misty said with a weak smile, couldn't help but to pity her.

"Do you know me? Do you know what happened to me?" She asked. This woman has a lot of questions as she has no single idea about who she is.

Her memories were erased by that plane crash.

"Uhm," Misty was lost for words. She knows her, her identity. But she doesn't know who she really is. All she knows is that Amara Gabriel is a huge person.

"Y-You're…u-uhm…what should I do?" She mumbled to herself when she didn't know what to tell her.

"Sir!" Misty exclaimed in relief as if she was saved from being agitated when Gavin showed up in the dining room.

Her eyes shifted to him, staring at him like an innocent child who doesn't know anything in this world. She's indeed in trouble.

Gavin sat in front of her, eyeing her directly.

"Do you know me?" She asked again.

He knew that he must not do anything and stay out of this mess. But then…

"Of course," he uttered.

"Really? Who am I? Can you tell me?" She asked with eagerness.

"Your name is Luna Franco," he uttered.

"Yeah, that's ri—what?" Misty's eyes widened but Gavin didn't care and remained exchanging gaze with Amara Gabriel who lost her memories.

"But we're married, so you're Luna Clyborne."

Her lips parted in surprise.

"M-Married?"

Gavin nodded. "Yes, Luna. We're married. I'm your husband and you're my wife."

That moment Gavin didn't know why he did that. The only thing he knows is that he needs to protect her from them…from the people who were behind the plane crash.

That day, Gavin Clyborne involved herself in the fire in Amara's life.
