I wanted to personally oversee the stakeout in front of Isidore's house. Something about this whole story didn't make sense. I believed everything Vivian had told us, including that she didn't know anything else, but something was bothering me. It was what we call cop's intuition - after so many years on the force, it was both a curse and a blessing. It could be everything or it could be nothing, but the fact remained that something was nagging at me, and I wanted to see the situation firsthand.

While waiting for things to unfold, I kept thinking about Vivian. That girl was completely crazy. Even after I told her she shouldn't go through with that absurd plan, even after I warned her to make up some excuse and get out of this mess, she said she didn't care.
