Unlike usual, today, Eddy was anxious. He doesn’t know if there is any such thing called Karma, but he knows one thing for sure, he has to apologize to Evy soon, or else he will lose her. Maybe he had already lost her?
NO, Eddy will get their friendship back on track. He just needed to tell her sorry. That’s it—five-letter words.
After an hour or so, he drove to school. It took him around fifteen minutes to reach. He wanted to solve their misunderstandings. So, he thought about waiting in the parking lot. You might peg him as a desperate guy. But no, he is not desperate. He wants Evelyn back in his life. During this one year, he missed her a lot.
His train of thoughts was intervened by the view in front of him. Evelyn, Owen, and Hailey were cycling to school. And he would be lying if he said it didn’t matter to him.
You might be wondering why the hell he is creating fudge about them riding a bicycle.
His answer to your question is that two to three years back, all three of them used to come to school cycling. It was their thing. But when he got popular, they stopped.
Seeing them now brings back those blissful memories. Those memories are stored in his heart. It doesn’t take a genius to see that those three were enjoying themselves. They parked their cycles and entered the school building. Eddy did see them looking towards him for a few seconds. He saw hurt in Hailey’s eyes, and Owen was giving him a sad look, but Eve looked at him like any other classmate.
Like they hardly knew each other.
He was trying to find a way to talk to Evy the whole day, but it seemed like she was busy. For a full day, she was hanging out with Owen and Hails. Guess what makes the matter worse? Those three are in all his classes.
Finally, the school ended, and he was waiting for Evy to show up. After five minutes, she came.
“Uh, hey Evy,” Eddy spoke nervously.
“Hi,” she said with a poker face.
“How have you been?” He was scratching his neck.
“What do you want, Edward?” She directly came to the point.
“You can call me Eddy.”
He didn’t like Evy saying his full name. People call him Edward when he is in trouble. Usually, he goes by Eddy or Ed.
She was about to leave when he suddenly blurted, “I am sorry.”
She turned back.
“Evy, I am really sorry. I know I have been a jerk to you, and I feel guilty about it.”
“It is okay.” She cut me off.
“What?” Her answer stunned him.
“I said it was okay.” He was halfway from hugging her, but she took a step back.
“Whoa! Watch out, buddy. You asked for forgiveness, and I accepted it—no need to go buddy-buddy with me. Like every day, you go on your way, and I will go on my way. We won’t want you to ruin your so-called reputation by seeing with me now, do we?” With that, she left.
Though she accepted his apology, it still seemed she had not yet forgiven him.
Evelyn had a good time today. She was feeling like herself again. They rode bicycles today. It was like an old-time when Eddy and Hails used to cycle to school, but when Eddy became popular, he stopped their little tradition. When they reached the school, she saw him looking at them. She knows that it hurt him to see Owen taking his place. But he had it coming. He has always taken her and Hailey for granted.
Today, Evy noticed something different about Owen. He was chirpy and cheerful in a different way. Hails and Owen were getting along well. Well, something is growing in their relationship.
At the end of school, abruptly, out of nowhere, Eddy asked for an apology.
Sorry, five-letter word. Sorry is said when you have hurt someone. But nowadays, the real meaning of sorry is lost. People use this word every day and for every goddamn thing. They don’t even mean it despite that. They go ahead and use the word ‘sorry.’
But when Eddy used it, she was disappointed and hurt. She didn’t even know if he actually meant it. It had been a daily routine for him to make mistakes and apologize to her. So, if he doesn’t mean it, then why should she go ahead and accept his apology wholeheartedly. Old Evelyn Brook might have accepted it and hugged him, but not the new one. She had learned it the hard way. If he wants their friendship back, he needs to earn it. He is not going to get everything on the platter. He is getting the same treatment that he has given her for the past few years, and he deserves every bit of it.
Today, their first lecture is going to be Psychology. Evy was pretty excited because, in every lecture, Mrs. Natalia makes them do something different and new. Though there is a possibility that some activities might be a repetition for her, that’s fine. “Well, hello class.” Mrs. Natalia greeted everyone. “As you know, today is our first workshop session. Before starting with anything, I would want to tell you that this workshop is different. Here we are going to do many activities. To make this workshop work, I will need your participation, and I’ll guarantee you that each one of you is going to enjoy this.” “Of course, if you are teaching, then definitely, we are going to enjoy.” Victor grinned, to which Mrs. Natalia just rolled her eyes. “So, I have every girl’s name written on this sheet. Each boy will come and pick up that piece of paper. The name written on the paper will be your partner for every activity in this workshop.” Mrs. Natalia explained. “But miss, last year you ga
“Yes,” “No,” “Yes,” “No,” “Yes, yes,” “No, no,” “No, no, no,” “Yes, yes, yes,” “Oh yeah, I won.” Evy fist pumps in the air. Now you might think, what exactly is this argument about? The thing is, Owen has got a huge crush on Hailey and is scared to ask her out. “This is not fair, Evy.” Owen folded his arms and pouted. “Everything is fair in love and war.” She sang. He was frowning now. “Come on, Owen. Man up and ask her out.” “Easier said than done.” He was glaring at her. “It’s not that difficult.” She told him, completely frustrated by him. “It is difficult. What if she rejects me?” He asked her. “Owen, there are many what-ifs in life. What if she agrees to go on a date with you?” Evy tried to reason with him. To which Owen sighs. “Owen, she won’t reject you. Trust me! You are only asking her for a friendly date. In fact, it wouldn’t be even considered as a date as you two are just going for a cup of coffee and not a romantic get-together.” Yes, you heard her righ
One entire week has passed. After the bench incident, Evy ignored Eddy completely. He had caught her a few times looking at him, but before his eyes met hers directly, she used to either turn her face or start rolling her eyes. She didn’t speak a single word to him. Last week all the lectures of Mrs. Natalia were cancelled as she had the flu. So, in that period, she either used to hang out with Hailey and Owen or keep up with her studies in the library. The library and Evy cannot be apart forever. She loves reading books. She is not your typical nerd who likes to keep her nose in the books. She just wants to get good grades and become something in life. She is your normal teenage girl, but the difference is that she is more focused than others. Evy’s silence was killing Eddy. He still remembers her words, ‘I’ll never be able to forgive you.’ That means she wants to, but she can’t. Why can’t she forgive him like before? He has to talk to her to make things clear between them. It’s
Evy was lying on her bed, and music was blasting in her ears when her mom entered her room. “Hey, sweetie,” she said with love. “Hey, mom” Evy sat up and removed the earplugs from her ears. “Well, I wanted to inform you that, Stephaney has invited us for dinner, so we have to go to theirs.” “Stephaney, as in Edward’s mother?” She asked her, dumbfounded. “Yes, Eddy’s mother. So be ready by seven, okay?” She confirmed. “Uh, oh yeah, okay.” Unbelievable. Now she is stuck with that moron. Weird, right after her mom calls Eddy with his pet name, but she prefers to use his full name now after what happened a year ago. Anyway, she cannot bail on this dinner as it will be rude to do it. So, let’s just get over with it. It was almost seven, and Evy was ready for the unfortunate dinner. She wore a black one-piece, which was simple and yet classy. It has a silver lining on the round neck of her dress. She also wore silver slippers below it, as she was not in the mood to wear heels. She w
Today, they had their first meeting with the culture team. Last week, Evy and her small team made a poster with necessary information where people can give their names to be part of this culture team, but of course, they are going to be first interviewed. All three of them, Evy, Hailey, and Owen, were pretty busy the whole day. And after long hours of work and selecting people, they finally decided to have a meeting. “Hello guys, as a culture team, it’s our first meeting, and today we are going to discuss a few important matters about—” She was interrupted by none other than Mr. A-class jerk, his best friend, and mad Madeline. “You three are ten minutes late.” She glared at them. “We were busy,” Madeline replied with a snotty attitude. “In what?” Evy retaliated back. “How about I say none of your business?” “How about I make it my business and throw you out of this team?” She raised her eyebrow. “You wouldn’t dare to,” she said with a glare. “Try me,” Evy said in a menacing to
Evy was about to leave the school premises and on her way to the parking lot when she suddenly felt someone grabbing her hand and pulling her into one of the classes. She let out a loud shriek, but no one was there to hear it. Unfortunately, she had some important matters to handle regarding a cultural group, so she stayed a bit late, and all the students had mostly left. There are only staff members in their office, which is quite far away from this passage. After a few more shots, Evy realized that it was Ed who brought her here. “What the hell, Ed?” She shouted at him. “I can’t believe you.” He was glaring at her. “You can’t believe me, bullshit!!” “My saying is bullshit, then about you. I can’t believe that you can forgive your best friends’ best friend, but not your own best friend.” He was looking furious. “Correction Mr. Edward Loraine, ex-best friend, and regarding me giving Carson then, unlike you, he was sincere about it,” she informed him in a nice way she could. He
Eddy knows that he messed up big time, but he also knows that he can win back his old friends. Hailey and Evy had been with him through thick and thin. He not only has to clear the air between him and Evy but also with Hailey. She also deserved his apology. He was glad that Hailey had been with her when she needed her the most. Hoping Hailey would forgive him, Eddy went to school in search of her. He needed to be careful and talk to her when Evy and Owen were not around. It wasn’t easy to catch her. Either Owen or Evy always surrounded her. He had seen her a few times with Owen, and it seemed that they both liked each other. Finally, after school, he saw her on the football ground, probably waiting for Owen. He was busy with the coach, so Eddy took the opportunity and went towards Hailey. “Hey, Hails.” He nervously greeted her. “Oh, hey Edward,” she replied, and an expression of shock and confusion was clearly written all over her face. “So, how are you?” He asked her. “It’s been
Eddy was sitting on the bed with his laptop and was going through the F******k profiles of Evy. He is not a stalker or anything, but he likes to see what’s going on in his best friend’s life. It’s been a week since he talked with Hailey. He thought about how he could have them forgive him, but he didn’t get any single idea. Evy looks so happy in the pictures that she posted on her profile. He really wishes he could undo all this stuff that he did to them, but he couldn’t. He gave a sad sigh and heard someone knocking on his door. “Come in,” he shouted. “Oh hey, Owen,” Eddy said surprisingly. “Hey, so what sup? I hope I am not disturbing you?” He asks. “Nope, so what brings you here?” “Hailey told me about the chat that you two had,” he told Eddy, but he could see that he was a bit hesitant to talk about it. “I am sure she had told you last week, so why are you bringing it up now?” “Yes, she did, and I thought about it the whole week, and I really think you all should sort it
