1 Start

It has been a year since Evy has visited her hometown. She would be lying if she said that she did not miss it. Her parents live here, and she had spent her entire childhood in this very place. So yes, she definitely missed it. She has lots of lovely yet painful memories here. One thing that Evy didn’t miss was her school; ‘THE WOODSTOCK HIGH SCHOOL.’ It is a private school. If you are in the ‘IT’ crowd, you will be in love with this place, but if not, you will dread every minute of it. Especially when you are associated with any of the popular kids, but ‘you are not fit to talk to them.’ However, if you are lucky and do not have any contact with the jocks and Barbie’s here, you can live your life peacefully. Well, you might guess who exactly Evy is? Evy is short for Evelyn Brook. She is your regular seventeen-year-old teen. She is the only daughter of her parents and, like every other daughter, she is a daddy’s girl and shares a special bond with her mom. They are not extravagant

2 – Is Karma a Real Thing?

Evy took a deep breath and entered the gate of the school. Yes! She was nervous. But unlike usual, it had nothing to do with fear. She can’t think of a correct word to describe her feelings. All in all, she can say that she was excited. Evy was curious to see the reactions of all those people who had made her life miserable in this school. And most importantly, she was anxious to see her best friend. The one who was a rock for her. She was always there when she needed a shoulder to cry on. The one to whom she could say anything and everything. The one who didn’t care about her reputation. The one and only Evy’s true best friend, Hailey. Evy has not been talking much with her in the past year. They did chat once in a while, but nothing major. Her best friend has no clue that she has enrolled her name in this school once again. As she was entering the gate, Evy got curious glances from the students here. The boys were shamelessly checking her out, and the girls were glaring at her. H

3–Having Doubts

“Hey honey, you back?” Evy’s mom asked aloud when she closed the door. “Yes, mom,” she answered her back and moved her feet towards the kitchen. “How was your school?” “Usual,” she said to her innocently. But as it is said, nothing can be hidden from a mother, so her mom instantly knew that her school went better than usual. “Of course, honey, your gleaming eyes say that school was fantastic.” To which she stuck her tongue out. “Uh, mom, I have invited Hailey and Owen to hang out. You don’t mind, do you?” “Of course not,” “Love you, mom,” she took an apple and ran to her room. Evy’s room is the favorite part of her home. It is not that huge, nor is it tiny. It is covered with beautiful lavender colored wallpaper, which has a white floral print design. In the middle of her room is her comfy bed. Unlike usual, today, Eddy was anxious. He doesn’t know if there is any such thing called Karma, but he knows one thing for sure, he has to apologize to Evy soon, or else he will lose her. Maybe he had already lost her? NO, Eddy will get their friendship back on track. He just needed to tell her sorry. That’s it—five-letter words. After an hour or so, he drove to school. It took him around fifteen minutes to reach. He wanted to solve their misunderstandings. So, he thought about waiting in the parking lot. You might peg him as a desperate guy. But no, he is not desperate. He wants Evelyn back in his life. During this one year, he missed her a lot. His train of thoughts was intervened by the view in front of him. Today, their first lecture is going to be Psychology. Evy was pretty excited because, in every lecture, Mrs. Natalia makes them do something different and new. Though there is a possibility that some activities might be a repetition for her, that’s fine. “Well, hello class.” Mrs. Natalia greeted everyone. “As you know, today is our first workshop session. Before starting with anything, I would want to tell you that this workshop is different. Here we are going to do many activities. To make this workshop work, I will need your participation, and I’ll guarantee you that each one of you is going to enjoy this.” “Of course, if you are teaching, then definitely, we are going to enjoy.” Victor grinned, to which Mrs. Natalia just rolled her eyes. “So, I have every girl’s name written on this sheet. One entire week has passed. After the bench incident, Evy ignored Eddy completely. He had caught her a few times looking at him, but before his eyes met hers directly, she used to either turn her face or start rolling her eyes. She didn’t speak a single word to him. Last week all the lectures of Mrs. Natalia were cancelled as she had the flu. So, in that period, she either used to hang out with Hailey and Owen or keep up with her studies in the library. The library and Evy cannot be apart forever. She loves reading books. She is not your typical nerd who likes to keep her nose in the books. Evy was lying on her bed, and music was blasting in her ears when her mom entered her room. “Hey, sweetie,” she said with love. “Hey, mom” Evy sat up and removed the earplugs from her ears. “Well, I wanted to inform you that, Stephaney has invited us for dinner, so we have to go to theirs.” “Stephaney, as in Edward’s mother?” She asked her, dumbfounded. “Yes, Eddy’s mother. Weird, right after her mom calls Eddy with his pet name, but she prefers to use his full name now after what happened a year ago. Anyway, she cannot bail on this dinner as it will be rude to do it. Today, they had their first meeting with the culture team. Last week, Evy and her small team made a poster with necessary information where people can give their names to be part of this culture team, but of course, they are going to be first interviewed. All three of them, Evy, Hailey, and Owen, were pretty busy the whole day. Evy was about to leave the school premises and on her way to the parking lot when she suddenly felt someone grabbing her hand and pulling her into one of the classes. She let out a loud shriek, but no one was there to hear it. Unfortunately, she had some important matters to handle regarding a cultural group, so she stayed a bit late, and all the students had mostly left. There are only staff members in their office, which is quite far away from this passage.
