The next day, when Mark went to work, I asked him to drop me off in the city center.

As long as I didn’t bother him, he would agree to my request readily..

I looked at the job listings in front of a flower shop, wondering if the owner would hire someone like me without a college degree..

I was in the middle of my college years when Mark arranged for me to go to a rehabilitation center.

"Do you want to apply?" Maybe the boss noticed that I had been staring at the job listings but hadn't entered, so he couldn't help but ask.

The boss appeared to be in his mid-twenties.

He seemed quite approachable.
