CHAPTER 64

Verania's Point of View

As soon as I entered the door of our home, I was greeted by Mama. She was sitting on the sofa, wearing glasses, and her eyes were fixed on the book she held.

However, when she sensed my presence, she voluntarily closed her book and slowly shifted her gaze toward me, while removing her glasses.

A restrained smile appeared on my lips, then I looked away. I was about to head straight to my room, but Mama quickly tracked me with her steps and stopped me from proceeding.

"What happened to your eyes? They're so swollen. Don't you dare tell me it's just something in your eye, even your eyebags are puffy," Mama said directly.

It's really hard having a mom who's an attorney; you can never lie to her.

My mom knows when I am lying, she doesn't say I'm lying but she becomes very inquisitive whenever she feels I am. So, in the end, I still end up telling the truth.

"Before you answer, let's sit on the sofa," she said calmly and walked back to where she was sitting earlier.
