Chapter 2

She lifted the piece of envelope and unrapped it.

"You have been requested by the NYC customary court of law for the case of the rightful heir to the Williams family business. Since there was no male heir, and since Miss Angelina Williams has also failed to bore a male heir, neither has she been married, there would be a court case of handling the Williams company to a capable male relative. You have the right to a lawyer. Since the couple had no WILL due to their untimely and unexpected exit, the court will have to emerge a new CEO for the Williams company. Please you are also expected to be present on the 25th of January, 2022 being a week today at the court as requested by this writ of summon.

Signed by the magistrate of the NYC customary court."

"Just when you think they couldn't get any cornier and greedy." She murmured to herself smacking her mouth. then she chucked, dropping the papers carelessly on the floor and hitting her hands on her bed with frustration. she stroke her hair and took a deep breath.

"how pathetic and disappointing." She said with a confident smirk on her face.

she then headed straight to the showers. In about 15mins time she was out. She quickly dried up and headed to her waldrop. Tossed around a few clothes before picking out a short red desighner gown that hugged her body and was just a few inches below her thighs. The gown had reddish black lace on the knee pattern, with one armless shoulder.

"Miss Angel... Miss Angel... Miss Angel are you alright?" James asked, distracting Angel from her thoughts.

"Wh...what? Ofcourse James, everything is perfect." She replied. But she didn't sound so convincing to James. Rather, it was as if he heard the direct opposite of her words.

"You've barely said a word since we left the house, neither are you taken any of your calls. You know if there's anything bordering you can relate with me." James assured her.

"Why don't you just pay attention to the road." She commanded James. And with her tone, one could think he was the cause of her bad mood.

"Okki...dokki. ouch. Men that hurt my heart bad." He said jokingly, touching his heart as if there were wounds on it. Again, she was moved by his sweet ascent. It sounded rather charming and romantic.

She looked through the drivers mirror to see his expression, to make sure whether he was really offended by her words, but didn't want him to notice. Instead, she met his gaze and was lost in it for some moment.

"Yeah..."

"Yeah..." They muttered in the same tone and same time, busting out in laughter.

"I don't want to border you with my burdens. Thanks for the concern." She replied James.

"Well I don't know if you know, but I'm kind of a carrier of burdens. Just drive them in and drive them out." He joked again. Making her to release a giggle.

"Well mister burden carrier, are you trying to refer me, your client as a burden?" She questioned. Trying to get words off his mouth.

"You know that wasn't what I was getting at." He replied. Trying to redeem himself. They both giggled at the same time.

"It's just that, you're one of the youngest, most elegant and gorgeous, breathtaking, and bravest CEO I've ever met. I'm not trying to flatter you but it's true." He indirectly reassured her of her abilities with the intention of making her feel more confident. In his mind, he was certain that something serious must have happened to trigger her bad mood. He concluded in his mind that it must be from the mail she got this morning. He felt for her, but didn't want to pry in her personal affairs.

"Are you trying to be sweet or what? James. I appreciate you trying to boost my spirit, but you'll have to do better than that, because I'm far better than all that you've mentioned." She bragged. Though she was serious about being more than what he had described her to be, to James, it felt like a play.

"No seriously, it's that all you see when you look at me? Ah... I'm so hurt right now. You just made me feel worse than I already did." She ended. James was speechless. He wanted so much to yell how ungrateful and prideful she was but couldn't.

There was a total silence throughout the remaining drive to the office. Immediately they reached the office. She didn't wait for james to come open the door for her, she went down banging the door, and went straight into her office.
