Epilogue

" They are healing up nicely " the pack doctor tells me and I sigh with relief . I'm glad we decided to ask a neighbouring pack doctor for help ( Alpha Reiner ) . Apparently , Dianna .. I mean , Mom , was successful in convincing him after all and he doesn't seem to have a problem with her meeting me anymore as long as she doesn't come close to Dracula in the slightest .

 The pack doctor was a good call , those injuries were not my cup of tea at all .

Michael was pacing around outside the room the whole time . The guilt was eating him alive . He was with Michelle at the time and his phone was outside their room . I don't blame him and I'm honestly glad that he wasn't there when it happened . Because then what happened to Alec could have happened to him as well .

I blame myself for what happened to Alec . I was the one who called him , I should have just went myself without him . I'm the reason he's human now .

' Thank you . ' he had told me .

Apparently , to him being a werewolf was a curse . I don't know if he said it to make me feel less guilty but he decided to open up to me . It turns out that he was adopted and didn't live in a pack . So when he turned on his 18th birthday , he accidentally ended up killing his adoptive sister under the influence of his wolf .

Ever since he had considered it a curse . The temper . The transition . All of it . He wanted to be human again .

After Mia , the girl he treated like a younger sister , was murdered along with the rest of the pack . He had just accepted that the supernatural world was something he didn't want to be a part of .

I don't know what to believe . It's still my fault .

At least I did one thing right . The assumption of Nell from the motel being her daughter was correct .

It turns out , Nell was indeed killed by rogues . The only reason she didn't find peace this whole time was because of the terrible things Nadia was doing . She didn't want to be brought back into this horrendous world .

She wanted to find peace .

As for Nadia ..

As soon as the contract was released .

There was another fate waiting for her altogether .

I shiver at the memory .

Jace wasn't kidding when he promised her that he would slaughter her limb by limb , while Nell watched . I would be lying if I said I didn't empty out my guts on the side at the end of it .

And he did it all with ripped flesh and oozing blood . I groan at the memory .

I really thought I had improved since my transition but I guess I'll always be a light weight when it comes to death and torture .

I don't know what happened to Nell after that , I doubt she would have found peace after what she just witnessed .

Aeron , on the other hand .. is a whole different story .

When he saw what was happening to Nadia , he bailed instantly along with Noah. I was hurt for a really long time . He saw that I was about to get stabbed and just stood there and watched . That's when I knew it wasn't really him .

I just wanted to believe because .. even if he has half of his soul . It's still his soul right . He did say one thing though , he would try to retrieve all of his soul and come back to me . Many years later after a few deals with the hell demons, he would prove that to be true . He would be a spoiled uncle to my kids and would get over his differences with Jace .

Speaking of which , my intuition about Gargon wasn't wrong . That bastard was a silver eyed demon , roaming for the sole purpose of finding the half soul , Aeron on earth . I guess hell was shocked to recieve a half delivery ?

Crayton and his goons were all in on it . They provided Aeron to Nadia . They slaughtered Jace's pack on her command . They escaped any witnesses and managed to take down a whole pack only with the aid of Nadia's invisibility spells .

I have a feeling that this is going to be Jace's next goal . To hunt them down and rip them apart one by one .

It may be selfish but as long as he comes home safe to me , it doesn't matter .

The only problem left was the dagger . What would we do if something similar happened in the future ? So we asked Asha for help concerning the dagger issue . She thinks she can come up with a way to destroy it and perhaps even restore Alec's wolf . He doesn't want it back though so maybe there was truth in his words after all , that makes me feel at least a little bit less guilty for what happened to him .

In the meantime , Kayla and I were getting along more with each day that passed .

I don't trust her . Frankly , I don't think I can trust most people ever again but .. for now there was improvement . Maybe one day we'll be friends like we were before .

" Mornin , love . " Jace blinks a few times , adjusting to the light and then gives me a hearty grin . His messy dirty blonde hair made me want to run my hands through it . 

He's safe .

I really thought I was going to lose him for a second there but he's safe . 

My heart flutters .

" You're getting discharged today . Whee ~ " I smile happily .

" Well what's going to be my welcome back present ? " he asks with a wink , pointing to his lips .

I shake my head in disappointment and relief . He won't change .

I'm glad .

I give in and place a soft kiss on his lips feeling the comforting tingles run through my body with a relaxing shock . I pull back before he tries to deepen it . It took him a few days to heal considering the injuries sustained from a blood contract defiance are fatal . 

" My life hasn't particularly been a happy one . For the first time , I feel lucky . " I tell him with a smile , repeating his own words and feeling them more intensely than ever .

He looks taken back for a few seconds but then responds with a grateful grin .

" I love you . "

" It's finally over , right ? " I sigh as he raises his hand to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear , he places a hand behind my neck and brings me closer to gently kiss my forehead . 

" I'll always stay with you , no matter what ." he promises me . 

I roll my eyes . 

" Don't be cheesy . "
