Something about this flower turned me pale, it must be “him” I thought, how did he know where I am?
Has he been keeping tabs on me? I could see detective Emma trying to plead my cause maybe.
The smirk disappeared and he was full of concern.
“Kate” he called as he sat on the chair opposite me, “this is my partner...Kayla” she answered with a smile.
“Every clue counts in this investigation, you have to be honest with us” she said with a tone that gave away her suggestion.
“The flowers?” I asked out of curiosity, the looks in their eyes betrayed their thoughts: “she is really warming up to this.” “Well, that is too personal” I retorted.
“You don’t have to be afraid Kate,” Emma said. “Even if you have another boyfriend apart from Albert it will not conclusively determine that you were involved with Albert’s disappearance.”
I laughed hysterically, that is ridiculous I thought, they must have made it out from Melissa’s accusations.
Now am sure they all see me as a bitch, maybe rightly so.
One thing I am sure of is that I won’t reminisce the past events of my life, my shame and wounds until I met Albert who took me out of that mess and changed my life.
This reminded of how important Albert is to me.
“There is nothing to tell,” I replied the two anxious detectives who were now piercing my mind with a mixture of worried and concerned looks.
“It’s already late we will continue from where we left off by tomorrow morning,” Emma said with resignation.
That was the most frightful night I have ever had. I had lots of nightmares: occasionally screaming and shouting throughout the night.
I could hear the complaints of the officers on duty grumbling about my attitude and swearing that I should better let them have their rest.
“Good morning dear,” was what woke me up from my slumber. I must have slept off during the early hours of the morning.
“Morning Baby,” I said oblivious of the situation. The bewildered look on his face told the story. “Am sorry detective” I said. “I could be clumsy some times.”
I couldn’t help but notice the gaping of his mouth. “Never mind,” I said to make a closure.
“Morning guys, sorry am late, I was held up in a traffic; hope I didn’t miss anything?” “Nothing much” replied Emma to the anxious Kayla.
“We were just catching up” Emma continued with a slight blush. Before they could say anything else they received a call.
“Hello, detective Vin… is the result out… okay I see.”
“Am sorry miss Kate, but you’re under arrest for the suspected kidnapping and murder of Mr Albert Connor-Mckinney; you have the right to an attorney if you can’t hire one, one will be provided for you.”
I could see the pains in their eyes. “What do you mean!?” I shouted, officers am innocent, I kept shouting…
Emma’s POVI just received a call during patrol to call in a lady for questioning. “ I heard she assaulted one Melissa who is her boyfriends mom” said Kayla, my partner.“Moreover, she continued; her boyfriend is missing since 10 pm yesterday.”“What a bitch” I thought… the nudge from Kayla brought me back to reality. “So, where to?” I asked.“No 6, Sparrows avenue” she responded.I sped up to the destination. Let me introduce myself. My name is Emma Well. Standing at 1.85m , well built with blonde hair, I am every lady’s heartthrob; which have made me a well known playboy. However, when it comes to my work, I am very meticulous and perceptive: both qualities have made me one the most outstanding detectives in my division. For some reasons, I felt awkward and shy about this lady… what is wrong w
Emma’s POV This news about search warrant baffled me: Melissa is a well known attorney, she must have pulled some strings. I have to be professional and give her the information. Afterwards, I saw her doe eyes turn cloudy; she’s obviously irate and frustrated by that. I have to do something today… I have a feeling that this case is a huge conspiracy, moreover a possible evidence have been collected from her apartment. “… you will have to stay with us for the next forty-eight hours…” I said to her and with that I left to execute my plan. Outside the interrogation room, I saw Melissa talking with other officers and the Captain. She said a lot of things about Kate, though they were not related to the case she was making her out to be a “total whore”. “Hello, Vin can you doe a favor?”, “What’s it man?” He asked. “Please I want the samples to be analyzed by Lynn,” I pleaded. “Okay man,” he replied at t
Emma’s POV The next morning , I was ecstatic; beaming with joy. “You’re one lucky guy bro,” it was Stanley. “Hey bro, I responded. We chatted briefly before the breakfast and I took off. I can’t wait to get back to office this morning. I have already put a call across to Kayla. We have to hurry before the forty-eight hours elapse. On getting to the office, I quickly exchanged pleasantries with my colleagues and I rushed to meet Kate. I was there for few seconds watching her sleep. “Good morning dear,” I greeted her, I was shocked when she responded: “morning babe.” My reaction was involuntary, I desperately tried to hide my astonished and satisfactory smile. Before I could respond, she definitely made a closure. In that second, I wanted to just feel good about myself. Kayla’s POV Emma called m
TV NEWS “… Bringing you the update on the missing person’s case, the name is Albert Connor-Mckinney; a government agent who went missing on May 6th, here you can see the body already bloated, it has been three days. He was killed and dumped in the incinerator at the redevelopment site down the street… evidence show that he was probably stabbed before he was shot dead. Even after he died, the assailant continued the assault: an overkill; which shows that the murder is a crime of passion and revenge. … People are suggesting that the girlfriend could possibly be an accomplice… as of now, no further information have been verified now, we will keep you updated, June Hall reporting.” Emma’s POV I looked at the devastated Kate, I knew she was going through a tough time; I gotta do something to help. So I decided to leave with Kayla to the crime scene
Emma’s POV I really have to reinvestigate the crime scene, am sure that we might be missing one or two clues. I have put to put a team together to ensure the success of this investigation. I turned it over in mind since that day on May 6th, it is already three days; thank God the scene was sealed off. “Who are my going to add to the team?” I pondered. Then I concluded on adding Lynn and Vin to my team. This case must be resolved, I said with all determination. “The time is 6am,” it’s my alarm clock. I just got up and freshened up for the case. The prosecution have already called Kate to court for aggravated assault and trespassing this can’t be delayed any longer. Melissa will definitely use this opportunity to keep her in jail and bias the mind of the jury in the murder case trial. Vin’s POV Being a detective for several years, I have come across many puzzles, but this case seems to be deeper than what the facts are presenting.
Chris’ POV I am really pissed this morning. What the fuck? This man was not looking where he was going. “Just mind your way” I said in response to his pleading. When I realized he was an officer and asked for my ID the only thing in my mind was run! I laughed as I saw them in hot pursuit with the patrol car, I will show them how we run the streets. Soon I lost their car, I have to quickly report to the boss. Emma’s POV We lost the vehicle, “that guy must be a gangster” I thought out aloud. “He sure is” everyone said in agreement. At least we now know there’s more to the story. Vin’s POV “We have to request for official reinvestigation guys” I said, everyone agreed. I know the sheriff will give us an earful when we back to the station. Kayla’s POV I found out something interesting on the scene: shoe prints about the size of 45-47. The accomplice must be at least 6ft tall. “ Here are torn clothes stained with bloo
Emma’s POV“ I doubt this guy is the culprit, I think he’s an accomplice, someone is using him” I said with disappointment. Shockingly everyone thought as much.Kayla’s POV“At least we got a substantial clue,” I said to lighten the mood. I know that we will take our time in this investigation for sure.Sheriff Morgan’s POV“Guys anything meaningful? Have you ID that son of a bitch?” I asked approaching the sullen looking officers. The look in their eyes told me that not much progress has been made.I was really irate, that I literally flew there, “let me see what you’ve got” I demanded. “This people have been on my arse since morning” I continued.Kayla’s POV“This people?” I asked in confusion, then it dawned on me that this case is becoming bigger than I envisioned.“Let’s have a press conference&rdq
Kayla’s POV I can’t let this madness continued. “I am Kayla, a senior detective at Winster county PD ask me your questions?” I said to the reporters to remove their attention from the sheriff. “I received a tip about…” they kept coming at me. I quickly handled the situation, “the tip you received shows that there is a mole, because this is an official sting operation it is not supposed to be public” I answered. “Do you have idea who the mole might be?” they asked. “ I am not at liberty to discuss an ongoing investigation” I said with finality. Lynn’s POV I quickly wrapped the scene and then I told them what happened earlier.. Tanner’s POV I set-up Max, he has been a torn on the flesh, it will be cool if I killed him using the cops. I saw the bewildered look on Chris, “that’s how I play” I said to him… Chris’ POV “Boss, I won’t snitch trust me” I said to Tanner. He nodded and smiled. We then zoomed off. “Boss that lady i
