Chapter 290

Author: Andrea North
Jason was both furious and panicking at the same time. "Y-You guys… T-This isn't fair! There's no honor in ganging up on one man!"

Ralph glanced down at this crumpled, shaking, and sniveling figure and couldn't help but laugh. "Honor? You? You've spent your days hiding behind your daddy's money, pushing around women who couldn't fight back. What makes you think you deserve anyone's honor?"

His words scalded Jason with humiliation.

What did any of this have to do with them? So what if he was spoiled and liked to toy with women? He had the money and status, anyway. Not even his victims had dared to accuse him, so why was this random man coming at him?

Of course, he was too afraid to say that aloud. One wrong word, and they might beat him worse.

His breathing grew ragged, and he couldn't utter a word. The smell of dust and fabric filled his nose. Pain rippled through him like fire, forcing tears out of his eyes.

A grown man, reduced to a trembling mess. How pathetic.

Ralph quickly

A wave of injustice washed over Jason when he heard Clifford's voice. He staggered toward him, leaning against the wall for support. His body was in so much pain that he had to close his eyes just to steady his breathing. The journey from the parking lot wasn't far, but every step had felt like walking through hell for him. Whoever did it hadn't broken any bones, but the bruises ran deep, dark, and tender to the touch. The scene was all too familiar for Clifford. He froze, hands tightening on his sides. He was already tense, to begin with, but the sight of Jason's swollen, bruised face reminded him of himself not too long ago. Both of them had experienced the same fate, only that Clifford had covered his marks with a thin layer of concealer. When Jason finally caught his breath, he slowly spoke through the pain and humiliation, "You've got to help me this time, Cliff. I got jumped—all because of Seraphine! I'm in so much pain right now!"He was, at least, smart enough to know how

The moment Jason heard those words, he instantly understood why he was getting bashed—Seraphine. Who on earth was helping her? Who had that kind of influence? Before he could think further, something icy crashed over his head. A freezing shock spread through him, sending shivers through his body. Then, chaos followed—shadows closing in, blows landing from every direction. He hugged his head to protect his face, but the attackers didn't miss. Punches and kicks landed squarely across his face. It was excruciating, confusing, and humiliating. Not knowing what to do, he bargained, "Stop hitting me! Do you even know who I am? You'll regret this!"Jason had never suffered this kind of physical humiliation before. Pain shot through his entire body, accompanied by fury and disgrace. The bodyguards didn't hold back at all. Every strike landed deliberately with force, and his body trembled, succumbing to the sudden shocks. He wanted to escape, but darkness enveloped him. There was nowhere

Jason quickly came up with an excuse. "I've got plenty of ways. The Greene family's project? Clifford's involved, too."His tone turned defensive. "He wronged you before, didn't he? I'm sure you'll definitely want revenge. That's the whole reason you sabotaged his product launch, isn't it?"Seraphine let out a soft laugh. Her features were exquisite to begin with, but when she smiled like that, the world seemed to pale in comparison to her. "So, you do know that Clifford wronged me."He slammed a hand on the table. "He didn't love you, and that wasn't his fault.""You're right—very right, actually. He doesn't have to love me, but he has no right to use or deceive me," she rebuked. He scoffed, trying to sound reasonable. "You were useful to him, and that's why he used you. You should've taken it as a compliment that he did that. After all, you're just an orphan no one cares about."A faint chill rippled through the air. The night wind grew colder, and Seraphine's gaze turned glaci

Jason's eyes darkened as he stared at Seraphine. "What's your relationship with the host? And why did you come down from the second floor? Even Cliff didn't have access up there—what makes you qualified to go?"Her cool gaze swept over him, indifferent and sharp. What was he trying to imply? She smirked coldly as she questioned, "So, in your understanding, I'm automatically not qualified to be anywhere that Clifford isn't? If I am, it's wrong, and if he is, it's right. Is that it?"He froze, momentarily speechless. The chill in her eyes, that effortless authority, and the quiet defiance were something she only gained after leaving Clifford. Without him, she was so dazzling that he was almost in awe.Earlier, when she had faced Clifford, Clarissa, and Megan, she had stayed calm and poised. The woman before him now was different from the person he once knew. She was steady, composed, and commanding and had the bearing of someone who truly belonged at the top.He couldn't help but t

  • Karma Is My Name   Chapter 286

From the second-floor balcony, Elliott watched as Seraphine left safely, his eyes soft with affection. There was no way anyone could terrorize her under his watch. Anyone who tried would pay a hefty price. As for Clifford and Clarissa, he would leave them for Seraphine to handle herself. Killing them off too quickly would be far too boring. Perhaps dragging things out might bring unexpected rewards. With a glass of red wine in hand, Elliott took a slow, elegant sip. He looked into the distant sea, where the moon hung full and bright over the dark waves. Hidden in the shadows, his figure appeared dangerously captivating. He set the glass down on the nearby table and grabbed his phone to text Seraphine, who had just sat down to eat when her phone buzzed. A message from "Eli" came."Hey, Sera. I heard from a friend that you're at the business summit. I'm here, too. When are you leaving? I'm about to wrap up on my end, and we can head home together."Seraphine stared at the message, s
