Shelly peeled her eyes open and groaned before shutting it. She tried again, but this time a hand was shielding her eyes from the sun rays.
"I just had the weirdest dream ever." She yawned and looked at the owner of the hand shielding her eyes and screamed.
"It's not a bloody dream!" She screamed bloody murder as the woman jerked back immediately.
"Shelly, what is the problem?" The woman who claimed to be her mom asked.
"You are my problem!" She shrieked.
"That is no way to talk to your mother, young lady." The man named Lucas also claiming to be her father snapped.
"Mr. Hillary, I'll handle this ok." She heard a familiar voice and almost wept with relief when Kiara walked into the room.
"Kiara, I'm so happy to see you." She hugged her and the couple left the room.
"Ok, what's going on with you?" Kiara asked.
Shelly ignored her and looked at her fascinated. She still looked the same with her shoulder-length brown hair and deep blue eyes.
"Earth to Shelly." Kiara waved her hand in front of her face and Shelly held it.
"You look very much the same." She gushed. "Why did I change so much?"
"You're still you, Shelly. How you've always been." Kiara answered, surprised.
"No, I'm not. Something happened and I don't know what." Shelly groaned throwing her hands up.
"Yeah, you're acting weird but you've always been weird." Kiara mused.
"No, I'm not weird. Never has and never will be." She snapped.
"Alright, I get it." Kiara raised her hand in mock surrender.
"Listen, where's Cindy?"
Kiara lifted a perfectly arched brow and stared at her. "You're talking about Cindy Champman right, Chase Parker's fiance?"
Shelly stared at her surprised. Cindy was engaged to her ex and bearing her surname. What are the odds of that?
"I'd like to see a picture." She requested while Kiara stared at her like she wasn't there.
"Ok, it's official. Something's wrong with you." Kiara said.
"Just show me the pictures."
"I never thought there'd come a day when I'd have to show you pictures of your crush." Kiara mused before unlocking her phone and showing her a picture.
It was Chase Parker and Cindy. She didn't look like a nerd at all, she looked exactly like Shelly only much more beautiful.
Kiara showed her another picture of Cindy and her dad but the man looked exactly like her father.
"How's this possible." She whispered, cowering in a corner of the bed--fear evident in her eyes.
"I know right." Kiara sympathized. "How's he engaged to that bitch?"
"No, not that." She whispered.
"What's the matter, Shelly? You know you can talk to me." Kiara asked the scared girl.
"Kiara, I'm going to tell you something and I need you to believe me," she began, while Kiara nodded.
"I was at home yesterday and it was 27th June, my birthday. The last thing that happened was an argument between me and Cindy. You suggested we go to the bar and we drove off in the Bugatti my dad got for me then we crashed and I woke up here, looking like this."
"Ok, deep breaths." Kiara patted her back holding back her laughter. "You had the weirdest dream ever."
"It's not a dream!" She yelled. "I was Shelly Champman. Chase and I broke up yesterday. I was so furious and I didn't look like this."
"Of course." Kiara nodded.
"I was exactly like how this new Cindy looks and that's my dad. This isn't my room, Cindy's the nerd here." Shelly was crying now.
"Ok darling, I understand." Kiara consoled her.
"You don't believe me!" She shrieked. "Nobody does. Please, tell me what's going on here."
"I don't have any idea of what you're talking about," Kiara replied. "We hung out last night and that was it, we came home late, you were drunk. There's been no other friend except you and me."
Shelly shook her head furiously slapping her cheeks crying. "No, this is all a dream. Wake up, Shelly."
"Stop it, Shelly!" Kiara cried.
"It's not real." She continued hitting herself, ignoring her. "You're dreaming. Wake up."
Suddenly something clicked in her brain. Nerdy glasses, Cindy's a nerd too. She's made fun of all nerds maybe this is an alternate universe trying to punish her.
"Kiara, this isn't real!" She exclaimed, "I'm in an alternate universe where all my fears are real. I think it's a spell. That stupid movie, nerdy glasses, and Cindy placed a spell on me."
"Uh-huh." Kiara stared at her as she ranted without stopping. She knew her friend read a lot of books, but now she's finally gone bonkers.
"Are you even listening to me!" Shelly snapped.
She looked up from her phone after texting Shelly's mom to get a doctor and smiled. "Of course, I am."
Shelly narrowed her eyes and stared at her suspiciously. "What are you hiding?"
Kiara gave an uneasy laugh. "I'm not hiding shit."
"So I just have to find how to break the bloody spell." Shelly continued ignoring her. "In nerdy glasses, she couldn't tell the guy she loved how she felt, the same goes for Cindy. So I just have to tell Chase Parker how I feel about him because he's the hero."
"Uh-huh, just like you didn't have the balls to tell him last month." Kiara laughed. "Girl, you squirm and run each time he's around."
"I would never, take me to him right now!" She ordered.
"No, you're staying here till I know for sure what's wrong with you," Kiara replied.
"Kiara! I'm telling you I can break the spell."
"Of course." Kiara rolled her eyes.
The door opened and a man in white overall stepped in with Lucas and what's the woman's name. The man looked like a doctor. She narrowed her eyes to slits and stared at Kiara.
"Don't give me that look, I had to make sure you're alright." Kiara pouted.
"Hi, I'm doctor Davis I'm here..." The man hardly finished talking when something was sent flying towards him. He barely ducked in time when another book came flying over his head.
"Creepy bananas Moses!" The doctor cursed.
Kiara looked amused as she stared at the doctor, shielding himself from Shelly's book assault. The books kept flying until Kiara restrained her, deciding she's had enough fun.
"Let me go, traitor!" Shelly shrieked pulling away.
"Creepy bananas Moses I need your help." Kiara giggled.
The doctor huffed before coming out of his hiding place with the scared couple and held her.
"You've got to teach me some swear words, they'd come in handy," Kiara smirked.
"I'll do no such thing, woman." The doctor wiped his face looking flustered. He didn't know he was coming to see a crazy patient let alone, her cocky friend.
"Suit yourself, creepy pants," Kiara smirked feeling pleased with herself.
Shelly was still struggling in their grip. "Let me go! I need to see Chase. I need to break the spell."
"What spell?" The doctor and couple asked.
She'd never considered them her parents. She eyed them suspiciously as Kiara briefed them.
"Do you believe you're in a kind of alternate universe?" Doctor Davis asked.
"I know I am." Shelly rolled her eyes.
"Ok, uhm I'm going to have to observe you and run some tests on you." He suggested.
"I'm not crazy," Shelly stated clearly.
No one replied. She looked at everyone and they were eerily quiet. "Oh my God! You guys think I'm crazy."
"No, of course not," Kiara said, "just stressed. You read a lot of after all."
Shelly jumped up immediately and ran out of the room as everyone followed, hot on her tail. She entered the kitchen and picked up the kitchen knife.
"Stay back." She pointed the knife at them.
They all stopped immediately. Everyone's eyes were wide with fear. Kiara looked confused and concerned, the doctor looked scared, the people that claimed to be her parents looked sad and scared, the woman was already crying. She couldn't care less. She needed to leave here right now.
"Where is Chase Parker's office?" She asked.
The doctor raised his hand in surrender and replied. "Drop the knife and I'll take you there."
He looked so concerned and sincere. She dropped the knife and walked towards him but regretted it immediately when they held her down and she felt the sharp prick of the needle in her skin.
Her vision blurred as she realized she's been drugged. Great, in less than twenty-four hours she's passed out twice. Karma was dealing with her.
