Chapter 9

Amelie POV

My heart beat rapidly against my chest as I stare at the two naked... Let me say the couple, standing in front of me. The king is glaring hard at me with anger written all his face, and I know that I've just gotten myself into a big trouble that I might not get out of easily. It wasn't my fault that I barged in on them, I thought he was not around. I mean, he hasn't been around for the past few days, and I had no idea he was back.

I finally gulp down the lump in my throat, and quickly bend down and pick up the clothes, turning my back to them afterward.

"Forgive me, Your Highness... I had no idea you were around," I quickly apologize to him, and advance to the door, but the woman's voice brings me to an abrupt halt, as she suddenly says, "Wait!". My heartbeat increases as it runs a marathon in my chest.

"Who are you?" She suddenly asks out of the blue, after a long silence, and I gulp down nothing nervously.

"Uhm... My name is Amelie... I'm a maid in the palace,"
