Chapter 2: Kismet...Rings of Truth

Paths crossed…

Peter picked up the unconscious girl. The moment he touched her, he felt the electricity of brutal attraction sizzling throughout his whole body. Walking purposefully towards his suite, the bellboy decided to run ahead of him and unlock the door.

“Call a doctor immediately.”

“Yes sir,” the man placed the rucksack just within the suite before closing the door.

Peter very carefully placed her down on the bed. He brushes the hair away from her face, stunned at her beauty.

“Who are you?” he questions softly.

Being a billionaire who was used to the most beautiful and worldly women, he looked stunned and shocked to the very core about his instant reaction towards the strange girl. He wants to keep his eyes on her but he feels afraid she might just be a figment of his imagination. He never in his life expected to encounter this type of person.

“Who are you,” he repeats the same question.

Walking around impatiently in the room he keeps looking at his watch wondering where the doctor was. Pulling a chair close to the bed he very carefully took hold of her hand. Again, he felt the pull of attraction.

“Who are you, beautiful? What or who brought you to this state of unconsciousness?”

He sits there taking in her profile, the words just forming in his mind…

“You literally run into my arms making me realized you are the missing part of my life’s puzzle. I am a man who never chased love or seeks affection. I barely looked into your eyes before feeling the instinct and need to protect you.”

The doctor knocked briefly and enters interrupting his turbulent thoughts.

“I am doctor Young. What seems to be the problem?”

“How should I know,” Peter snapped suddenly not liking the youth looking doctor. “Be careful with her, I don’t want anything happening to her.”

“Who is she to you, sir?” The doctor looked suspiciously at him while placing his finger on her arm feeling for a pulse.

“She is my fiancée but when I returned to the hotel she run into my arms and collapse.”

Peter can’t keep his eyes of her still face. The doctor works swiftly before getting up and closing his doctor’s bag.

“What’s wrong with her?”

The doctor stood his full length but still coming up short against the tall muscled Peter.

“Your…er, your fiancée simply fainted.” He said with open suspicion in his eyes.

“What the hell is your tone suggesting?” Peter move closer which force the other man to retreat. “Tell me now what is wrong with her?”

“I told you, she fainted and it seems like she is not eating properly.” The younger man narrowed his eyes clearly not intimidated by Peter who seems to be growing more furious.

“Thank you doctor you will receive your payment at the front desk.” Peter went and sits down beside the bed.

“I will come back and check on her later again.” The doctor dare in saying.

“No need doctor.” Peter simply dismissed the man, his look demand that he leave now.

“I am the doctor, you will not tell me what to do, sir.”

“Are you looking for a fight?” Peter stood and swiftly walked towards the man. He reached for him and physically throws him out of the room closing the door.

Reaching for his phone he called the hotel manager and had a brief but precise conversation. He feels the anger building inside of him. Going back to the bed he sits down and carefully took hold of the fragile hand. For the first time he noticed the rucksack. Just sitting there he wonder what was inside but then decides not to invade her privacy.

Who are you beautiful? The speed with which you run into the hotel told me someone chased you. And according to that little man I just throw out, you seem ‘hungry’ you somehow instantly decide to put your faith in me. I won’t drop you. You don’t even realized that simple action has a now life changing reaction in my life. It seems my soul has been searching for you. This very notion was absurd. I am not that type of guy who believes in the cosmos.”

Sammy starts to stir. Her eyes slowly opened. Staying motionless she noticed the big man lying very uncomfortable in the chair. Quietly she studies his face with a very specific knowledge settling in her heart.

“I know you,” Her mind says. “How did I end up here?”

She keeps looking at him, it seems like he was asleep. Judging from the length of his body, that chair wasn’t designed for what he was doing to it.

Moving her body carefully until she sits upright but immediately she was swamped with unexpected dizziness.

“Wow!” she whispered softly.

Quickly she looked to see if he waken but he seem to be in the same position. Very carefully now she starts too swift until her legs dropped down on the floor on the other side of the bed. Again she looked at him still unmoved.

“Now where is it? I hope he thought of bringing it along.” She looked around. “Ah! There is it.’

Moving very carefully she makes her way towards her rucksack that stood beside the chair he was sitting on.

The moment she touched the rucksack he opened his eyes looking directly into her startling ones.

“Hello beautiful.” He whispers.

Sammy stood there frozen not sure what to do. She was fighting the impulse to either stay of took flight.

“How do you feel, beautiful? You gave me a proper scare.” He still keeps his voice low and unthreatened.

She still said nothing just keep looking into his eyes. It starts to dawn on her that her back was hurting from the bended stance.

“How are you doing? Like the position you currently occupies?” he teasingly queries.

“No,” she speaks at last.

“Then what are you planning on doing?”

“Stand up I think.”

“That sounds like a plan. But tell me once you completed that task, what will you do next?”

“Pick up my rucksack while still bended.” She answers looking curiously at him.

“Oh! I see. So before straightening you must do that task first makes sense and then what?”

“You are an odd man.” She observed while standing tall now.

“Maybe but I must admit I found you extremely fascinating.”

“Why?” she asked shock even to her own ears.

“I have decided to marry you.” His lips twist into a very sensual smile.

“Why on earth?” she asked again openly shocked.

“I will tell you but rather tell me, what is your plan next?”

“What do you mean?” She looked confused now. She realized the man is making her thoughts jumbled.

“Now, let me see how to explain. Firstly, you woke up and immediately noticed you are in a strange bedroom. Instead of making noise you lay there watching me. I can bet you thought the same words you utter the first time you wrapped yourself lovingly into my arms. And by the way, I am yours but I think I have to convince you about it.”

I know you, burns in her mind.

Sammy stood there looking at him. He has been talking without moving.

“Are you not uncomfortable?”

“I am.”

“Then why don’t you move?”

“I am afraid.” He confesses.

“Afraid of what?” she stood there frowning at him.

“You” he said simply.

“Why are you talking to me as if I am a fool?”

“I am not, beautiful. May I move?”

“Yes you may.” She snapped furious.

He stood his full length and straight until he felt his body parts falling into place. He is careful to keep a bit of space between them.

“I am Peter.” He holds out his hand for her to take.

“Sammy.”

“It is a whole-hearted pleasure to meet you.”

“Now, mister, tell me what do you mean with this nonsense that you are afraid of me?”

“Well, like I said, you practically sneak from the bed. If I didn’t open my eyes, you would have simply sneaked away from me and I won’t ever have seen you again.”

“Are you sure about that?” she asks him with a kind of challenge in her tone.

“Hmm, the question needs consideration. What do you think?”

“Life is strange…” she observe before moving at last and stood in front of the window.

A knock at the door startled her. The instinct for flight was clearly visible.

“Easy beautiful I ordered something to eat.”

Peter went and opened the door allowing the waiter entrance. Once he finished with the setting of the table for dinner he left.

“Will you do me the honor of having dinner with me, Sammy?”

Completely thrown for a loop she just looked at him. She has been awakening for a few minutes now but she doesn’t feel the instinct to run from him. Instead she crave being in his company.

“May I wash my hands?”

“By all means use the bathroom.”

Peter stood aside allowing her to enter before he goes and stood in front of the window. It didn’t take long before she joins him in the bedroom again.

“May I admit something to you, Peter?”

“You can tell me anything or asked anything. I will answer honestly.”

He pulls out a chair for her and notices she placed the rucksack beside her chair. He went and sits down across from her.

“I didn’t know what you like or if you have any allergies so I ordered something light.” He quickly filled her plate. “Hope you like it?”

“Thank you. Now tell me what do you want from me, Peter?”

“I never realize my day will be concluded like this. If I don’t do this now I know I will regret it for the rest of my life. Sammy, this is never part of my daily actions but I am going to take a huge leap of faith.”

I know you. I believe in kismet… she quietly thinks. “I can see the rings of truth…”

“Sammy will you do me the honor of marrying me? Become my wife and bring my life full circle.” He holds out his hand towards her…
