Sammy sat motionless in the garden. She wore a far away expression. When she woke this morning she came to the conclusion not to move one inch from this bench. She had shut everything down inside of herself. It’s best not to think. The lesson that settled within her heart was never to take people at face value. Apparently her godparents have the ability to lie with a smile. She realized she should be more selective with her handling and giving of information.

“Sammy!”

Margie stood beside her, hesitant to touch her. The brown eyes turned to look at her but she wasn’t really seeing at her.

“Child, you can’t sit out here all day. Why don’t you go to the shop and do a bit of creative work or go for a drive. It might help with whatever the problem was.”

“I’ll consider the notion.”
