Chapter 5

Ryan Smith looked in horror as the woman before him fell to the ground, her eyes where glued on him, for a moment, he didn't know what to do, he had never seen a person being shot in front of him,

She held her stomach tightly staining her hands with blood,

“Sir please follow us” one of his father's men said as he stood in front of him,

“Take her to the hospital, she needs to see a Doctor” Ryan finally said when he found his voice 

“But Sir, she kidnapped and tried to kill you, this was to protect you” the man spoke, Ryan carried the woman in his arms and walked away,

He took her outside and looked around only to realize they where in what appeared to be in the middle of the Ocean, he turned to one of his father's men

“How far are we from the nearest hospital?” He asked, none of the men answered, they only exchanged looks,

“I am asking you damn it!, If something happens to her, I can promise you that you all will kiss your jobs goodbye” he threatened, the head of his father's security finally came forward

“20 minutes but your father instructed us to take you home immediately, he is worried sick about you and…”

“My father isn't here, stop the bleeding and make sure she stays alive before we reach the nearest hospital” Ryan ordered cutting him Short, this time, the men immediately got to work while he watched, he took a moment to look at the woman wondering if she would make it,

She looked so innocent and vulnerable in the state she was in, it was almost impossible to imagine she almost beat his Ass a few minutes ago, how can someone so small be able to fight that much?, Perhaps she was indeed the Don’s daughter.

Half an hour later, Ryan found himself outside a small hospital on a little island waiting for the Doctor to finish operating on the woman, he found himself anxious unable to sit still,

One of his father's men approached him holding a phone and handed it to him

“From your father” he said, Ryan took the phone. Even though he didn't want to talk to his father at the moment, he knew he had no other option and took the call.

“What the hell are you doing?” He heard his father's angry voice

“Saving a life as I should” he said, his father had raised him to be a good man and that's what he was trying to do

“A life of the person that kidnapped and tried to kill you?” His father questioned

“She claims to be the Don’s daughter Dad, you know what that means” there was silence on the line for a few seconds that Ryan was forced to ask

“Dad are you there?”

“Yes” his dad responded after a while

“She could be lying about it but that's what she said, something about getting justice for her mother. Does the Don have a daughter?” Ryan asked, with how obbessed his dad was about the man, surely he knew this if it was true

“Yes, he does. I will send in a private jet to transfer her to town where she can get better treatment” he said, Ryan let out a sign of relief

“That sounds better” he commented. The call soon ended just as the Doctor Left the operating room, Ryan went up to him

“Doctor, how was the operation?” He asked anxiously

“She lost a lot of blood but we were able to remove the bullet, she will be okay” Ryan felt a wave of relief wash over him, something about someone dying because of him didn't sit right with him, he was glad she didn't die, besides, he had a lot of questions he wanted to ask her just as he wanted to ask his father.

In the next few hours, Ryan was back home, he had the woman put in one of the rooms at his home, he wanted to be the first to talk to her immediately she woke up,

He called in his family Doctor and two nurses for her as he didn't know how long it would be until she woke up. After making sure everything was set, he was about to go and take a shower when he heard his girlfriend, Grace call out his name from downstairs,

“I am here” he said, Grace throw her arms around him when she got where he was

“I heard you went missing, I was so worried about you” she said clinging unto him

“Am fine, it was nothing” he said, Truth was, his body felt sore from all the fighting, he had never had someone beat him like that especially a woman, it was even embarrassing for him to admit

“Are you sure?” Grace asked inspecting his body

“Yeah, am just tired, it has been a hectic few hours” he admitted, he needed rest and probably some pain killers

“But who would want to harm you?, You would never hurt a fly” She commented, Ryan's eyes drifted to the guest room where the woman was,

“What's wrong?” Grace asked following his eyes

“The woman that wanted to kill me is in there” he said, Grace walked towards the room and opened the door peeping inside

“Why would you have a killer in your house?” She questioned

“She is unable to cause me any harm in the state she is in” Ryan said

“But still, shouldn't she be at a hospital or something?, Besides after what she did, why not let her just die?” Ryan was surprised to hear Grace say this

“Would you be fine if a person was dying because of you?” He asked

“I don't mean it that way, I just don't think she should be here” Grace appeared to be ashamed of her previous statement

“I need to question her, I can't risk her running away when she wakes up” he told her, Grace took a good look at the woman

“Who is she anyway?” She asked

“That is also what I want to know” Ryan answered thoughtfully….
