Elena ~

My heart was pounding so loud it almost drowned out my breathing the car had stopped just inches from something, and I blinked hard through tears, my chest heaving like I'd run for miles. For a second I thought it was a person, my whole body freezing up until the streetlamp's faint light hit and I saw it a small cat trembling right in front of my car. I let out a shaky breath, pressing my hand over my heart.

"God… it's just a cat."

My fingers trembled as I unbuckled and stepped out into the cold, biting night air that felt too real against my skin. My knees still weak, I crouched slowly so I wouldn't scare it.

"Hey… it's okay," I whispered, my voice breaking between the words.

The cat stared back wide-eyed and frightened for a moment, then darted across the road and that's when I saw headlights blinding mer, a truck's horn screaming through the night racing straight for it.

I couldn't move, my mind blank, body numb in that frozen second until a strong arm grabbed my waist and yanked me back hard I stumbled right into a solid chest, the air whooshing out of me as the truck thundered past, missing us by inches, its wind brushing cold and violent against my face.

My knees buckled completely.

"What the hell were you thinking?"

The voice was low, deep, furious.

I turned and my heart stopped it wasn't Alex, it was Adrian, Alex's brother, his dark eyes catching mine under the streetlight, sharp and burning with restrained anger, his jaw tight, his grip still firm around my waist like he hadn't realized he was holding me.

"You could've been killed, Elena," he said, his voice rough from somewhere deep, the kind that commanded silence without trying.

I swallowed hard, unable to look away as the city went quiet around us, just the two of us standing too close, breathing too fast. He finally let go, his hands falling away but leaving this ghost of warmth that wouldn't fade.

"What were you even doing here?" he asked, tone sharp but steady.

"I… I didn't mean to," I stammered, brushing my hair back. "It was just… there was a cat."

"A cat?" he repeated, disbelief edging his voice. "Do you even hear yourself?"

I bit my lip, eyes stinging again. "I didn't want it to get hurt," I whispered, hating how small and broken I sounded, like all the hurt from Alex had shrunk me down to nothing.

He stared at me for a long second, anger still simmering but something else flickering in his eyes too something unreadable that made my chest twist. Finally he muttered,

"Next time, try not to die for a stranger's pet."

I almost smiled but it came out broken, and before I could say anything his voice cut through lower this time.

"You were crying."

I froze, throat tightening as he stepped closer.

"Your eyes," he said quietly. "They're red. Tear-stained."

I turned away, blinking hard. "It's nothing."

"Doesn't look like nothing."

The calm, steady way he said it, too observant, made my chest ache worse, and suddenly in that dim light I couldn't hold it anymore.

"It's Alex," I whispered, barely getting his name out.

Adrian's jaw tightened instantly, his expression shifting darker.

"What about him?"

I let out a bitter laugh that turned into a sob. "You really want to know?"

He just looked at me, waiting.

"He was at the club," I said, voice shaking. "With someone else. Another girl. He kissed her like I never even existed."

The words hung heavy between us, suffocating, and I saw Adrian's hands curl into fists, his eyes darkening like he'd known Alex would screw up and hated being right.

"Elena…" he started, then stopped, running a hand over his jaw like he was holding back a storm.

I laughed softly, wiping tears. "It's funny, isn't it? You plan your whole day around someone, thinking they're your forever, and then they destroy you just like that two years of my life, all those promises, gone because he couldn't keep his hands off some random girl while I waited like an idiot."

He looked at me then, really looked, something fierce flashing in his eyes.

"He doesn't deserve you."

That hit different the quiet, raw finality of it felt like a verdict, like someone finally saw my worth when Alex never had, and for a long moment we just stood there, the night still and heavy around us, the city holding its breath.

Maybe it was the heartbreak ripping through me, or maybe the way his eyes softened like he actually saw me when I'd felt invisible all night, but in that one reckless second I couldn't stop myself I leaned in closer, my hand brushing his chest, the air between us electric and dangerous, my heart racing for all the wrong reasons now.

  • Kissed My Ex's Brother    Small Efforts, Big Walls

Elena's pov A few days had passed since the wedding disaster, but the memory of it still sat somewhere heavy in my chest, refusing to leave completely. I had gone back to my routine, back to my work, back to pretending I was not thinking about the fact that Alex had embarrassed himself so publicly and that Adrian had stood beside me through all of it like it was the most natural thing in the world. That part bothered me more than I wanted to admit.Adrian had not done anything dramatic after that. No outrageous declarations. No pushing me into conversations I was not ready for. No possessive speeches meant to corner me into feeling something before I was ready. Instead, he had started doing something far more dangerous. He had become quiet. Not distant. Just steady. And somehow that was worse, because I had expected him to either disappear for a while or come at me with all the stubborn intensity he usually carried like a second skin. But he did neither. He simply kept showing up

  • Kissed My Ex's Brother    Karma's Bite

Alex's POVMan, what the fuck just happened? My brain's still reeling from that absolute shitshow of a wedding my wedding, supposed to be the perfect day, turned into a public execution. One minute I'm shaking hands, grinning like an idiot while guests toast my future, and the next? Boom my fiancée's legs up around some random asshole on the big screen for everyone to see. Live. Raw. Her moans blasting louder than the jazz band. I can still hear them echoing in my head, that sick twist in my gut when I realized it wasn't a prank, wasn't a hack gone wrong it was real, and it was mine to deal with. How does a day start with rose petals and champagne and end with me calling off the whole thing in front of God and half the Hamptons? I stood there frozen at first, watching her nails dig into that guy's back, thinking this can't be happening, not to me, not today. But it did. And now? I'm just... numb. Driving aimlessly through the lot, tux still choking me, trying to piece together how

  • Kissed My Ex's Brother    Alex's Wedding drama

Elena's POV I squinted at first, figuring maybe it was a glitchy highlight reel or some pre-recorded toast gone wrong, but no it's crystal clear footage from the makeup room, live and unfiltered. The bride's got her legs wrapped tight around some sweaty random dude, going at it like the wedding vows were just elevator music in the background. Her moans are booming through the speakers now, nails raking down his back, full-on explicit sex unfolding for all three hundred guests to gawk at, no cuts, no mercy. Holy shit, my jaw legit drops open I can't even process it fast enough. No one knew a thing not me, not Adrian, nobody in this fancy-ass crowd had a clue this was coming. Alex turns to stone right there, his face draining every drop of color until he's ghost-white, eyes locked on the screen like it's personally stabbing him. The bride's family looks like they're about to puke their caviar right back up, hands over mouths, while his side starts boiling over with this pure, unfi

  • Kissed My Ex's Brother    Alex's Wedding

Elena's POVA few days later, I stood in front of my full-length mirror, fingers smoothing the sleek emerald gown over my hips, watching how the fabric hugged my curves just right, making me feel powerful, untouchable. I'd moved on from Alex honest to God, I had. Dated Adrian, let him drown out every last echo of my ex with those endless, intense nights where he'd whisper promises against my skin until I forgot my own damn name. But that betrayal? The way he'd cheated me without blinking? It lingered like a bruise that never quite healed. Deep down, under all the "I'm over it" bullshit I fed myself, I wanted him to taste it too the sharp sting of watching someone you once had slip through your fingers forever. And my stupid heart? It still carved Adrian's presence like a junkie needing a fix, aching for him to be close even when my head screamed to keep him at arm's length. He was telling the truth this time, I knew it somewhere in my bones. Probably always had been. But why make

  • Kissed My Ex's Brother    Shadows of Obsession 2

"Miss me today?" His tone was light, teasing, but his eyes held that possessive heat. She didn't look up, her pencil flying across the paper in sharp, decisive strokes. "Like a hole in the head, ." Adrian chuckled, low and warm, the sound rumbling through his chest as he picked up one of her fabric swatches a heavy wool blend and rubbed it thoughtfully between his fingers. "This one's too stiff for the cocktail dress you're sketching. It'll hang wrong on the curves. Try the silk-cashmere from the back rack instead; it'll drape like liquid." There was a playful glint in his eye, like he was sharing an inside secret, fully at ease in her world. Elena's brush paused mid-stroke, and she finally looked up, her cheeks flushing not with flattery but with rising anger. "And what exactly makes you think you know my designs better than I do?" "Two years watching every move," he replied smoothly, voice dropping to that husky timbre that always sent a shiver down spines. "I know

  • Kissed My Ex's Brother    Shadows of Obsession

Third person pov Adrian's sleek black Bentley glided through the rain-slicked streets of the city, the wipers cutting steady arcs across the windshield like a metronome counting down to an inevitable confrontation. Elena sat rigid in the passenger seat, her arms crossed tightly over her chest, staring out at the blurred neon lights streaking past. The silence between them hung heavy, thicker than the downpour hammering the roof, suffocating every breath. He stole glances at her the sharp, defiant line of her jaw clenched in anger, the way her fingers dug into her own biceps as if she were physically holding herself together to keep from shattering right there. The air smelled of wet leather and tension, and Adrian felt it coiling in his gut like a spring ready to snap.He couldn't stand it any longer. His hands tightened on the leather-wrapped steering wheel until his knuckles whitened. "Elena," he said finally, his voice low and rough, almost lost under the engine's steady hum.

  • Kissed My Ex's Brother    Broken Slumber

Adrian's POV The elevator doors hissed shut behind us, sealing out Alex's pathetic snarls. And the echo of his heels scraping concrete as Marco hauled him off into the night. But that fucker's wild eyes and slimy desperation clung to my skull like tar. How dare he slink back into Elena's
