CHLOE’S POV

Who would have thought that. Ethan will be so short lived. He was such a genuine, caring and peaceful person, my person.

I was shaking.

But not from the cold.

Not from the after-effects of childbirth.

But from the truth that refused to settle in my chest. The reality I wish to wake up from.

Ethan was dead.

And Gold… Gold had been working against us. With the enemy. Against my husband. Against my family.

The evening lights outside my hospital window cast long shadows across my ward, and everything felt too quiet, too still, like the calm after a storm that promised a bigger one.

I pulled my hospital blanket tighter around myself, my baby boy sleeping peacefully in his crib beside me, unaware that the world around him was falling apart.

My father rolled Zoe’s wheelchair into the room, his face tight with exhaustion and sadness.

“I’ll only stay a few minutes,” he said softly. “I want to see my grandson again before I leave.”

I nodded.

Dad leaned over the little c

  • Kisses, Lies and Blurred Alibis    Zoe Questions

Chloe’s POVI waited until my baby’s breathing evened out before laying him gently in his crib. He was already deep into his sleep, his tiny hands still held into my cloth, like he doesn’t want to let go.His tiny chest rose and fell, it was slow and steady now, he wan now calm, unaware of the storm that had swallowed our home. I stood there for a moment longer than necessary, my hand resting on the rail, memorizing the way peace looked on his face, because peace felt fragile lately. Temporary. When I finally turned away, my heart felt heavier than when I’d walked in.We closed the nursery door quietly behind us.The hallway lights were dim. Jake walked ahead of us, silent, his shoulders tense like he was carrying the weight of the night on his back. Tyler followed, eyes alert, scanning corners out of habit now. Zoe lingered beside me, unusually quiet. It was Zoe who spoke first.“Chloe,” she said softly, stopping in the hallway. “The man you met… do you know his name?”I shook my hea

  • Kisses, Lies and Blurred Alibis    When the house fell Silent

Chloe’s POVAs we drove down, stopping at the entrance, I knew this night wasn’t going to be any worse than the day was.The house was quiet moment we stepped in.Not empty, cause it was full. Full of people, of staffs walking up and down, full of quiet movement. Yet it was too quiet, like a place holding its breath after a scream. The kind of silence that presses against your ears until your heart starts pounding just to remind you that you’re still alive. The baby cried. Not the soft, hungry cry I had learned to recognize, but a sharp, unsettled wail, thin and aching, like he sensed the fracture in the air. Like he knew something was missing.like he missed Mira.My arms tightened instinctively as I took him from the nurse. “I know,” I whispered, rocking him gently. “I know, my love.”Jake stood near the doorway, his jacket still on, his shoulders rigid. Tyler leaned against the wall across from him, eyes lowered, hands shoved deep into his pockets. Zoe sat quietly on the couch, sta

  • Kisses, Lies and Blurred Alibis    The truth between us

Chloe’s POV“Chloe!”Jake called me, rushing towards me.His voice cut through the emptiness of the warehouse like a blade.I turned just as he rushed toward me, his face tight with fear, anger, and something worse, relief that hadn’t fully settled yet. The Police officers came in behind him, guns raised, scanning every corner. Tyler followed closely, his jaw clenched, eyes sharp, already calculating exits and threats.Jake grabbed my arms.“What are you doing here?” he asked, surprised and shocked written all over his face. His hands were firm, not rough, but they trembled. “Do you have any idea how dangerous this is?”I opened my mouth to answer, but the words tangled in my throat. Instead, I asked the only thing that made sense in my spinning mind.“What were you doing here?” He stared at me for a second, stunned by the question, then exhaled sharply. “The police traced the number that sent those messages. It led here. We came as soon as we could.”My heart sank.So the message wa

Chloe’s POV“Stay here,” Jake said, already reaching for his jacket. “We’ll handle this. And I promise you, we will bring Mira back home safely.”I nodded, because that was what I always did when he used that tone, the one that sounded calm but carried iron underneath. Tyler was already by the door, speaking quietly with the officers, his face set in that hard, focused way I’d come to recognize. Men preparing for war. Last time I saw him looked that way was weeks ago, before Adrain was cut and apprehended. The door closed behind them with a final, hollow sound. And suddenly, the house felt too big.Too quiet.I stood there for a long moment, my hands hanging uselessly by my sides, my heart beating like it was trying to escape my chest. Mira’s face kept flashing in my mind, her shy smile, the way she’d hovered at the edges of rooms at first, unsure if she belonged. The way she’d finally laughed freely, as if she’d found safety at last. And now she was gone.I moved without really decid

Chloe’s POVMira was still missing. She hasn’t been foundSince morning. That truth sat in the center of the house like a wound no one dared to touch. Every mood of the house was different, from laughters down to this sudden silence, every hallway longer, every silence heavier, it was like everyone was truly affected by her absence. The calm we’d woken up to after the wedding had evaporated completely, replaced by something brittle and afraid.I stood by the window for the third time in an hour, watching the gates as if she might suddenly walk back in, hair a little messy, apologizing for worrying us. My hands were clasped so tightly together they ached.“She’ll come back,” I whispered, though I didn’t know who I was trying to convince.Jake was on the phone again. He’d been pacing since morning, voice low, clipped, controlled in that way that always meant he was holding something back. Tyler sat on the arm of the couch, jaw tight, eyes fixed on the floor. The staff moved quietly, li

  • Kisses, Lies and Blurred Alibis    Mira

Chloe’s POVThe morning after the wedding felt peaceful and amazing. Literally all our staffs were smiling, grinning from ear to ear. It felt unreal. Not the dramatic kind of unreal, no alarms, no screaming phones, no fear sitting heavy in my chest. Just quiet. The kind that hums softly, like the world finally exhaled after holding its breath for too long.Sunlight streamed through the curtains, pale and warm, kissing the floor in slow, lazy patterns. I lay still for a moment, listening to the gentle rhythm of my son’s breathing from his crib, the distant murmur of the house waking up. Somewhere down the hallway, a door opened. Footsteps padded softly. Laughter followed. This is Peace.I smiled to myself. For the first time in a long while, peace didn’t feel borrowed. It felt earned.I slipped out of bed carefully, wrapped a robe around myself, and crossed over to my baby. He stirred when I leaned over him, his tiny fingers curling instinctively, and my heart squeezed in that familiar
