Chapter 1

"Zera, have you just arrived? Mrs. Santos came here earlier to collect the rent," said a woman who approached Zera, who was about to open the door of the small apartment where she lives.

The young woman stopped her plan before sighing and slowly turned to the woman. It is also a border to that apartment.

"Is she at her house? I'll talk to him first because I don't have a salary yet," she said. There weren't many customers in the small cafeteria she entered and because the place she's working at doesn't have many customers, she didn't have that kind of money to get, because it only depended on the amount of income of the store so he couldn't do anything.

"She was very angry earlier and she said you're been here for a month but you still haven't finished your down payment. I was also scolded because I didn't pay today and mom and dad haven't sent anything for my allowance," she said. Zera just smiled bitterly before nodding.

"I'll ask her first," she said. She is constantly holding her breath at what is happening and will gradually give up.

"Alright, I'll go inside first and I'll review, we have an exam tomorrow," said the girl. They just said goodbye to each other before Zera entered the apartment.

The size is comparable to an average bedroom in the house and there is also a small sink and the cr is also fitted inside.

Zera sat down on the chair with her forehead resting on her plam. That's when she pulled out her wallet, which only contained about a hundred, and it turned out that she had bought a kilo of rice, it's been a month since she didn't eat and she had a stock of sardines.

Zera stood up from where she was sitting before going straight to the sink where she would get her food that she had cooked before she left the apartment. She was thankful that it had not been smoothed over.

He opened a sardine after that she started eating at the small table where she could see the outside.

"It's hard to be in this situation, but Zera, just be patient, if you replace your suffering with the goodness of your brother, everything will be fine. All you have to do is sacrifice what you have and find your brother," she said. She had an ideal life but everything that happened to her brother changed because she was now alone.

When sje finished eating, she washed the plate even though it was difficult for her to swallow what she was eating, she just thought that the food would be a waste, especially since it did not relieve her.

She decided to go outside to walk to their landlord's house. It's not far and it's not close either, you'll pass two stores that aren't too far apart.

She only walked for a few minutes when she passed the guy hanging around the corner who was staring at her.

"Miss!" They shouted. She stopped before slowly turning around. She watched them. They look like addicts looking for a victim.

"Are you the new one living in Mrs. Santos' apartment?" he asked. Zera stood up straight before nodding.

"I am, do you need anything?" She asked calmly. They looked at each other before grinning and Zera didn't like it when they grinned.

"You know, miss, we don't have many girls here, maybe you can join us." Zera frowned because of that.

"Even here in the province there are guy like this," he whispered, before smiling at them.

"I'm sorry but I don't have anything to do here, so if only I could go first," she said. She was about to walk but they quickly stood up in her chair which suddenly alarmed Zera.

"All right now," they said. Zera was very calm when she sensed that they were getting close. He was about to touch Zera when they stopped because someone was touching his wrist

She raised her head and looked at the person who stopped him. "What are you doing harassing a woman again? Can you stop your foolishness," said that voice, causing her to look up and see a man holding the other's wrist. Like the other side, he also has companions.

"There's nothing wrong with that. We saw her first," he said before taking his hand.

"Miss, go ahead we'll take care of them," he said. Zera smiled at him before hurrying to leave and Mrs. Santos' house was just around the corner.

When she arrived, she knocked on the door and in less than a few minutes someone opened it.

"Zera, what did you do here?" This is a question. Zera just bowed because she was too shy to say what she wanted to say.

"W-what is it, Mrs. Santos, I haven't been able to pay the rent this month, because I haven't been able to earn a salary at the cafeteria," she said weakly. The old woman looked at her intently.

"Come in," she said before turning away. Zera didn't do anything but obey.

When they got inside, the old woman made her sit there before leaving when she came back with juice for Zera.

"Oh, thank you," she said. The old woman shook his head at her.

"Drink that. Alice already told you that I went there earlier? The truth is that I'm also tight on money and they all haven't paid the rent yet, but you just got here, I understand you," she said with a smile. Zera couldn't help but feel a strange feeling and she suddenly remembered her mother.

"I will pay when I get my salary. It's really slow at the cafeteria," she said before sighing. The old man just stared at her.

"I know you're not from here.. I know your status in life is far from your current situation, I can feel that you're carrying something heavy inside you a lot." Zera was surprised by what she heard from the old woman.

"W-what?" He says. Wonder why the old woman knew that.

"You know that I know how to predict and from what I see now, I know that something is happening to you, why did you end up here," she said. Zera just swallowed, she didn't really believe in the fortune teller but because of what the old woman said she started to believe.

The old woman's smiling eyes were suddenly serious. "Be careful with the people you meet, not everything is true, never trust anyone and be especially careful of wild animals that can attack you at any time and that can be the cause of your destruction."
