The way they recognized each other felt like a damn stab in my own heart. Of all people she could have met in the other world, it was my sister, Maya. I didn’t think she goes that way – liking women.
I had never regretted my decisions in all my life. This was the first I regretted it. But I didn’t know, did I? I did not know that they knew each other, that they were lovers then. Of course, I wouldn’t know anything that goes on in my sister’s life at all. She has her own life as an apprentice of the witch, and I had mine as the now-successor of the Faramis family after she left to live on her own a few years back. All her responsibility as an older sister was passed down to me. All the difficult trainings, the wounds and the broken bones I had, all the pressure that my father gave, all of the responsibilities. But now I wasn’t complaining. Without those training, I wouldn’t be this good now. I wouldn’t have met Selina who I, might I clichéd-ly add, that I have liked the moment I laid my eyes on her messy black hair back in the cave a few days ago. I wouldn’t have been able to protect her the way I did in her mansion in the other world.

Snow began to drift down the road - a single snowflake flew swaying down along with the cold breeze of the wind. I watched everything from my large window room. It was dark and the only light emitted was from the frozen lamp post outside which gave a white-yellow shade from the inside. Everything was filled with snow – the naked trees, the once brown ground, and the pathway leading to the family mansion was now covered with a thick layer of white snow. Snow was everywhere as I walked down the alley – sending shivers down all over my body. I cupped both my hands together, blew warm air into them, and rubbed them together, before placing them inside my pockets – mentally scolding myself for forgetting my gray wool gloves. At this state, I swear my hands will be numb and frozen before I even get the chance to enter the public library. An hour or so had probably passed by, and I was still reading the book. I had read a lot of pages from it already in over the hour, and boy you bet I was liking it because I did not want to let go of the book. Thud! I jump a little on my seat. I look around me, panning my head to the light end where I came, there was nothing there, then to the dark end. I gasp suddenly at the sight. At the end – where it no longer was dark, was a large white fury and fluffy puff white ball of what I think seems to be from a rabbit’s tail. It was round and it looked soft. I then stood up from where I sat, clutching the book on my chest tight as if it would shield me enough as I step an inch towards the white fluffy tail of the rabbit – slowly and quietly.
