Chapter 3

"I was just putting my clothes away," I lied.

I deliberately didn't want to tell Jason the truth. I wanted to surprise him. A surprise that would surely make him very happy. I was sure of it!

"Oh, really? I thought you'd be upset about what happened earlier. Next time, you shouldn't overreact in front of Grace. She's devastated right now, and she needs me," Jason said without any guilt. He wasn't worried that his words would hurt my feelings.

"So?"

"Right now, she's in front of the house. You'd better go downstairs and bring her inside. She needs us right now."

My ears felt hot as I listened to him. Jason was really out of his mind for inviting that girl to stay in our mansion.

Without turning to him, I went to the bed and immediately lay down with my back facing him.

"I'm so tired today. You take her in. I've also prepared dinner for her, as you requested."

"Really? Well, then I'll have dinner with Grace. You are very understanding, Cassandra."

After saying that, I didn't hear any thanks from Jason. I only heard his footsteps moving away from the room, followed by the sound of the door slamming shut.

"Now I'm even more convinced that you chose Grace over me, Jason. If you love Grace, then why did you marry me in the first place?" I whimpered and started crying.

Memories of the past came rushing back to my mind. I remembered how Jason used to treat me so romantically. He would even try hard to persuade me whenever I was angry with him.

However, now all of that was just a memory.

Had Grace replaced me in his heart? I didn't know.

Or maybe I had been nothing more than a substitute for Grace all this time.

Could it be that Jason only mated with me to get over his feelings for Grace?

"To hell with them! They can do whatever they want. I don't care anymore."

I quickly wiped away my tears.

I forced myself to close my eyes, even though I occasionally felt tears welling up in my eyes again. However, I didn't want to dwell on this sadness. I wanted to forget these painful memories, even if only for a moment.

After forcing myself to close my eyes, I finally managed to rest and sleep peacefully that night, after trying to let go of all the burdens in my heart.

I didn't care if Jason and Grace were making out somewhere in the mansion.

Yes, this was much better than before.

By not thinking about them anymore, my heart felt much calmer.

"How did you sleep last night, Grace? Did you sleep well?"

"I slept well, and I feel much better here. Thank you, Jason."

"If you need anything, just call me or Cassandra. We'll always take care of you here."

I was just about to leave my room when I stopped in my tracks after hearing the conversation between Jason and Grace in the guest room not far from mine. With my enhanced hearing, I could hear every word they said.

I slowly closed the door and decided not to go out.

I sat on the bed, crying and contemplating. However, I quickly wiped my tears away.

I was not a weak woman.

I was strong!

"Cassandra, what are you doing? Why aren't you awake yet?"

I was startled and quickly turned my head toward the door.

I saw Jason walk into the room and grab some of my clothes from the closet.

"Jason, what are you going to do with those clothes?" I stood up and walked over to him.

"Oh, these? I'm going to give them to Grace because she left some of her clothes at her house."

"But they're my clothes!" I protested.

"Hey, Cassandra. You mustn't forget that you bought these clothes with my money. So I have the right to do whatever I want with them. You can't protest!"

Jason then left the room and slammed the door loudly again.

I stood up and was about to leave the room. However, Jason suddenly re-entered.

"Oh, yeah, Cass. Grace said that she liked your cooking. You should cook some more and set everything up on the dining room table. Maybe Grace and I will go out for a while to investigate the Rogue attack."

I didn't answer at all, but Jason probably took my silence as agreement.

He walked out of the room, leaving me alone.

"Your heart is completely dead, Jason."

That afternoon, I decided to take a walk around the pack, promising myself that this would be the last time.

At the training center, I saw young wolves being trained by the Gamma. After the chaos caused by the Rogues, the pack needed more young warriors to strengthen its defenses.

"I will miss this atmosphere very much. The members of this pack have been very kind to me. It's just that I can't stay with a husband who doesn't even acknowledge my existence. Haha, Jason probably thinks I don't even exist in this world."

I laughed bitterly at myself.

I spent some time with the Omegas, chatting with them. I also met the Delta and Beta while they were practicing.

Today, I had seen almost everyone in the pack.

Think of it as my way of saying goodbye to them.

After spending the afternoon wandering around the pack, I decided to head back home.

But as I passed the guest room, my enhanced hearing suddenly picked up the sound of sighs and a soft, playful laugh coming from inside.

"Is that Jason and Grace? What are they doing in there?”
