XANDER LAVEN'S POV
She drove me crazy. Sure, I have found other women attractive, but Chayse... Damn... I can't control myself around her, especially when she teased me and ran off.
To be honest, it made me way more attracted to her, and my wolf always howled when she does that. I have found her biting her lower lip without her noticing, and it makes my wolf's heart pound harder than ever before.
Earlier, when she let her wolf take over, I knew I was doing something right: not forcing anything upon her.
I almost couldn't even do that. It is too hard not to claim her already, place my kiss upon her pink lips, trace my fingers down her body, and have her all to me—to no one else but me. I almost feel guilty about taking her away from her brother, but she is mine, no one else's.
I wish I didn't treat her like my property, but the mate's bond wishes me to be too possessive. I ran my hand through my hair multiple times, making it look like I was in a major fight.
At least I was trying with her, unlike my pack. I was taught to be strict with them, and that's why we're the leading pack in the entire country. I wasn't wanting a mate.
This was my last year at that dreaded gathering, and I was prepared to go to an unmated pack female to bear an heir to my pack, but then Chayse was there in a revealing blue dress, her brown hair in waves past her shoulders. Her eyes were brown with a hint of green on the inner rim. I almost grinned at how she defended her fudge, but I was infuriated.
I let that go when I saw her hurt. I hated seeing her tears. My wolf growled at the memory, so I went down the stairs, thanking the Moon Goddess that I still owned a regular shirt and some sweatpants.
I saw Chayse on the couch, her lips parted and her hair cascading over her face, her arms spread out, and one of her legs was on top of the back of the couch. Her blanket covered half of her torso and was strung above the top of her legs.
Her black leggings showed her gorgeous figure and made my wolf urge to mark her. I contained him inside of me and lay behind her, positioning her so that we were spooning. I wrapped my arms around her and held her close, whispering into her ear.
"Oh Chayse, my Little Mate. You don't know how much you have changed me already. I love you, I need you, I couldn't live without you. You are my treasure, and I will never let you go."
I felt her breathing hitch, and I sucked in a breath, knowing she was awake.
She smirked and chuckled in her sleep.
"Oh, shut up," I growled before shoving my nose in the crook of her neck and took a final huge breath before I felt her snuggle up closer to me.
"Now you're speaking my language," she whispered before falling back to sleep. I raised my eyebrows and shrugged before falling asleep with her.
CHAYSE POV
I woke and looked up at my mate. I'm glad he's changed, well, to me at least. It was actually pretty quick that he changed towards me. He didn't seem merciless to me; otherwise, I was only seeing one side of Xander.
I kissed his neck before getting out of his arms to continue to the kitchen. I pulled the Pumpkin bread that lay on the counter suspiciously.
Knew you would need this in the morning. Saw you and my brother together and decided not to bother.
Just left your house peacefully.
-The best she-wolf in the entire pack
I grabbed the loaf and moved back to the couch, where Xander was still sleeping. I looked at the clock and found that it was five in the morning, a time nearly forbidden for my brain to wake up on. I frowned and stuffed some pumpkin bread in my mouth, and went into Xander's—our—bedroom and slipped off my clothes to prepare to shift.
To be honest, I couldn't sleep if I woke up in my human form, but my wolf can sleep almost on command. So I shifted and padded back down the stairs, laying next to Xander's sleeping form and cuddling into his chest for warmth.
I felt arms curling around my sides, and a gasp left Xander's lips in shock, but he embraced me and started to pet my head gently, making my eyes flutter back closed.
Though after a while, I felt that the petting stopped and my warmth changed. I looked back and saw a black wolf, sleeping beside me. Aria grinned deviously inside of me, and I pushed her away, closing my eyes and gently falling to sleep.
The full moon is tomorrow, and I found Xander struggling to get off of me. The full moon is tomorrow, and I definitely didn't want to get out of the house. Since the Blood Moon Pack was filled with more pure bloodlines, all the wolves are probably anxious.
Xander locked himself in his office, his Alpha bloodlines munching at his wolf. I decided to get my phone and play the Alexander Hamilton playlist on Spotify as loud as I could.
"Excuse me, are you Aaron Burr, sir?"
"That depends, who's asking?"
"Oh sure, sir. I'm Alexander Hamilton, I'm at your service, sir, I have been looking for you."
"I'm getting nervous."
I swayed my hips to the beat and danced around like I was each of the characters: Aaron Burr, Alexander Hamilton, Hercules Mulligan, Marquis de Lafayette. Great American people... Well, Alexander is on my mind. I continued to dance until the song, Blow Us All Away, where Philip Hamilton died in a duel.
My wolf whined, and I started to cry. Darned wolf emotions during the full moon. Everything is harder on my brain during this time, and when Philip was shot, I shouted. "PHILIP, NO!!" I heard thundering footsteps and then hands on my shoulders.
"Who the hell is Philip?" he growled, his lips against my ear and his hands crushing my shoulders. I winced and stared into his golden eyes.
"Was he here?" he growled, his minty breath in my face.
"Philip Hamilton, died in the 1800s because of a duel," I explained, smirking. "In the play Alexander Hamilton."
He growls and lets go of my shoulders in realization of what I'm talking about. He kissed my forehead, then made a deep growl of lust. My eyes widened as I remembered about his extra heightened wolf control.
His lips moved down my face and to my neck, his wolf fighting. I was frozen, Aria keeping me in place. Xander moved his lips upward to my lips, our lips battling for dominance.
But, his wolf kept wanting to move to my neck. Well, he succeeded.
I felt him lip and suck on one spot before I panicked, but Xander's hands snaked around my waist, holding me to him. His sharp canines penetrated my soft, tender skin, and I gasped as he bit harder, drawing blood.
He marked me. Xander marked me. He licked the bite until it was done bleeding, and he pulled away, his golden eyes filled with pleasure, but his eyes also showing a small bit of regret.
"You marked me," I whispered breathlessly. He nodded and held me close.
"You marked me," I whispered again. Now I felt more attracted to him than before. He looked down at me with regret.
"I have to leave you, Chayse," he stated softly, cupping my cheek. I looked up at him with saddened eyes.
"Why?" I ask.
He sighs and digs his head in the nape of my neck. He inhales deeply.
"The Amber Sky Pack is having some problems, and I was personally invited to discuss it before it further hurts the rest of the packs."
"Then why can't I go? That was my former pack, and my brother should be Beta by now, and I want to see him, and—" He put a hand over my mouth.
"Only if you stay out of Alpha business, Little Mate. I don't want to scare you." I narrow my eyes at him.
"Scare me? My mother died because of rogue wolves, her body being ripped apart in front of me. My father came back from a battle with the largest wound down his sides and ribs, blood pouring down it. I have seen the light of battle where wolves drop like flies around you. I know what it feels like to be the only one alive from your troop, everyone else dead!" I growled.
Xander raised his eyebrows, but then looked into my eyes with sincerity. I shrugged.
"Just saying, you won't scare me, but I'll stay out of your business."
He nodded and kissed me softly before moving away and went back into his office. I, on the other hand, moved to the bathroom to see the bite he gave me.
It reeked of mint, and the bite was bright pink, pink surrounding the bite as well. I wiped it with a towel, letting my wolf healing let it scar. Now his bite was permanently on my neck, forever binding me to Xander.
LIAM'S POVKhalid growled inside me, my eyes glowing brighter by the hour. A knock on my office door happened immediately after. "Harley, I swear if you have some shit to give me about my mate I'm not gonna hear it." I was right, it was Harley, but I guess he wasn't here to to talk shit. "Liam, I have some news for you," Harley says, grunting slightly as he sat in the chair across from me."The council has agreed for us to move our route for the full moon to the Blood Moon Pack border. We can claim that rouge territory as our own and you can be closer to Xandria." she smile. "We'd better get going then, shouldn't we?" I giggled.XANDRIA'S POV Azule inside me was growling to be released and shift and I'm sure Maria felt the same way. We walked idea by side to the bushes where the were wolves gathering already a little bit away. On this full moon everyone, and I mean everyone, on the pack would join us. We're going on border patrol together then parting and messing around as wolv
XANDRIA'S POVIt's been a week since I got out of the hospital and I am required to be on medication. The idea of my ribs cages being opened and my heart got a mini shock so it would start back up boggled my brain. The marks of the procedure were still there, the stitches nearly dissolved. I sighed and hopped onto the counter, the brace on my leg down just around my knee now. It hurt from time to time, but not as much as when I sometimes dream about the surgery. But Liam claims it wasn't too bad. But Maria claims he wasn't watching, just crying. I laughed at that part.Full moon is within twenty-four hours and Azule is resurfacing from my unconsciousness, howling at me for some reason. My brain was going nuts a few hours ago, longing for Liam. He returned to his pack three days ago, not wanting to leave his brother and Beta to the pack for too long. I found myself touching the mark he gave me, as if he would be there to soothe me. But it wasn't the same. I wanted him closer to me d
LIAM'S POV The doctor came back to give Xandria her medications a few hours after Maria left to go home. She needed to see her mate and get some sleep without worrying about her Alpha. I guess she trusted me to be there at all times. He wore a white coat like most of them were required to wear, but underneath some dress pants, some old dress shoes, and a polo shirt. His glasses were square on the top of his nose, making the rest of his face look much bigger than it actually was. "Alpha Liam," he said, bowing his head. As he looked up at me once more, there was a green flash in his eyes. I had seen this once before when I visited the Northern Mountain Pack that eventually joined with the Blood Moon Pack. Alpha Flourne had those eyes, but he was nothing to be proud of, a failure at best. I looked sceptically at him and he looked away, pulling three vials out of his coat pocket.Three? They usually only brought in one vial. A dose like this could rapidly heal Xandria or do more damag
CHARLOTTE'S POV My mate, Jonathan, doesn't know why our little rouge pack has to kill Alpha Liam and Alpha Xandria. It is not for my own personal gain, but for the good of all the packs. When they are both dead, three major threats will be gone. Xandria and Liam, some of the strongest Alphas that would care to stop us.The outcome of them living would be a catastrophe. We don't need more of he Moon Goddess's pure blood being passed down and let her stupid little prophecy be fulfilled that she placed upon the wolves who want more power from her eyes that she gives.Plus, we can take the Alpha's eyes for our own use. Jonathan would get a pair and so would the high master. Both of them would become Alphas when we take control of their packs when they're gone.Jonathan of Liam's pack and the high master would get the Blood Moon Pack. Of course, Jonathan doesn't know that yet.....XANDRIA'S POV I felt the breath being knocked out of my lungs as my life flashed before my eyes. My heartbe
LIAM'S POVIt's been four days.Four days since my love had been called officially unconscious- like we couldn't tell before.I had been waiting beside her for all this time, holding her hand or kissing her forehead. Whenever Maria came in, she would bring a single rose. She said it was placed on her doorstep every morning with a card with Xandria's name on it. One showed up every day, each either red or white. The Moon Goddess is helping her.Her chest heaved up and down occasionally, her heart rate horribly too slow for her to move in any other way. Sometimes her eyes moved under her eyelids like she was dreaming, but the doctor's claimed that I was just imagining things. It's 5 A.M. and I can't sleep. For some reason, I had a feeling that Xandria would wake up any moment. Also, I couldn't go to sleep on an empty stomach. But that's beside the point. She had a cast on her leg and her arm. The doctors say that she'll be okay to be out of them in two days or so,but I still worry fo
LIAM'S POVI ran to them, kneeling to look at Maria. "Maria. What happened? Is Xandria okay?" Maria looked up at me, her eyes filed with tears. "Xandria... She... She's ..." Maria gasped, trying to catch her breath once more. She pointed to a large pile on concrete with a car leaning on it, no driver seeming to be inside. The air in my lungs gets knocked out of me as I realize what she's saying. I don't hesitate to go to the pile and push the car off, no help required. It was like the Moon Goddess wanted me to get to Xandria. I pulled off the concrete piece by piece until I saw a hand. A soft hand covered in the dust from the concrete. It only encouraged me to dig harder. Now Maria joined me, digging and crying all at the same time. As we dug, more wolves watched as we uncovered Xandria, praying to the Moon Goddess that she was alive. Maria uncovered her legs while I found her torso and her face. Her eyes were closed and one of her legs as well as an arm was twisted at an awkward
