Chapter 9 - Dinner with the Kova’s 

Despite my parents wanting to stay home to monitor my movements, they had to leave due to an emergency at work. Unaware of this fact, I was contemplating whether or not to go out. Just as I was pondering, my phone rang. I picked it up and said, "Hello?"

"Sophie, it's mom," the firm voice said.

"Oh, hey, mom. Why are you calling me on the phone? Aren't you downstairs?" I asked, confused.

"No, dear. We received an emergency call from the office, so we're on our way there. I don't know when we'll return," she explained. "Just in case we can't make it back today, there is enough food in the freezer to last you, okay?"

"Okay, mother. But you don't have to worry. I'm not a child, you know," I reassured her.

"To us, you are. Just be careful and don't go out at night, okay?"

"Alright, I love you."

"I love you too, pumpkin." She hung up the phone.

"Great, another night alone," I murmured to myself. Just then, I received a message from Nat, telling me to start coming.

I replied with an 'Okay.'
