Maya's POV

Marcus was quiet for a long moment, studying my face. Then he pulled out his phone and made a call.

"Bring them in," he said simply, then hung up.

Within minutes, I heard multiple sets of footsteps approaching. My heart sank as I recognized two of the voices.

Lyra and Damien appeared around the corner, both looking nervous and confused. Lyra was still dressed in her perfect sorority girl outfit, but her usual confidence was nowhere to be seen. Damien wore his Alpha authority like armor, but even he seemed diminished in Marcus Blackwood's presence.

"Mr. Blackwood," Damien said carefully. "Your assistant said you wanted to see us urgently."

Marcus didn't stand to greet them. "Damien. Lyra. Thank you for coming so quickly."

"Why are we here?" Lyra demanded, though her voice lacked its usual venom. "What does this have to do with Maya's arrest?"

"Everything," Marcus said simply. "You see, you've both served your purpose admirably. Damien, your marriage to Selen

Maya's POV "Like I survived the storm but forgot where I was trying to go before it hit." I took a sip of coffee. "For months, my only goal was getting through each day. Now that the crisis is over, I don't know what comes next."Isabella nodded thoughtfully. "You know what I think? I think you've been so focused on other people's choices, Lyra's betrayal, Victoria's harassment, the guys' declarations of love, that you forgot you get to make choices too.""I chose myself," I said. "At the chapel. I told them all I needed to be alone.""That was a good start," Isabella agreed. "But now you need to figure out what choosing yourself actually means. Not just what you're saying no to, but what you're saying yes to."I thought about that. "I want to finish my degree in Healing and Herbalife. I want to make real friendships that aren't caught up in drama. I want to discover who I am when I'm not just reacting to a crisis.""Those are great goals," Isabella said. "But Maya, what do you want

Maya's POVI sat alone in the campus garden, watching the sunset paint the sky in shades of amber and rose. Six months ago, I'd been in this same spot, broken and humiliated after discovering Ashen and Lyra's betrayal. Back then, I couldn't imagine ever feeling whole again. Now, everything has changed. And y500,000et, I was still sitting in the same garden, still trying to figure out who I was and what I wanted. My phone buzzed with a text from Quinn: How did the courthouse thing go?Lyra testified. Told the truth about everything, I typed back. How do you feel?I stared at the question for a long moment before responding: I don't know. Relieved? Sad? It's complicated.Quinn replied immediately: Want company? Not tonight. I need to think.Love you, girl. Here if you need me.I put my phone away and pulled out the journal I'd been keeping since the scandal broke. Page after page of my thoughts, fears, hopes, and realizations. I flipped to a blank page and started writing.Six months a

Lyra's POV "How convenient that you've developed a conscience now, after your co-conspirator has been caught.""It's not convenient," I shot back. "It's humiliating and painful and I'll carry the guilt for the rest of my life. But it's necessary.""Necessary for what? To save your own reputation by throwing Victoria Sterling under the bus?""No. Necessary to tell the truth about what we did. All of us. Including me."The attorney tried several more angles, attempting to paint me as an opportunist or to suggest my testimony was motivated by plea bargaining. But I had nothing to gain and everything to lose, which made me a difficult witness to discredit. After forty-five minutes of cross-examination, the judge finally dismissed me from the stand.I walked out of the courtroom on shaking legs. The hallway was full of people, reporters, students, curious observers. They all stared as I passed, and I could hear their whispered comments."That's Lyra Brooks.""The one who betrayed her best

Lyra's POV Walsh pulled out her phone and played a video. Maya's voice echoed through the courtroom: *"I'm not anyone's prize or problem to solve!"*Watching it again made me feel physically ill."Ms. Brooks, in your coordination with Victoria Sterling, were you aware of the extent of her harassment campaign?""Not entirely," I admitted. "I knew about the social media posts, the rumors, the coordinated isolation. But I didn't know she was paying university staff to tamper with Maya's grades and housing assignments. I didn't know she was conducting illegal surveillance.""But you suspected something larger was happening?""Yes. Victoria had access to information she shouldn't have had. Copies of private text messages, records of Maya's class schedule, details about her medical appointments. I knew she was getting that information somehow, but I didn't ask questions.""Why not?""Because I didn't want to know," I said honestly. "Because knowing would make me more complicit than I alrea

Lyra's POV "Did you create and distribute these images?""Some of them. Others I encouraged people to share. I had a group chat with about fifteen students where we coordinated harassment. Who would sit near Maya in classes and make comments. Who would accidentally spill things on her. Who would spread rumors about her mental health."The courtroom erupted in shocked murmurs. The judge banged her gavel for order. Walsh continued, her voice hard. "You orchestrated systematic harassment of a former friend. Why?""Because I was scared," I admitted, tears streaming down my face now. "Maya was building a new life at Blackstone. Making new friends, catching the attention of professors and other students. And I was terrified that people would find out what I'd done to her. That they'd see me for what I really was.""Which is?""A bully," I said clearly. "A manipulator. Someone who destroyed her best friend's life out of jealousy and then spent months trying to destroy her again out of fear.

Lyra's POVThe courtroom was smaller than I'd imagined. Less dramatic. Just plain walls, fluorescent lights, and rows of uncomfortable wooden benches filled with people who'd come to watch me confess every terrible thing I'd ever done.My hands were shaking as I sat in the witness box. My lawyer had advised me to plead the Fifth Amendment, to refuse to testify against myself. But I couldn't do that. Not anymore.Because Maya had chosen herself last night at the chapel. She'd walked away from three men who loved her to focus on her own healing and growth. And if she could be that brave, then I could at least be honest. The prosecutor, a stern woman named Jennifer Walsh, approached with a folder full of evidence. She gave me a reassuring nod before beginning."Ms. Brooks, please state your full name for the record.""Lyra Elizabeth Brooks," I said, my voice barely above a whisper."Speak up, please," the judge instructed.I cleared my throat. "Lyra Elizabeth Brooks.""Ms. Brooks, you're
