The woman’s eyes widened. It was as if everything happened in slow motion as the kidnapper pulled out a gun.

“No! He’s got a gun!” she cried out, warning Jason.

Jason looked caught off guard and she feared her savior would be shot by the very man who had tried to kidnap her, Vince.

But before she could even finish her sentence, Jason was already on high alert.

He moved and closed the distance between himself and Vince in almost the blink of an eye.

One second, Jason was standing a few feet away from Vince. And the next second, he was right in Vince’s face.

Jason was faster than Vince could even move his finger and fire the trigger.

Vince’s eyes shot up. He was very dumbfounded by this, however he barely had time to register the shock before Jason seized his wrist, twisting it sharply.

A pained cry escaped Vince’s lips as he was forced to let go of the gun, and it clattered to the ground.

Without hesitation, Jason followed up, sweeping Vince’s legs out from under him. The t

  • LUCAN VALE: THE GHOST ASSASSIN   Chapter 120

"Yes I did." Those two words hit like thunder. The entire room gasped. It was the kind of sound that makes your skin crawl—hundreds of people suddenly understanding they'd made a terrible mistake. The Smith family looked like they'd seen a ghost. Lady Smith swayed on her feet. Just moments ago, she'd been trying to destroy Jason in front of everyone. She'd wanted to prove he was nothing—a fake, a nobody. Instead, with just two words, he'd blown her world apart. Seraphina's head spun. She actually stumbled backward, catching herself on a chair. All those times she'd sneered at him, called him pathetic, treated him like dirt under her shoe. The man she'd been so cruel to? He was the one keeping her family afloat. Charlie's punching hand wouldn't stop shaking. How many times had he called Jason a loser? A waste of space? A deadbeat who didn't deserve to breathe the same air? And now he was staring at the man who'd been secretly saving his family. The silence stretched like a rubbe

Lady Smith's rage was a force of nature, and her third slap landed with a loud crack that echoed in the silent room.Cassius staggered backward, his head ringing. The proud, arrogant posture he'd entered with was gone, replaced by a pathetic stoop. Fury blazed in his chest—the audacity of these people to lay hands on him—but he was outnumbered, trapped. The other guests were no longer just watching; they were openly whispering, some even pulling out their phones to record the spectacle. Cassius, once the star of the night, was now the main attraction of a public shaming. A fraud in a cage, surrounded by mocking faces.Jason watched it all unfold with cold satisfaction. Part of him would have preferred to handle Cassius personally, but watching the man get what he deserved for stealing credit was almost as rewarding.Cassius's mind went blank. His lips moved, but no sound came out. The man who moments ago had been on top of the world was now a pathetic figure, surrounded by the wreckag

“What!!?” Cassius exclaimed. The room erupted in murmurs as guests pulled out their devices. Hearing that Cassius was being exposed? They had to see it happen. Those without access craned over to see what others were watching on their phones. Even Charlie pulled out his phone and opened the news appp. Shaking as he began to realize what was happening, Cassius glanced down at his phone. Vanessa did the same.On every screen, the news anchor appeared. “Good evening. A shocking development today: a shocking and unexpected deal between the Smith family, previously on the brink of bankruptcy, and Sterling Enterprises is set to shake up the market.”Cassius’s chest puffed up. “See? The deal is real. That only proves it. I helped the Smith family. Jason’s just trying to make this about him.” He sneered, his tone dripping with arrogance.Jason didn’t flinch. Calmly, he said, “Shut up. Just watch. Everything is about to unfold.”Eyes in the room were glued to their screens, the tension so th

“There was no clause like that in the contract. You’re lying.” Vanessa did not hold back from speaking her mind. A sudden silence fell over the room, as everyone processed her words. But it didn’t last long. The Smith family however, did not even want to entertain the idea that Cassius was lying. They bristled at her accusation. To them, Vanessa’s words were an insult to him, a challenge to everything they believed about him. “Vanessa, how dare you accuse Mr. Devereux of lying?” Lady Smith exclaimed at her granddaughter, her face a storm of indignation. “This is our family’s benefactor, you're insulting!” Morgana stepped forward, voice dripping with contempt. “Yes, Vanessa. Are you implying that Cassius has deceived anyone? How… stupid of you, to make such an accusation against someone who saved your own family from all the financial troubles.” When Cassius saw that they were defending him, he straightened up, he recovered some composure. Even now, he still chose to maintain the

Neither Charlie nor Cassius said anything right away. Charlie, like everyone else in the room, was waiting for Cassius to deliver the knockout response that would finally shut Jason up. After all, Cassius was supposed to know every detail of the deal. Surely he had a perfect answer. But it never came. Because Cassius couldn’t find one.Regret began to gnaw at him. He was already wishing he’d never listened to Charlie’s advice about confronting Vanessa’s fiancé.This wasn’t the script Charlie had promised. The plan was simple: walk up, accuse Jason of stealing credit, and watch him flounder under the pressure. Instead, Jason had flipped the script, pressing him hard, and Cassius was the one on the defensive—scrambling for words that wouldn’t come.“What the fuck do you think you'll prove?” Cassius finally spat, his composure fraying.“Just answer the question,” Jason said evenly, his tone calm but unyielding. At that moment, Lady Smith and Vanessa, each preoccupied with their own conce

As Charlie and Cassius approached, Jason could sense that someone was walking towards him, before he even saw them. He spent years being an assassin. Before that he was a soldier, so that had taught him a lot of things. Among those things that he learned was how to read a room for danger, like he was doing right now. The shift in energy was unmistakable. And although there was no danger here, he could still feel the tensionHe turned, his expression nonchalant, as the two men closed the distance. He saw that it was Charlie and he was not at all surprised. Sooner or later Charlie would start bothering him in hopes of humiliating and driving him away from here. "Jason!" Charlie's voice sounded just loud enough for nearby guests to hear. He approached, hand in pocket, Cassius walking besides him. "There you are. I'd like you to meet someone very important." He said gesturing towards Cassius. Cassius brough himself to the front. As Jason looked at him, Cassius felt himself tremble unde
