“Darius!” I screamed as soon as I heard the gunshot, but I realized that the bullet had whizzed past him and had missed him. Immediately, I shielded him with a protective dome around him.

“No,” I heard George say to the other hunters as he gestured for them to put their guns down. “Don’t shoot. You might end up hitting Tyrell. Let them fight it out. I’m sure Tyrell is strong enough to hold his own.”

I approached them in an attempt to help Darius, but Deirdre stepped right in front of me and cocked her head with a wicked smirk on her face.

“Step aside while I’m still being nice to you, Deirdre. You won’t like what I’ll do to you.” As soon as I made that threat, a gun cocked just as George joined his daughter.

“Lay a hand on my daughter, and I’ll forget the fact that we want you alive. I will kill you right here.” He glared, almost as if he was giving me a silent challenge to go ahead and attack Deirdre.
